Apparatus in Arabic works - Keys of Mercy

'The Keys of Mercy and the Secrets of Wisdom' is an arabic manuscript in the Library of Congress. This alchemical work was written by Mu'ayyad al-Din al-Tugra'i (1062-1121). It is in two parts, the first being a long introduction to alchemical ideas, including an explanation of the four elements and accounts of the preparation of a white elixir for the transmutation of copper into silver and of a red elixir for the transmutation of silver into gold. The second part is an arabic translation, presumably by al-Tugra'i of a work of Zosimos. The manuscript contans many drawings of alchemical apparatus, flasks and furnaces.
