A crowned alchemical flask containing a young king
Posted by: Paul Ferguson - 07-12-2025, 12:22 PM - Forum: Alchemical symbolism and imagery - No Replies

"A crowned alchemical flask containing a young king, dressed in red, representing the culmination of the alchemical process. Watercolour painting. The king is aureoled by a bright glow, and stands upon an upturned crescent moon. Lennep describes an inscription on the original version: "Jam mors consumata et filius noster regnat rubea q toga et chermus indutus est" (Death has been consummated and our son reigns and is clad in a red cloak) (ibid. 128)."

In this visual presentation William Kiesel will discuss the underlying symbolism of correspondences the Hermetic Tradition expressed through music and emblems during the renaissance.   Audiobook: The Leiden Alchemical Papyri
Posted by: Paul Ferguson - 07-12-2025, 12:15 PM - Forum: Alchemy texts - No Replies

"The Rijksmuseum van Oudheden (National Museum of Antiquities) in Leiden, Netherlands, proudly houses an extraordinary and singularly vital collection of Egyptian papyri. Within this unparalleled repository lies a treasure of immeasurable historical weight: the oldest alchemical manuscripts known to scholarship to this very day. This collection transcends the mere categorization of ancient artifacts; it stands as a foundational cornerstone for any rigorous academic pursuit into the history of alchemy, offering an indispensable and tangible link to the genesis of a discipline that profoundly shaped not only scientific inquiry but also philosophical thought and mystical traditions across millennia."

ed. Richard Grossinger

"Here alchemy assumes its rightful place with astrology as a psycho-spiritual system which poses questions about humanity and the cosmos that empirical science has not yet begun to address, let alone answer."  - Norman Weinstein, New Age Magazine.

  Artist: Fran de Anda
Posted by: Paul Ferguson - 07-08-2025, 03:27 PM - Forum: Alchemical symbolism and imagery - Replies (1)

ALCHEMICAL CREATURES II is Fran de Anda’s second solo feature with Arch Enemy Arts, his follow-up to part one, which sold out last July. It features nine new paintings, including three full-length portraits with custom, hand-embellished frames. Using traditional techniques to grind his own pigment, de Anda paints celestial beings and anthropomorphic soothsayers in oil, gold and silver-leaf. His creatures don ancient religious garb, simplified forms and large, staring eyes that conjure early Byzantine iconography mixed with magic, surrealism, and an element of play.

“My inspiration is based on myths and archetypes such as life, death, nature, and the forces that act mysteriously in the world. I am interested in representing concepts like creation, fate, rain, fire, etc. through the alchemical symbolism of elements and the influence they cause on the viewer’s gaze. [I hope] that whoever looks at my work can find a little magic to accompany them on their journey to discover their place in this world.” - Fran de Anda

"Unveiling the forbidden architecture of Aeonic Alchemy, this grimoire guides the adept through the Five Stages of Satanic Alchemical Evolution, mapping a path from the psyche to the unbound flame. From the Four Black Thrones and Towers of Chaos to the Void Sutra of ritual dissolution, from Sex Magick as a vehicle of Self-Deification to the intersections of dimension, perception, and primal force, every page is a step away from the human and toward the daemonic."
