Video: The Ego Illusion in Alchemy
Posted by: Paul Ferguson - 12-08-2025, 11:01 AM - Forum: Articles on alchemy - No Replies

"The alchemical tradition concealed a psychological truth more radical than Jung ever fully articulated: the ego is not an entity to be strengthened or refined—it is a perceptual error that must be recognized as such. This exploration examines the dissolution of false identity through the lens of medieval alchemy, moving beyond contemporary therapeutic frameworks into the darker, more demanding territory of actual transformation."

  Video: Citrinitas
Posted by: Paul Ferguson - 12-08-2025, 10:36 AM - Forum: Alchemical symbolism and imagery - No Replies

"Between the blackness of dissolution and the redness of final integration lies a forgotten threshold—the golden dawn of Citrinitas. In this profound exploration of alchemical psychology, we examine the yellowing phase: the moment when consciousness begins to perceive its own patterns, when awareness awakens to itself, when the inner eye opens for the first time."

Katherine Neville: "I have just led a private tour for ten of the Dibner Library of Science and Technology, one of the most fascinating of the twenty-one Smithsonian Libraries. Here’s one of my favorite documents – Sir Isaac Newton’s alchemy notes, written in his kitchen garden in Cambridge. The librarians brought this document out when we were giving an earlier private tour to the ambassador of the Czech Republic and the Havel family"

Alchemy in the Works of Pierre Le Lorrain, abbé de Vallemont

Occult Botany: Cartesianism, Mechanical Philosophy, and Alchemical Theory in the Works of Pierre Le Lorrain, abbé de Vallemont
December 2025
Nuncius / Istituto e museo di storia della scienza
DOI:10.1163/18253911-bja10188
Authors:
Justin Niermeier-Dohoney

"In 1705, Catholic cleric Pierre Le Lorrain, abbé de Vallemont, published Curiositez de la nature et l’art de Vegetation , which described experimental methods for enhancing botanical growth. As a Cartesian, Vallemont had developed theories about the natural processes of plants through a mechanical, corpuscular natural philosophy. Yet, Vallemont had also hoped to reconcile these observations about plants with what he described as “occult physics” in these materialist terms."
