Petrus Bonus emblems hand coloured by Adam McLean
I have painted hand coloured versions of the sequence of 14 pictures in the 'Petrus Bonus' series. I believe this hand colouring makes these images even more accessible, and I have tried to use a consistent colouring scheme to emphasise the various elements of the symbolic sequence. I include below my fourteen coloured engravings from the printed version issued under the editorship of Giovanni Lacinius Pretiosa margarita novella de thesauro, ac pretiosissimo philosophorum lapide, Venice, 1546, as small thumbnails.I am in planning to incorporate this sequence into a multimedia slide sequence similar to the the Atalanta fugiens multimedia slide show I have recently produced.
