"The study of ‘Alchemy in English Literature’ is a well-established field in academia (see the works of Stanton Linden, Lyndy Abraham, and Charles Nicholl for excellent examples of work in this niche). John Granger in his Hidden Key to Harry Potter (2002) used the phrase “literary alchemy” both to distinguish hermetic imagery in drama, poetry, and story from the glyphs, colours, and sequences in metallurgical alchemy texts and simultaneously to explain how the esoteric lab work images became the stage setting stuff and substance of imaginative literature."
