New in Wiki: Tractatus de herbis (Treatise on Herbs)
Posted by: Paul Ferguson - 04-23-2024, 04:54 PM - Forum: Articles on alchemy - No Replies

"The Tractatus de herbis (Treatise on Herbs), sometimes called Secreta Salernitana (Secrets of Salerno), is a textual and figurative tradition of herbariums handed down through several illuminated manuscripts of the late Middle Ages and potentially the second half of the 13th century. These treatises present pure plant, mineral, or animal substances with therapeutic properties. Depending on the version, there are between 500 and over 900 entries, grouped in alphabetical order. Originating in Italy, they were distributed throughout Europe and contributed to the transmission and popularity of the pharmacopeia of the Salerno School of Medicine."

  Forthcoming: Wild Alchemy
Posted by: Paul Ferguson - 04-23-2024, 04:51 PM - Forum: Reviews and book notices - No Replies

"Wild Alchemy is a culinary and medicinal bible that brings together traditional alchemical practices with plant lore. Alchemy is the ancient art of transforming nature for the benefit of body, mind and soul. This book is an invitation to connect back to ourselves, and rediscover how our ancestors lived in harmony with the seasons by foraging for food and medicine. Through illustrated botanical and astrological guides and practical recipes, Wild Alchemy takes the reader on a journey of enquiry to become alchemists in our daily lives."
