I got mine and love them!  Guess I didn't get my descriptions of my cards in on time.  Too bad - they don't make any sense otherwise.  That'll remind me not to wait till the last minute next time!

Thanks again for all the hard work to those who had their hands in the collecting and publishing of these decks.

Yes, there are penalties for being late.  I, for instance, am now on gregory's hit list.  We used to be friends, so there you have it. But I'm still in for doing this again in 2012!

What emails, gregory dear?  Did I make ALL of you crazy?  Shall I bow out of helping you and skad1?  I know I'm a mixed bag of reliability but I do like to show I come through in the end...which for those of you who think I somehow slaved away on this for months on end like skad1 and gregory did, I most certainly did NOT.  I played hooky most of the year and gave everyone high blood pressure.  I just want to be up front with my atrociousness (and gregory's probably well-placed motive for her hit list).

I draw the Ace of Cups for all of you who feel hurt, abandoned, insulted, less-than-perfect, not up to par, merely human or just not extraordinary.  ALL of you.

And I draw the Ace of Cups for all of you who wish the rest of us were perfect and you noticed, to your dismay, that we are not.

I draw the Ace of Cups for all of you who have expressed yourselves in innocence, annoyance, a fit of pique, anger, jest or good will.

I draw the Ace of Cups for all who might lurk and be intimidated by the noisy people like me, who are noisy by nature.

I draw the Ace of Cups for all who wanted to hear a voice from the quiet ones and never did.

Drinks all around, my loves.  We are all here in our many voices. Let us celebrate ourselves and each other.

What a shame - there isn't one !

Hullo Janet.

I hope you will not leave the entire forum because of one person's comment that upset you.
I was thoroughly insulted by someone on the first collaborative.
So while I probably won't do another one because of that, I am still fairly active on the rest of the forum.
I hope you'll reconsider.

I believe that member was me. :f

Assuming it was - it was the result of a misunderstanding on my part, followed by more misunderstanding all round, and in any event nothing in my post was intended to be an insult - your work is some of the best around, and you know I think so. Assuming I am right, I apologise unreservedly for all that, posted in a moment of GREAT frustration, not that that is an excuse, and will positively grovel if you or anyone else wishes. The deck is poorer for the lack of your art, and we are all the losers. So I also apologise to everyone else for depriving them of it.

If it would bring you back IN, I would cheerfully (well, no, not cheerfully as then I couldn't; HAVE one, but I would !) drop out myself.

I would also add a grovelling smiley or two but they seem to be acting very oddly today - so here is my sorrow, as the best I seem to be able to do... :sd

Ah, no... and there's no 'Add as Friend', either. How unobservant of moi...:D

Still, I don't need buttons to ignore myself...

Now what we really need here is a 'Generate New and Exciting Tarots' button.

Edited to add that this is my 777th post - is that lucky or what...?

Also, re. the insults and misunderstandings, I blame the damned pixels, which seem to change one's original and intended meaning on the sly and cause no end of trouble.

Hi guys, i haven't been getting notifications so i haven't thought to pop over here and comment.

1. each year there seems to be at least one card that that i don't like, or even offends me.  but there are also cards that i think are the bestest ever for that card (this years High Priestess, as an example, or the tower card)  i took this years happy squirrel as Janet saying how happy she is to be a collector and an artist.  you could always draw a mustache on her to disguise her.  ( :? )  but the variety is exactly why were do a collaborative deck, rather than a deck purely by invite, created to be inclusive.  (BTW, this does not mean i didn't like the happy squirrel)

2. every year we have been very specific that decks are to go only to contributors, and that is used as an incentive to contribute.  i am willing to bet eventually decks will show up on ebay or wherever.  collections get dispersed, whether from economic necessity, or a beneficiary not understanding or caring.  but that is different, and not part of what we decided as a group about the initial sales.

3. i never lost money on the 2 years i financed the original deck purchase.  it was close the first year because i didn't know to factor in the decks and shipping for adam and the museu.  but then afew guardian angels chipped in some extra and i was good.  both years there were people who didn't get the deck, but there were always enough that wanted an extra copy to balance them out.  i knew my job was dicey so i chose not to do the financing this year, which turned out good because i did get laid off.

4. do we want to start a 2012 now?  or how about a quick 22 card pre-2012?  are ya'll up to a challenge?  I have an idea for a 22 card deck for the forum, but it'd be a challenge and not thrill a few.  it is a themed deck, but would only work for this forum.  want me to work it up for ya'll?

5. if we do a 22 deck or wait for another 78 card deck, i am willing to do the organization this year.  i needed a break, but then i missed it!  i would need someone to help with the financing, and help emailing would be nice too, but that;'s optional, especially if gregory really does step back

6.  i think special thanks should go out to gregory.  the emails to everyone are really a hassle.  the organization and stuff is easy and fun for me.  i think it was because of her efforts you are getting your decks now, middle of november.  last year the lucky ones got them for Christmas, the unlucky had to wait for the new year.  that is a significant difference,  so thanks sweetie!

final note: after all the good and bad....

WE ROCK !!!!

:ro:gi:ok:ce:ro:tt:ok:tt:ok

THIS IS AN AWSOME DECK THAT I AM REALLY PROUD TO HAVE BEEN A PART OF.  THANK YOU, ONE AND ALL.

Re. the 22 pre-2012, I'm intrigued, but honestly think that one deck a year is enough. I'd probably contribute if 21 others were keen though...

time wise that's the one i meant, do a 'quick' 22 card one, then in feb / mar start the regular 78 card deck.

so

dec 2011 to feb/mar 2012 -'22 card challange deck'

feb/mar 2012 to july 2012 - 78 forum deck where anything goes (sorts, within our regular guidelines)

Hi goldenweb and skad1,
OnePotato didn't really want to interrupt the thread rehashing old news, but I feel there are some things that need clarifying here.

I don't believe "pixels" had much to do with the problem.

For those who weren't around or don't recall, for the 2008 TCF Collaborative deck OnePotato did the deck layout, card back, custom wrappers, supplied the card stock and 6-color inkjet ink, did color correction, printed and cut the decks and wrappers, and covered the shipping costs. (A few people chose to pay an optional $10 for printed card backs.) Blank backed decks were entirely free to participants. He did this so that any artists who wanted to participate could do so without having to consider the financial burden, and would not have to go without a copy of their work.

Of course this involved quite a bit of labor, and quite a bit of time, particularly since it had to be done in between his real life obligations.

Unfortunately our printer suffered a clogged head, and despite his best efforts to soak it in solvent for a few weeks, it ultimately had to be replaced entirely. This was explained on the forum, and OP apologized for the delay.

At one point, Gregory posted a public call to have him fired from the project, and asked if anyone was willing to replace him. She went on to say that he should have been paid in the first place, as then there would be a legal "contract" that he could be held to, and people would feel free to complain about his poor performance without feeling guilty.

When someone else expressed a bit of outrage about this, Gregory went back and edited her post to read like an innocent question about progress on the job, making it sound like she was being unfairly shouted down. (IMHO the whole thing could have been avoided from the outset with a simple PM rather than an attempt at public humiliation.)

Now, I don't see how anyone could characterize this as some sort of innocent "misunderstanding." But since it has been brought up again, I did think at least people should know what the issue was. For what it's worth, OP thinks it should be dropped, and believes the matter should have no bearing on future projects.

It is nice to see an apology after all these years.

Hope that clears up any confusion,
Little Window

Hello Little Window. I was absent from the forum for the creation of the first deck, (coincidentally due to a misunderstanding of a rather flippant and jokey post I made about card creation and Photoshop filters), so have no knowledge of the above. My comment re. pixels was intended generally and from my own experience rather than specifically.

Back to the annoyingly upbeat:  Arnell, Morwenna and blistersnbutterflies, your 2011 Collaborative Decks were mailed today!  I'll update that spreadsheet when I get to my other computer.

With respect, while I accept FULL responsibility for OP's hurt, and stand fully by my apology (and I did actually send one by PM at the time, though I found out MUCH later that several PMs I had sent via this forum (and AT, actually) never made it - I was at that time on VERY poor dialup) I didn't call for him to be FIRED, as in make him go away like people are given the sack - I suggested (ineptly) that someone else take over. At the time, it seemed that the printer was going to take forever to repair, and I thought that was a reasonable suggestion which would take the pressure off him. I edited my admittedly very tetchy post when I realised this had been very badly misunderstood, and also to prevent anyone else seeing it once I knew more about the issue... (I did want him paid, though. I ALWAYS wanted him paid - for his WORK, though.)

By the time I'd found out about the missing PMs - and I didn't actually know exactly which had gone AWOL; there were about 40 between the two forums, in total ! - I honestly thought he knew I was sorry and had taken it all back. Honestly I did.....:cs I still grovel unreservedly, and everyone may still hit me.

Peace to all and that.

Back to business - I now have FOUR missing in action packages from the US and this is (as far as I know) one of them...

I am not ordering ANYTHING else from the US till they show up. :sd

ETA I take THAT back ! OUR DECK has just shown up (delivered to a neighbour. It looks GREAT !) Three missing ones to go....

I just mailed Sacredashes' deck today!  Hooray!  If you contributed and still want your deck, it's not too late.

Also, I would like to thank one of our contributors who very generously paid for a deck for another contributor. The deck has been delivered to the mystery participant although they may not have seen it yet.

I want to wait until January 15 or so before I put the left over decks up for sale, just to give people a chance to order theirs if they have not yet done so.

Blessings of the solstice, the Yule, Christmas, the end of the fiscal year and anything else you may celebrate with my profound apologies for having left you out.  I just love tarot!

OK, did everyone get a deck who wanted to purchase one (contributors only, per Da Rools)?
