Just before Christmas I received an unexpected gift from
one of my Russian contacts. This tarot is one of those few
important items where the tarot designs rise above mere
decorative elements and present a social comment, or personal
biography, or in some way serve to document aspects of social
history.

I suspect few people will wish to add this to their
collection as the artwork is naive and not deliciously
decorative, but it does tell a story of our times, and in
decades to come, when the art of modern tarot is better
appreciated, this deck will be seen as significant.
Tarot is so much more than fortune telling.

You can see details in my tarot weblog entry for 2 January 2013.
