I got my first Tarot deck around 1970.  It was the JJ Swiss.  To make a long story short, I picked up Tarot some 30 years later with Ellen Cannon Reed's The Witches Tarot.

I haven't counted my decks, recently, but I would guess there are close to 200.  My serious collecting (or addiction as my family and friends call it), began about two years ago.  I have long since bypassed the larger publishers, and am really interested in self-published and/or out of print decks.  Recently, I was able to snag Clive Barrett's Egypiain Tarot, The William Blake Tarot by Ed Buryn and the Glastonbury Tarot.  I also have R.J. Stewart's Dreampower and Merlin Tarots.

I love the Maat Tarot by Julie Cuccia Watts and received her latest addition, The Maat Activity book, for Christmas.  I have the Maat Deck and Book , the Ancestral Path Deck and Book and the Blue Moon Tarot.

Yesterday I happened upon Adam McClean's Tarot Blog and found the Anna K. Tarot,  with scans of two of her cards.  I went immediately to her site and loved what I saw. I've ordered her deck.  Thank you, Adam, for being such a resource for Tarot.  I spent time reading your entire blog yesterday, and today I am here registering with the Tarot Collectors Forum.

When I am organized, I hope to take stock of all my decks.  In the meantime, I know I will be learning A LOT here and contributing as well.

Nicole,

Oh, yes, I agree with you, but I feel myself winding down.  I have so many of the decks on e-bay, so I look for OOP and self-published decks.  I just opened Elizabeth Hazel's Whispering Tarot.  What a beautiful deck!  Even though it is smaller than most decks, the art work is very detailed, and it just makes me happy to look at them.  Also, I love using my trusty magnifying glass.  I'm such a treasure hunter!

Hello!

I'm new here and was just strolling through the forum. I'm not a big collector, but I tried to find the  Anna K Tarot, because you wrote about it and it was also quite on top of Vgimlets wishlist.  I  had to google for it, but it was worth it. I'll definitely order a deck. Thank you for mentioning it!

Oh, you won't be disappointed.  I've had the deck for a few days now, and I am seriously thinking of ordering a 2nd one.  What is keeping me hooked and collecting decks is the fact that when they go out of print (OOP), they can cost hundreds of dollars to obtain.  If a deck has artistic merit, like Anna's does, when it goes out of print it will be impossible to get, ever again.  If you do find it, it will empty your bank account!

I so whole-heartedly agree! I received my Anna K about 3 weeks ago and it is now my main reading deck, I can't get enough of the images and how they speak to me.

Like an intimate friend with secrets. It's funny, when I opened the deck up and carefully looked through each card, the 4 & 10 of Swords were missing!

Just yesterday I got the missing cards from Anna, I was getting very anxious not having that "complete" deck, you know? Feels very unsettingly :?

So with a sigh of relief I placed the new cards among their seperated friends and shuffled them in. All is right with their world now! I definately want a 2nd copy, since she's only printed 500 decks, they will at some point run out. And they seem to be very popular! But $$ is extremely tight now, so it will have to be well in the future!

If not, no biggie. I have my deck with me, that's all I need.

Oh, my, how unsettling to have those two cards missing! And, I wasn't aware that there are only 500 copies of this deck.   Well, this deck comes before new sneakers, so I'll be ordering mine tonight.  Just like you, I felt like I was sitting  with old friends.  I especially was taken aback with  the lovers.  Having been married for 35 years, this card was so comfortable to settle into.  And I can't say enough about the Moon.  The water feels deep, dark and ready to overflow!

I am so glad you "get" why I was anxious about having 2 cards missing! I was a bit hesitant to post my dramatic feelings, fearing others would think me "odd".

But we are an odd bunch about our decks, aren't we? :ro

Also, when I have lost or damaged cards from a deck I have, and am so-so about, it's not a huge drama. But a brand new deck?! And one I instantly fell in love with and felt a very deep connection with?

:f

LOL! Anyways, it was not a good feeling. But Anna was and is just wonderful and so warm and friendly. She was so worried I would be upset! I was upset, but not AT her. I know she put them all together by hand.....what a ton of work that would be.

I also get lost in The Moon card! It has such a lucious glittery darkness to it. The way that image makes me feel changes in different readings too!

Sometimes it appears dark and foreboding, like I am getting lost with no hope. Other times the darkness and the moonlight glinting on the water makes me feel safe, calm and on the right path.

Yes, the Anna K is amazing!

You know, I've "lost" only one card from my horde of decks.  The Pearls of Wisdom Deck, is missing the Knight of Wands.  This happened this past fall, and I have searched EVERYWHERE for it.  I certainly don't think about it every week, but when I clean my space (the living room of our home), I am always puzzled.  I know it will turn up when I am not looking (don't they always?):ok; however, now I wonder if the missing Knight of Wands means something.  Maybe it represents  a Significator?  I've never used  a Significator, as it eliminates that card from a reading; however, I need to give more energy to the Knight of Wands and see what is to be revealed.....that in the midst of life in the Mundane World!

I have received a response from Anna for my second deck, and yes, she is warm and personable, which enhances the spirit she put into her Tarot.  I haven't done a reading, yet, but may do so tomorrow when I meet with my Saturday Tarot Group.

I just found this forum thanks to a link Ashes  had on her site.  This feels like a candy store to me :hp.
I have just started collecting in earnest, as I say.  I hope to leave my little collection to my granddaughters one day.  I doubt I will ever have anything worth a lot of money but they can keep them or sell them.
I will have to get all my computer equipment working before I can scan anything and put it up. For now I am enjoying all the discussion.
 Carry on.

Welcome Tansey! :D Isn't collecting a pure joy? I read as well, but just looking through my collection and all the art gives me endless pleasure!

I've slowed way way down. There are decks I want, but many haven't been published yet or are out of my price range at the moment. :D

Hi, I'm new to the forum as well.  What a wonderful source of information, ideas and kindness!

I collect, read, splurge (when possible, you know how that is), study and meditate.  Besides that, I'm doing a zillion other things, hence the need for meditation, particularly, to keep me out of the whirlpool.

Thanks so much to the folks I have talked to so far, all very kind!

Hello friends:

I replied for the first time in another thread and realized that although I've been reading through the forums here and there I've never introduced myself.
I make my very humble living as an artist and have been studying tarot and astrology for a few years now. I have adored Tarot since my teens and was thrilled to finally study in earnest.  I am fascinated by the language of tarot and of course the visual aspect. My biggest decision will be how to incorporate all I study with my artwork.
I have the full intention in not too long of taking Mr. Macleans courses as I am most attracted Western esoteric traditions particularly Christian Hermeticism and the Alchemic tradition.
I love all beautiful decks and own fewer than I did a couple of years ago when I began giving away many that did not resonate with me.  I find, maybe because I am an artist, the visual quality of decks is profoundly meaningful.
My very favorites are Robert Place's Alchemical and Saints decks, Kat Black's Golden and Touchstone. My deep study has been with the Universal Waite but because I'm reading Meditations on the Tarot now I'm fascinated with learning what came before Waite.

I am constantly combing the tarot sites for decks and images and don't buy nearly as many as I should.

Nice to "meet" you all.

Jamaha

Hi, This forum has such beautiful energy! i found it looking for images and came upon the wonderful pencil drawing for a deck reviewed and sold by Adam... I forgot the name... I may buy it because it is so evocative.
I have been reading cards professionally since 1986 in Seattle and London. I have known collectors, but my own collecting has usually been in the name of business and just needing new images to work with once in a while. As a result I have seen a lot of decks and owned and worked with quite a few. I also painted my own deck between Halloween 1996- 2000. It is Grail Bearer's Tarot. I wondered if I could discover in here how people self published. AGMuller was going to do in 2000, then they had a tower experience and things went pear shaped. It has sat since then -- though US Games put some of it in the 4th Encyclopedia of the Tarot. I may resubmit, but the idea of self publishing has crossed my mind.
I don;t want to appear spammy so I'll leave it at that. I will soon come back and see what else is going on.
Fun to be here,
Arlene deWinter

Hi,
Yes it is all displayed on my website in the gallery at
http://www.whiteswan-tarot.com.
I made it in the 1990's after some really powerful Faery magic I did.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers,

Thanks for a great site!

Thank you. If you click the image it comes up full size. I haven't been able to make them fit the screen.
I may send them out again to a publisher. But maybe I need to fix a few of them.
It is really exciting to find your website and forum. You show some magnificent Tarot decks. When I have the cash....

I'm sure I tried that before without any result, but you're right, it does! That's a decent size - they don't need to be larger. Good luck with the publisher, I've heard that the process can take ages though.

I really recommend pulling out every single Knight Wands from all your other decks, arranging them together on a table, and looking at them very carefully for some time.

I just wanted to say that I am pretty new to the forum as well! I've been around but haven't posted much until recently.

I am not a collector on a grand scale as many of you are. I only have a very small collection.

I don't think I'll ever be at the level of a gregory or a truelighth!

I was wondering, though. On this forum, when one wants to discuss an "ordinary" deck, one that is not rare, OOP or HTF, is this the right subforum?

For example, if I am excited about my new Kitty Kahane deck, even though I know it isn't rare, can I start a new thread in this area?

Welcome to the forum, dee.
It is really a nice place for lovers of Tarot art.
Adam publishes beautiful decks for collectors.  They really are gems and quite worth checking out.
The few I have been able to afford are the prize of my--small--collection!

Hi!

I am new to this forum, but post a lot on Aeclectic.

* waves *

I've been lurking here and there and have been hesitant to join a lot of forums, but I enjoy reading some of the threads here, and plan on adding to them too.

My first Tarot deck was the Aquarian Tarot and the first one that was given to me and passed on, was the Hoi Palli. My mother gave it to me and it is quite special as it was her first deck (which came to me well used and loved :ok).

Hi All, LuneBlanc here.  Brand new.  Just started.  I'm most interested in ANNA K deck, new edition.  See from this forum, not the only one:ok!   See there's been some changes to her site as in new cards in new deck.  I feel like a little kid waiting for a present!  New to collecting, new to tarot.  All tips appreciated!
