Oh, what wonderful news. I am already looking forward to holding our deck in my hands. Yum yum yum.

And I already said Happy Birthday to Skad1 on FB, so that counts too, right? :D

Hello, Lovelies, it's Shipping Day and I have the following contributors who have paid me for decks.  Please note where I have ? for the screenname, it means I don't know who you are (Lance F) so please let me know your screenname.  I need to be able to connect your name with the contributors list to keep it all on the up-and-up.

If you just KNOW you have paid me and you don't see anything on this list that indicates you have done so, please contact me immediately.  My invaluable helper Andrew and I are going to be packing and packaging today.  I have the notes about the "conservative bank", the "extra hardy wrapping for NZ" and the "don't send it to the address in France".  If there were any other special notes, please let me know now.

Smoochies!!  :kt

My dears!  If you have paid for your deck, it is in the mail.

If you have not paid for your deck, why not?  It's delightful!  Contact me with your heartfelt excuses, explanations and promises.

Love and smoochies, M

Whoa! I just got home to find mine in the mailbox. (I guess it's an advantage of being in the same general area of Marcia.)

Have only made an initial quick scan through the cards, but so far, looking good.

Haha, if it weren't for the price of gasoline, I would have driven yours over!!

So glad it has arrived in good shape.

By the way, our own CrystalGate has asked if she can do a review of the deck and include some images. I asked her to contact the individual artists since our rule is that the copyright remains with the artist.  Let her know if you're ok.

Got mine today (addressed to my husband, of course - so it sat on the counter unopened ALL DAY!). Argh.

Love it. Fabulous job, everyone! We are a talented bunch, aren't we?? :D

A question re: sacredashes' 10 of Cups - is there part of the quote cut off? It says "Much of your pain is the bitter potion by which".

Ace Of Wands designer/credit is missing from lwb.

My personal especial favorites:

Hierophant (a card I don't usually like!)

Strength

Hermit

Star

Sun

Judgement

4 of Cups

8 of Cups

9 of Cups

10 of Cups

8 of Swords

9 of Swords

9 of Pents

10 of Pents

My only negative is the Happy Squirrel Card.  I don't think it's a proper representation of the true collaborative nature of the group to have one person's photo included on the card. I will probably just remove it....a shame.

Bring on 2012!!!

Hi Kimber,

I didn't know there were rules of what could and couldn't be included in the card; or maybe more precisely, of what should or shouldn't be included in the card.

I'm sorry my card disgusts you so much. Maybe you can just burn it.

And because of your cruel comments, I will probably be leaving this forum.

Janet, my comments weren't intended to be "cruel" - it is just my opinion that hilighting one person in the group detracts from the deck.  "Disgusts" is your word, not mine!! No offense was intended. It may work just fine for others.

The other half of the quote is on the 10.... Put them together and you get a single image. See what you mean if you draw one alone though !

Hi, Kimber, I guess you're just touching on the cusp of what makes it difficult to put this deck together.

Not everyone is going to like everyone else's artistic contributions.  It's a collaborative deck and it's a collage of efforts.

skad1 struggled to get everyone to submit their LWB entries in a timely manner (including *blush* me, the tardy one).  Several contributors feel comfortable submitting their artwork but are very shy to attempt to write about it.

Some people don't have the tools or knowledge to figure out how to submit high-resolution images.  Behind the scenes the team tries to work with those folks too so they can still be successful in their contributions.  We don't name names of course because we love them and don't want them to be discouraged.

It's expensive even though skad1 has found us a bang-up printer.  Someone, one of us (this year it's me) has to pay for all the decks in advance so that we can receive them.  Then, we're dependent on people coming through as they indicated to pay for their own deck.  We tried to get an exact formula to make sure all contributors pay for is the deck + shipping and handling, plus one copy for Adam and one copy for the Museo.  When people don't pay this year (you can do the math from the list of who has paid subtracted from the number of contributors), I get stuck with the extra decks and the extra cost.  Technically, there aren't supposed to be extra decks, so at some point I think I'm honor-bound to burn them!

Our chief nagger and cattle-prod-in-chief gregory has done everything short of dancing on people's heads to make sure that people meet deadlines for submissions of artwork, bios and descriptions.

We do our best so that it isn't a 2011 deck published in 2012!  When they go out, we're thrilled.  When people acknowledge receipt, we're thrilled.  And we hope to do this again in 2012.  Despite the trouble and the downsides, this is a very cool project that I love, personally.

I hope the contributors are proud of their work, will all be brave enough to write bios and descriptions next year, will all be financially flush to pay for their decks and will encourage others to be part of this wonderful collaboration.  We are all Happy Squirrels here.

Oh, and Janet, really the only comment I had about the HS card was that it seemed like a modest sized-collection considering the squirreling away I know I do...my mere 300-400 decks pale in comparison to some collections here!  Otherwise, we know what squirrel-hearts are and the pleasure of the hoard!  Your picture does depict that, surely.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed and who will continue to contribute.  We love you all.

And of course if you haven't paid for your deck and you meant to and it just slipped your mind or you were waiting for the check to come in from the Ace of Pentacles, there's still time to get yours!

This is so true, Marcia; I've had PMs from people saying are we really going to allow x, y, z cards.... Short of taking a vote on every card - basically, yes ! Someone volunteers - that's who gets the card. The number of cards allowed for each person is limited partly so as to minimise the ones someone who hates that person's work won't like.

What IS a collaborative deck ? Is it one where we all submit cards and then the organisers get to say Nope, not that one ? Do we showcase them and offer to can those that get the thumbs down from - how many people ? Contributors only ? People who do wonderful art ? what would be the criterion ?

I don't like all the cards. Big deal. I didn't in other years either. I assume there are people here who don't like mine. That's OK too. I was part of a project within a community, is all.

But I don't love you all. I will say that. You didn't stick to the freaking timetable. :ww For that I could cheerfully murder several of you.

But it's all over now. I wait mine with interest.

Whew, and for that, knowing my name is on a list somewhere, I am grateful that the Pond sometimes separates us, my precious gregory!  I feel like Inspector Clouseau with Cato waiting in stealth around any corner!

Got mine today and am very pleased. It seems that this deck has a cohesiveness to it, perhaps it's the borders.  Well done everyone!

Hullo Janet.

I hope you will not leave the entire forum because of one person's comment that upset you.
I was thoroughly insulted by someone on the first collaborative.
So while I probably won't do another one because of that, I am still fairly active on the rest of the forum.
I hope you'll reconsider.

I second that (and all {or most of...} the above from gregory and Marcia). The TCF Tarot is my Must Have Tarot every year - it wouldn't be the same without your contribution.

Marcia, you know this would be a CRIME, and no one would expect you to dispose of them in that way! (Not that I really think you're serious.)

Perhaps we should make a plan re. the extra decks and and set up a poll or something...?

In previous years the contributors could buy extra copies but NO-ONE else. So they don't end up on ebay.

Is there any logical reason why the leftover decks shouldn't be auctioned on ebay or offered on Aeclectic's Trading Forum? It would help defray costs... Marcia certainly shouldn't be out of pocket.

Yes. It has always been the deal that they were for contributors only. This was hashed out in a long discussion when we did the first one.

If they were going to be up on ebay by people out to make a quick buck - well, I, for one, would not join in again.

I doubt if Marcia will be out of pocket - as far as I know we have always managed to sell them off among ourselves - though Sherry may now tell me otherwise.

Here's my list, which may be imperfect if I have not been able to match your real name and mailing address with your screenname here. SoulYogurt declined the opportunity to purchase the deck.  As far as I know I have sent messages to everyone and have two people who have paid and have been mailed their deck whose screennames I cannot identify.  If you wouldn't mind, could you assist me and if you see your identity here twice, please let me know through a PM.  If you do no plan to purchase your deck, could you please let me know?  Smoochies.

Now that I am calm (at least calmer) than the last time I posted, I'd like to thank everyone who asked me to stay in the group, a group that I very much enjoy being a part of.  And I will stay in, because I would have been "cutting off my nose to spite my face" if I had left.

When other people have written that they were also insulted by other members, I wonder what has happened to good manners and consideration to others? This forum is a microcosm of the macrocosm, and I'm noticing out there in the world, people have less patience and tolerance then they used to. I've observed they are ending relationships and situations, sometimes very abruptly. Some of that is due to the harsh planetary patterns in the sky, and some of it is due to the uncertainty of the future and the extra stress most people are under these days, IMHO.

We can and should all make our points and express our feelings. I have no problem with Kimber not liking my card. But with a little extra thought, hopefully we can make our points tactfully and without shaming, blaming, or insulting anyone. That is my wish for us at the Tarot Collectors Forum. After all, there are enough people who don't like (or are afraid of) tarot cards out there, that we should all stick together and be supportive of each other in here. :D

 My three pentacles...

Hmmmm. They could still end up on ebay if those contributors (or any of us for that matter) decided to sell a copy.

Janet, glad you're staying.

I remember that in the past, I think with the TCF2 deck, we first did an inventory of who wanted to buy the deck from the contributors. That way, nobody would be out of pocket. Or is that not possible for another reason. I do think it should not be mandatory to buy one if you contribute. If it would be, then maybe some people would not take part and that would be a pity.:kt

Looking forward to seeing the deck! :ce

No you shouldn't be obliged to buy one. But we did also agree that non-contributors - except Adam and the Museo - couldn't, but contributors could buy extras if they liked.

I admit to skipping that step of asking who wanted to buy before we ordered, hence my willingness to take on the expense of my mistake.  Contributors are NOT obligated to purchase a deck.  It is optional.

I just want to make sure everyone gets one who wants one.

Ok, I just wanted to clear that up really. Maybe next time, we should first make an inventory. Last year, I think Skad1 also didn't.

And I agree, non-contributors (except Museo and Adam), shouldn't be able to buy them. But I do think it would be a pity for Marcia to be out of pocket. I remember getting an extra copy of the TCF2, which was very nice.

Thanks, I was feeling the pressure of holding up the schedule and rushed to get our print numbers. Seriously, no cats will starve if I pay for a few decks!  But I will offer the extras for sale to contributors.

Payments are trickling in and thanks to all who have placed their orders.  I think I'll hold it open until the end of next week and then start offering up the extras for sale to the contributors.  Sound OK, everyone?

Yah! Mine also arrived! :ce:ce:ce

I have to say, I didn't expect it to get here so fast. But it was. And it is absolutely great. The borders do give the whole deck some coherency that is just wonderful. I am just very happy with it. :hp
