When Fulcanelli Hints At The Alchemical Origin Of The Symbol Of The Rose-Cross

"Today’s sharing from the Blue House of Via-Hygeia presents two key excerpts from Fulcanelli’s masterworks: Le Mystère des Cathédrales (Pauvert-1979, pp. 137–139) and Les Demeures Philosophales, Volume 1, Book II, Chapter II (Pauvert-1979, pp. 338-363). Presented here is a Via-HYGEIA English translation from the original French. We did not include the heavy body of notes, as they would have diverted our focus from these two mesmerizing texts, which speak eloquently for themselves. Comprehensive notes can be found in all common French and English editions."

"Following her recent solo exhibition at Modern Art Oxford, the British artist Suzanne Treister, an early adopter of digital and web-based practices, is currently participating in the major group show ‘Pixel Pioneers’ at the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam. Taking the form of a tarot deck, a divination aid invented in the 15th century, her celebrated work HEXEN 2.0 (2009-2011) explores the often-shadowy Postwar origins of our contemporary digital terrain, from cybernetics to the early Internet, government surveillance to military research. Complemented by alchemical diagrams, photo-text pieces, a video, and a website, Treister’s tarot cards are, she has said, ‘meant to be used as a tool, allowing thought to take unexpected turns and directions, and perhaps result in “positive” action in the world.’

"Drawing from Jung’s fascination with alchemical symbolism as manifestations of archetypal structures within the collective unconscious, Antimon approaches alchemy not as historical curiosity, but as a metaphorical framework for psychic transformation. The ancient transmutation of lead into gold becomes a symbol for the purification and integration of the fragmented self, mirroring the process Jung identified as individuation. Echoing Sigmund Freud’s famous statement, “Where id was, there ego shall be,” the album navigates the unstable threshold between shadow and consciousness, dissolution and reconstruction."

"Alchemy is a temporary, immersive installation at the Bank of England Museum created by Melek Zeynep Studio for the London Festival of Architecture. Rooted in the ancient ideas of alchemy, the work explores belonging as a process of transformation, connection, and shared presence rather than a fixed state."

When: 15 June to 3 July 2026

"Alchemy is often associated with the Philosopher’s Stone, a legendary substance believed to transform matter and reveal hidden knowledge. In this project, the Philosopher’s Stone is reimagined not as an object, but as an experience. The installation responds to the movements, voices, and bodies of visitors, turning individual presence into something collective. As people move through the space, reflections shift, sounds change, and the environment is subtly altered. Belonging emerges through participation, through being seen, heard, and reflected back by the space and by others within it."
