According to legend, his life spanned over two hundred years. Elevated to the status of an immortal within the Daoist tradition, he is one of the most well-known figures among the Eight Immortals. At the same time, Lü Dongbin is also a historical figure, mentioned in the official chronicle History of Song, and widely regarded as one of the earliest masters of neidan, or internal alchemy."
