Frontispiece to Pretiosa Margarita - Adam McLean - 03-23-2023 Here is the emblematic engraved frontispiece in the German edition of the Pretiosa Margarita. Leipzig 1714. As far as I know, it is not included in the earlier Latin version, such as that of Venice, 1546. RE: Frontispiece to Pretiosa Margarita - Adam McLean - 03-23-2023 This seemingly rather cryptic diagram appears a few pages later in the book. It has a text in both Latin and German which seems to explain it. When I have the opportunity I will translate it as I am a bit intrigued by this strange image. RE: Frontispiece to Pretiosa Margarita - Paul Ferguson - 03-23-2023 Weren't these added by Stoll? https://www.labyrinthdesigners.org/alchemic-pictures/stoll-the-lacinius-translator-on-male-and-female-elements/ https://tinyurl.com/26rkw3ny RE: Frontispiece to Pretiosa Margarita - Adam McLean - 03-24-2023 Yes, you are correct there. These are found in the 1714 edition, but not in the earlier editions, as far as I know. Thanks for the link to the article. |
