Herbert Silberer - Paul Ferguson - 03-08-2023 Herbert Silberer was one of the first psychologists to adoptĀ a psychoanalytical approach to alchemy. His book 'Probleme der Mystik und ihrer Symbolik' (Vienna, 1914) is available here in a translation by Dr. S. E. Jelliffe as 'Hidden Symbolism Of Alchemy And The Occult Arts' (previous title: 'Problems of Mysticism and its Symbolism'). Silberer provides a really excellent summary of alchemy in Part II Section II. This is followed by his psychoanalytical commentary: https://archive.org/details/hidden-symbolism-of-alchemy-and-the-occult-arts-by-dr.-herbert-silberer/page/n1/mode/2up The original German text can be found here: https://archive.org/details/Silberer_1914_Mystik_und_ihre_Symbolik_k RE: Herbert Silberer - Paul Ferguson - 07-17-2026 Joel Blackstock article about him here: Herbert Silberer: Exploring the Frontiers of Psychoanalysis and Alchemy https://gettherapybirmingham.com/blog/herbert-silberer-exploring-the-frontiers-of-psychoanalysis-and-alchemy/ |
