I was surprised when my search didn't show any threads on this deck.

Maybe I'm not doing something right & if someone can point me in the right direction I would be Thankful.

I'd like to hear opnions of these cards.

You could get some information from the Savage Tarot website. All the cards are pictured, and there is a bit about the deck and artist. The site warns " Not for the faint of heart" Regretfully, I don't have it.

How did I miss this. I love it - if that's the word. The pix on the site do NOT do it justice....

Since going out of print, it occasionally appears on Ebay at around $150 -$200.

In theory only, yes.

I finally acquired a copy today on ebay for about $125 US.  It was significantly less than the typical selling price because the original packaging was missing.

Regardless I am extremely excited.

Hi all,

I just stumbled on this forum today. I realize these posts are quite old at this point, but I'm contemplating bringing this tarot back. If any of you still have interest, please let me know. It's not an undertaking I'm willing to pursue if the interest isn't there.

best & cheers,

Why don't you create a another tarot, rather than merely reprinting?

I am sure you will have moved on a little from when you created the original images and you might have some more striking ideas. It would be more fun to create a Savage II.

Hi Adam,

That idea has actually been floating around for a while, and one I'm deeply considering. I'd prefer to create a new deck rather than reprint, but I'm just feeling out the interest at this point.

Hi Michelle,

I purchased your original on ebay recently and enjoy it immensely; it is in a collectors case in our library.

I like Adam's thoughts on a new one, but only if the inspiration is there. I think the Savage absolutely needs a re-issue. My recommendation would be to work meticulously on improving the print quality so some of the images are not so dark. If that was the case, and produced in an affordable pressing  I know a lot of fellow enthusiasts who would pick it up!

Thanks for posting

Your edition for the Savage was 100 copies. That is a reasonable amount to sell for an expensive limited edition.

If you were to reprint, surely you would be unable to produce the special windowed tin box and the little booklet.

It seems totally unlikely that you would sell another 100 at any speed. As most of the major collectors will already have a copy, sales of a new edition would be extremely slow, and it might take some years to pay off the capital costs of printing and packaging a new edition.

With specialist high priced limited editions, one can get an immediate rush of orders, but once the major collectors have bought copies, it takes a while to sell off the others, as the less involved collectors take a long time to decide what to buy with their more limited tarot-allocated funds.

True enough on all accounts. Good input Adam, thank you.

In terms of the quality of reprint, I was definitely not thinking about replicating the original. The packaging, the deck, the book (which was hand made), would all be different... more generic I think. It would be a reprint, after all.

I do think I have seen your deck mentioned many times on Aeclectic Tarot forum. Especially when someone is looking for a more darker deck.

This forum is mostly collectors, while on Aeclectic, there are also readers. So you may also want to feel out interest there. Good luck.

I for one missed this deck the first time around, but would definately get a re-print.   There are also a few collectors out there who, er, tend to buy reprinted versions of decks they like, especially if the re-print is slightly different in some ways.

As someone who owns (and really likes) the original version and typically doesn't buy multiple editions of decks, I would buy a new edition of the Savage if the printing were more representative of the images as presented on the web site. I remember, back when I got the deck, going through the cards and comparing them to the web images and realizing there were details and textures visible on the web that were just not readily visible on the cards. (On the other hand, I love the incredible subtlety of the barely visible title on the backs of the cards.)

Good to know, Gregory. :) But there's just no way I can or will replicate the original. If that's what the many people are after, it's just not going to happen.

I've always been disappointed in the image vibrancy myself. (The title was meant to be incredibly subtle.) It's those little details that were most often important to me. I know what happened there and worked to fix it, but what was produced was the best possible outcome, given what I had. I do know that press printing has come a long way in the last six years, which is another reason why I'm considering a reprint.

Thank you so much for your feedback!

I think what they want are those images.... the box etc are not the issue.

Yep.   Exactly.   I wouldn't expect the same as the first edition, for many reasons.   But I will keep an ear out if you decide to re-print.

I would definitely be interested in a reprint or newer, more AWESOME Savage Tarot!

My boyfriend looks for it feverishly, but we have not yet found a copy. It feels all 100 have finally gone to homes that want them. No stragglers!

The Savage Tarot has been OOP for a while. And it seems to be a reasonably well recognised deck as far as I cann tell. I would guess that in a growing community there will be enough people to be interested in a new edition/version of the savage tarot. I am another one of the newbees who haven't been around when the savage was available and who would buy a copy instantly.

Hello all,

Just a quick note to let everyone know the Savage Tarot is being republished. This is an unlimited edition. It is very similar to the original with a few exceptions.

* The cards are a vibrant, full color printing, although the card stock is not as superb as the original (IMO).
* There have been very subtle changes to the framing of the images.
* They measure 2.75 x 4.75.
* They are packaged in a tuck box.
* There are two, full color 5x8 booklets included with all the original written content/descriptions.

These decks will retail for $60, but will not be publicly available until December 15th. Until then, if you would like to place a pre-order, I'm happy to do so. I'm in the final proofing stage for the decks. I should get the last set in around the 12th of this month. The deck and packaging is good to go, I'm just working out some kinks with the booklet. I foresee no problems with this last proof, at all. The company I'm using is pretty freaking amazing. So, all pre-orders will be placed after I receive and approve of the final proof.

Of course you can always stay up to date with this via my facebook, https://www.facebook.com/michelle.xcreative.7 or my fan page here, https://www.facebook.com/MichelleX.creative or website, http://michellex.com.

I would encourage you to join my facebook as there are images of the proofs, and that's where I tend to update the most.

All the best,
MichelleX
