I am trying to identify which edition of the RG I have...

Doesn't have a year on it.... I am guessing early 70's perhaps, doesn't have a year noted on it and the booklet wasn't included when I received them.
Does anyone know?

The backs on your cards are different...interesting! Maybe an older deck!
Also, one of my LWB covers is White on Black, the other is White on Red.

These are from 1974, I believe. I also have both versions - it was first printed only in red, yellow and green (and the red is a bit pink, on the VERY earliest) – the second version is red, yellow and BLUE - and is from 1975. According to me, anyway. I researched this at the time I got them, but would have to go and check out where I got the info and don't have time just now. Both came with instructions extracted from Gardner's book "The Tarot Speaks" (the first page of which is blank.)

OK - the FIRST version - the pale green one, as I said - is the one with the lyre-like back, and the box is quite different; instead of the back you show, it has black and white print round two sides. The words up to "Magician" are on the back (in landscape orientation) and on the side - also "landscape" - is "This pack has been brought out by Richard Gardner, an authority on the Tarot. See his books "Evolution through the Tarot" for the doctrine and "the Tarot Speaks" for Fortune telling." It also has an LWB with the lyre thing on the front - exactly like lulucat's. That one is from 1974. Mine also contains a sheet about court cards put out by Manorplace - but I have no idea where it came from....
In 1975 you get the one with brighter green and the box you show with yours Demian - with a fair bit of red on it (there is no red bordering etc on the 1974 version box.) My book with that one is white on red on the cover. It says it is from Rigel Press; the first does not. It has the horsey backs. The print quality is coarser (which is saying something, with this one !!!)
Lastly is my one with blue instead of most of the green, published under the name English Tarot. The box to this has the date 1975 as well, and the back is full of ads for Rigel's products. The card is matter (if that is a word - I mean more matte !) and the print quality better - it has been cleaned up and clarified on most cards. The backs are a fine red and white pattern. No LWB - information is on additional cards. It doesn't credit Gardner anywhere.
I have never seen the back with the eye.

The back with the 2 capital 'I's (Insite Institute) with the 'eye symbol' is the original, to the best of my knowledge, as gleaned from here -

Also mentioned in Kaplan vol 1 p.23, but unfortunately no date given.
Interestingly, although his books are mentioned, I can not find Richard Gardner's RG tarot in any of Kaplan's encyclopedias.

Time to wake this thread up again! LOL
I have the R.G. and the Rigel (aka English), and as Gregory states, the colors are different. The earlier (R.G.) is three color, while the Rigel is 4 color. I also have two copies of the Insight Institute deck (with the II and eye on the obverse). Originally, I had intended to keep one and stash theother with my duplicates, but upon examining them side by side I believe they are from different printings, simply due to the fact that the card stock of one has a more tactile matte finish and paler colors with a thinner card stock, while the other has a slicker. more glossy finish with thicker card stock.
The thin/matte edition also came with a leaflet - just a small foldover. It references copyright the Insight Institute, Insight House, Surbiton, Surey, but no date. IMHO, the II deck dates to 1970 or earlier.
Anyone else have further ...er...insights??
