Received a quite lovely little doujin art book today entitled Innocence: Angelique Tarot Card Illustration. Published in 2000, the illustrations are by Marumi Yamamoto, an illustrator and game graphic designer.

It's listed at Tarot Garden, but a few details of the description are slightly off, so I thought I'd add a bit of first-hand info here.

The book is about 6" x 10" with a very nicely printed color cover on textured stock.

Each of the 22 black and white illustrations associates one or more characters from various incarnations of Angelique to a tarot card. Each card gets a double-page spread with the illustration on the right with a French title and Japanese text on the left along with the English names of the card and the character(s).

While not symbolically deep (to say the least), there is at least some attempt to incorporate basic tarot elements into most of the cards. And the quality of the illustrations themselves is quite professional.

Ms. Yamamoto has a web site at http://cgi.din.or.jp/~miffys/mainmenu.htm that offers mail order of this and a few other of her books, but the site doesn't appear to have been updated since 2003, so I don't know if it's still active.

A few more of the illustrations at the Tarot Garden.
