from the images i've seen online, i really love the treatment of the visuals of this deck. kinda similar to the new century, but like it's feminine counterpart. i remember reading in Aeclectic about a 78-card version being recently released. would anyone know where this version can be bought? and, does this deck come with any other name?

ah, i thought the ones in TG are the 22 card version. thankfully, a friend in japan might be coming home for the holidays *crosses fingers* though i must say the one in the link's a bit pricier than other mass-market decks. would the magical forest be available in japan as well? i'd do a search for it but then i figured nothing would probably come up as the site's in japanese. thanks yet again.

Hello,
I'm looking to buy Stella's Simple Tarot, however, I'm looking for the full 78 card deck. I've been to eBay to see what's available but only came up with one person offering and it was for the 22 card deck. Adam mentioned on his posting site that A.G. Mueller is printing the full 78 card deck, but I went online there as well, and there's no mention of this deck, either 22 or 78. I went so far as to email A.G. Mueller and ask about it, but haven't received a reply yet. Any suggestions for further looking/finding, I'd appreciate it. Thank you. Ms. Max

Thank you for the website. It did have the full deck...I think....trouble is it's all in japanese characters and I can't read a word of it.
I tried as best I could to see if there wasn't somewhere on the page where you could change over to english but I can't make any of the language characters out.
I did contact dream_baby at ebay and she wrote she's out but will try and get some more decks in.
Hmmm,...I wonder if I wrote to Stella and see if she knows any english.
Here's a picture of her. I like seeing who creates the various tarot decks, although
Stella didn't do the neat illustrations.

So Roppo and Kenji are members of Aeclectic Tarot Forum? I am a member at AT, but have never contributed to the Forum, in fact rarely, or never, go there. I use the main site to view card deck pictures, but I've never really hunkered down and tried to acquire a particular deck before. Thanks for your help. I will go to AT Forum and see about finding Roppo and/or Kenji and see if they can help out. The google translation of the website selling Stella's Simple is not overwhelmingly useful, leaving too many of the asian characters as is and undecipherable.

I think the best thing is to ask baby_dream to get you a copy. It might take a few weeks or even a month or so but one will turn up. One sometimes needs a degree of patience when buying tarots.
I would not try an buy an item online from a Japanese site. It is often difficult enough in buying items direct from a French or Italian bookshop.
I have managed to buy items from a Japanese tarot dealer in Japan, but he could read and write English. If you cannot wait for Baby_dream to get you a copy you can buy one from

p.s. I love this forum you've put together. I belong to a number of other forum sites at Linux this and that and so many of them are difficult to write and copy/paste things into. As are places like Answers.com and even Aeclectic. Your site is a breeze and I can add pics and animations, even, without any difficulty. You get my No. One Best Award for Forum User-Friendliest.
I'm delighted to that you exist. I have about 60 decks of my own and on my computer I have over 500 folders of the individual decks I've come across with who created and illustrates them and the publish date if it's available. Your website alchemywebsite.com is very informative, too, which many other sites don't afford me so I have to go hunt and peck to find out authors/creators and illustrators, etc. Garden Tarot is another good, and rare place, where there's lots of info available.
I'm big into graphics and since the advent of the computer I can save all manner of jpgs and gifs of card decks, which I collect for their visual qualities as much as anything else.
Thanks again on the advice about waiting for baby_dream and for mentioning her in the first place.

I wrote A.G.Mueller, a Swiss company that prints tarot decks, about Stella's Simple and why there was no record of it on their website.

I bought 78 cards version in Japan.
This one is printed by AG Muller.
Nichiyu(Japanese Distributor of US Games and LoScarabeo) and Stella Kaoruko are joint-ventured and they order AG Muller to print Stella's Simple Tarot.
I don't know why AG Muller officially doesn't mention about this case.
Anyway in Japan it is easy to obtain this deck.
If anyone want to see 78-version printed by AG Muller,
I am to up photo-image later.

This original version is also sold in Japan.

As for Stella's Simple, I'm holding out for the 78-card deck (coming in March 2008 thru A.G.Müller) which will have 56 additional Takako Hoei illustrations to savor. (Stella's Simple is created by Stella Kaoruko, but it's Takako who draws the wonderful illustrations. Takako Hoei has her own website, fyi at: http://www.eonet.ne.jp/~moonlantern/e-profile.html)

The Fool card is from a Taiwanese deck called, Energy
Adam (alchemywebsite.com) features it here http://www.alchemywebsite.com/tarot/tarot_directory_taiwanese.html
under his collection of Taiwanese decks. I have no idea what the other cards look like but I like them. My favorite card in tarot is The Fool card and in addition to folders for any decks I'm looking at or own, I have a folder exclusively where I keep the Fool card from over 400 decks now.
What deck is your blue cow from, if it is from a tarot deck?

Cool, I just ordered the Energy deck from mangaarts.com!
It's a neat idea to keep a pix from each deck for reference. The back would be helpful too. Sometimes if decks are similar the back is the quickest way to tell which is which. Are you willing to share folders?
I just looked at your profile to see where you were at. You were born on New Years Day??!!! wow, what a way to start the year.
The Blue Cow is from the Flying Hearts Tarot. The full card is below. the book is all in German so I'm not sure what the card is about, I just like it!

Too cool, that you ordered the Energy deck from mangaarts. How much is it?
I have 83 tarot decks and another 15 or so divination types. I've never been to mangarts before. Is that a reliable site? Are their prices reasonable?
You mentioned about sharing folders. YIKES. I have over 800 folders of different
tarot decks in various condition of completeness as far as images of all cards per deck.
I try and have a cover of the box (front and back when available), plus as many images as I can scrounge off the internet. I also include the backs of the cards when I can get a view. One of my most fruitful sites, as far as getting full decks and decent sized images is the rusjoker.ru site which is now hosted by eh....
http://mxatru.ru/WWPCM/ The WWPCM stands for World Web Playing Card Museum. They have zillions of cards online, but if you're dogged, you can find whole pages of tarot decks. Another relatively good source is taroteca. If you're interested I'll find you the url. The only problem with taroteca is they don't credit authors or illustrators or date the publishing, so I have to run around (Tarot Garden, for one) to get info on a lot of their decks).
As for my birthday, I simply listed the month and year, not the day. However, it's January 6th, Three Kings Day.
I'll have to check on that deck with the blue cow; I don't think I have a folder for it, yet

Hey, I don't think there's any better news than hearing I only have to wait until March for a shot at this complete tarot deck.
I have the Stella's majors, I love those illustrations, kind of contemporary/sweet/folksy-art style.
Baby Dream told me (whenever it was I was inquiring here about this same deck) that she might be able to score one (with time and luck) for about sixty bucks, and I had to decline. Not that I wouldn't pay sixty for a given tarot, but just not right at that time for that particular deck, when I still have a few left on the wishlist that are more available and money is still kind of tight. I thought it was a fair offer, but I have to pick and choose my decks and opportunities.
Now if all I have to do is wait til March to score a very-much-wanted 78 card deck for a mass-market price.. sweeet.

Yes, isn't it wonderful? It's from a playing card deck by Dusserre called Jeu des Armures--a French deck. I often buy French playing cards--Dusserre does such interesting subjects and you get the fun of translating the information.
Here is the bigger picture.
The card says "Large emploi du cuir se combinant avec le fer, imitation du harnais oriental dont les croisés avaient pu apprécier l'efficacité."
Yeah, it looks pretty efficacious all right!

I love the card. From the looks of the outline of the jpg, did you get the image from http://mxat.ru/WWPCM, by any chance?
I collect whole decks of playing cards from them (WWPCM who used to be rusjoker.ru) because they are so generous in displaying entire decks.
I've recently started collecting playing cards decks, too because many have pictures on all 54 cards. My most recent are Lo Scarabeo's with titled, The Middle Ages, British Royalty, Reinaissance and XIXth Century fashion.
I love costume, and dress from other ages in history.
If in fact, you did get the knight from a deck displayed at WWPCM (World Web Playing Card Museum), could you send me the link.

No, I scanned the card in from my own collection. I just got the Middle Ages and Renaissance decks by Lo Scarabeo. the art on those cards is also available in a book from Dover with several other eras covered, although the figures aren't separated in that.
The book is called Pictorial Encyclopedia of Historic Costume: 200 Full-Color Figures
ISBN: 0486461424. It's in the public domain since the art was done in the late 19th century, which is why LS and Dover both have the art.
Yes, I am quite interested in fashion and textile history too. I was just browsing at Somerville tonight for more playing cards. Incorrigible window shopper!

It means Game of Armour (or Armor is the American spelling.)
French decks are often called Jeu, I guess because you play games with cards, and the "armour" is self-explanatory since the deck deals with various era of Eurpopean armour.
It's a neat deck. The link works for me now.
I prefer to buy card decks--like to have them in hand, but I've used that site before for investigating decks.
Sommervile also has the Dusserre deck Chevaliers de la Toison D'Or Playing Cards (Knights of the Golden Fleece) Which I have my eye on. I like Knights . I am currently reconnecting to the Crusades. <g> The Henri IV deck is nice--WWPCM has scans of that as well as the Sonet-Morin patience cards by Dusserre.
I'll start a new thread as this isn't really salient to this one.

Depends really on what the Minors look like. I don't mind pip cards, though if they are too simplistic design and symbol-wise, I'll give the 78 deck a miss. Otherwise, pips or fully-illustrated ... I'll go for a 78 as well. I just love the artwork.
It was an impulse-buy driven by the fact that my debt level is so high at the moment, and thus my anxiety levels are through the roof. Y'know, one of those self-sabotaging things that we all do at times when we can least afford to self sabotage?
I'm getting better at it ... um ... not self-sabotaging ... stopping it in it's tracks before it leads me into total self-destruction. You see, I could be compulsive-eating instead ... deck buying is so much better for my physical health.

Disappointment PLUS :(! The mammoth box with the 22 card Stella's Simple tarot arrived. Box size: 220mm X 175mm, book size: 180mm X 125mm, deck size (with borders):100mm X 65mm, deck size (without borders) 80mm X 53mm ... in other words ... tiny. I need a magnifying glass to see details.
The book images are larger but the print quality is detail-hiding. Monster grrrrrrrr! I suspect that it is quite a nice deck ... but the small size spoils it. I will not buy the 78 version.

Mythos, maybe AGM will do a better job of the full deck and provide larger format and better quality pics. p.s. the pip cards are very nice and simplistic. Actually it is the Stella's Simple Tarot ... not the Swedish Witch that I am interested in. I agree though, that AGM may very well provide a larger format. The thought never crossed my mind ... dopey me!
