Wow, I just assumed the pips would be illustrated.  Otherwise why make a big deal out of them?  Oh well, live and learn,

You know, the vote was firmly for a 22 card deck, but I get the feeling it is going to end up being the 78 card deck. Well, it's not over until it's over.  Remember we have to leave something for the 2010 deck!  And no matter what we say now, we'll think something different later.

:cl  :f

Rylla, mentioning a card here is enough, your name has been added.

Is July 1 good for a completion deadline?  Or too soon?

Landscape cards are fine with me, anyone have any problems with them?  I hope no one has problem with non-English cards.  I am doing at least one card in Mayan glyphs.

July 1 sounds OK to me - NOW...... Come June 1st I may feel differently.:cl

Glyphs :ee. Please provide a translation in the - hey, what about the LWB ????? May I suggest an on line one which we can all download and print however we can manage (I say this rather diffidently, as I did manage to print the last one to almost match skad's version, but...)

I can do another lwb like I did before.  I can do it better, not do the stuff I didn't like about the other.  Now that I have the formatting it won't be too hard.  It may be too large to do the small format that I did last time.  It may end up being digital only (yeah, like the 56 minors?)  I really liked having the artists explain what they were thinking when they did the design.

I agree with Gregory on the minors thing. Everybody should do their own thing. If you want your card to be illustrated, fine, if its a pip card (with maybe extra decorations) also fine. I don't think it will really make the deck less coherent.

Btw, I am trying to come up with an idea for some minors to do next to Justice. But the ones I have ideas for are taken already:?... anyway, still thinking and still planning on doing more cards.

If I have one of them let me know ...I would be happy to swap,  or even happier to steal your ideas

July 1 is fine with me as well

oh-h-h-h- a cunning plan.... look out :?

Mine are completely completed in my head.  The problem is I know they won't work the way I have planned,  Never does. Never will.  So a card done in the head don't count.

If you want one of mine I will switch too.  My eyes were bigger than my talent.

LOL! :giWell thanks, Nicole! I will remember not to share my ideas with you:x

Btw, no need to swap.. (and I haven't even checked which cards you are doing...)

Nah, no threes involved in my ideas. Also not the Ace of Pentacles. I had some ideas for the 8 of Swords and 4 of Cups, since those cards seem to pop up in my life a lot anyway. But hey, it is a challenge to think up ideas for any of the other ones.

I recently had to think up a Knight of Swords for the Nonny Mouse deck and believe me, that was not a card that I would have chosen myself. But I am still happy with the result. So it is also a bit of a challenge to think of other cards, other then the usual ones. To think outside the 'box' I guess :bl.

Ok, I just checked and hehe... you are doing the 8 of Swords, Nicole. Which was one of the cards I had in mind. But please do keep it. I am afraid that if I were to do that one, it would just end up another RWS clone. Redrawn maybe, but still...

Skad1, also thanks for offering to swap. But I will first do my best to think of ideas for other cards.:rr

But if you DO have any ideas for us, we wouldn't mind if you share.  See my last post for reason.

Seriously it's yours ... I shall be happy to pick a different card.

I would give the 6 Swords a try... it has to be better than some kinky bondage mashup I would attempt for the 8.

Skad, would you mind changing us around?

Thanks,

Okey dokey, cats are re-arranged as requested! :cl

Also I gave up the 4 of Swords.  I bit off more than I can chew!

Thanks Nicole! I didn't really just wanted to take a card from you. But I do have several ideas for the 8 of Swords.. ok, I am unfortunally very familiar with the card in my daily life at the moment :cc:ww. Which is probably why I got the ideas.

Hmm.. about sharing ideas anyway, Skad.. I will be happy to, but I also don't have that many... :qq

Ok, list edited, and I had to look up the meaning for 8 Swords... felling alittle Bound by previous ignorance.  Fear of the Unknown ? or just Feeling Stuck, Ignorant, Blocks, Interference, Boundaries, Bad News, Difficulties, Fears and Attachment?  yikes
:gi  And don't worry about ideas, I'd love them, but I everyone has their own idea about execution of the idea, etc.

My 8 of Swords story.. I was at Watts a few years back in Mary Greer's presentation, and Mary does a deal where you write a story using the cards.. pick an ace as a theme, a few courts as characters, minors as storyline etc.. so Mary is insistent we let our imaginations run wild write anything no inner censor etc.. it will be a better exercise that way ...so I end up with the KnS who has priapism. KnP has seduced KnS wife away with flashy cash and has made her a sex slave 8S. .... I'm laughing away thinking how amusing this all is until we all ended up having to share stories.. everyone else was like romantic mush and I looked like a pervert.

Better to keep me away from that card, eh?

Nicky

Actually, I believe tarot and fun are not mutually exclusive, and I sure have seen enough tarot that's spicy, to say the least.  (this from someone who put the Flying Spaghetti Monster  on a tarot card).

The Hermit seems pretty appropriate to me now days.

Sorry if I haven't been active much. Been busy.

Anyway. I had an insomnia attack! Urgh. So since I had nothing else to do, I tried my hand at experimenting with a style I've been meaning to toy with. Kinda like the Drogi, since it's also black-to-light.

Though I must say this isn't how I originally envisioned my card for the deck. I may still change my entry art.

(PS I just added the layout so it would look more card-like.)

A heavenly Star - so different  too. There's something about the shock of the new and very original that stirs the old collecting instinct like nothing else.

I've made a start on one card, but it's too bad to show, will scrap and start again.  Looks like that Enochian deck Gregory so likes ... ;)

Hi Blue Boy

Love your card, it has so much depth to it, can't stop looking at it. Well done to you for getting so much done.

Have some good ideas for The Fool but have not put pen to paper yet as been rather distracted finishing another painting first. I have to be so disciplined with myself, otherwise I go off with the fairies doing all sorts of things, happens when you get older. Does anyone else find that?

Anyway, well done can't wait to see everyone else's work.

Have a great weekend.

Thanks guys. I'll probably change it. or maybe just put my intended effect on my other minor arcana card. I'm really looking forward to your submissions, especially Gregory's! I should have thought about getting all 4 cards of the same number! Maybe I'll do that with the third collab deck :D

I also transferred the image to the thread for finished images which Skad recently started.

I just hopped over to the card thread to see your card, BlueToy. And it is gorgeous! Wow! :ok

Oh yeah, and I am considering taking the 4 of Swords as well, since you gave that one up, Skad1. So for now, you can put my name down with that one.

Hmm.. guess I am very much into the Swords these days... Justice also has a Sword.. :cl

It would probably help card creation to know the border.  Right now I am thinking a dark border, possibly black, but probably predominately black with greys.

The card number and name would be in the border.

Any comments or dislikes?

Hi Skad1,

If the 4 of Wands is still available I would like it. Thanks. And you just brought up the border issue and that sounds great to me; black or black and grey, but now, and this may be a dumb question, but I wonder about the space we are to work within - with our Tarot imagery (3 x 4.5) - how much of that do we need to keep empty for the border or is the border outside of that 3 x 4.5 space and we should fill it completely? Sorry I haven't done a deck with your illustrious group before so not sure how that works exactly…

Well have a great weekend (yay!) and thanks! Warmly, Arnell

Hey, this may be an "Illustrious" group, but they let me in so it can't be TOO illustrious  :cl

Design the card at any size you wish, and it'll get sized down at the end.  this is better anyway, since the sizing down makes the picture clearer.  Estimating a 1/4 inch for sides and 3/8 inch for top/bottom would make the actual window for the picture 2.5 x 3.75.

You've done decks before how did you figure sizes?

4 Wands assigned to you, I'll get the 1st page updated later today.

Ehmm.. are we gonna have a border? Because the TCF deck is borderless and I kinda like it. It means you can use the full area for your image, save the little space for the border with title. Or is a border required with this printing company?

I'm piggybacking on truelighth's question. If there are going to be borders, does that mean we'll have a consistent typeface on all of the cards, and that all we need to do is submit our image(s) without the border and titles??

I have Judgement done, and will post tomorrow, hopefully.  :D

 14 Minor Arcana left,

cards due July 1

A decision has been made.  Final card size will be 3 x 4.5.  You can make them any size you want as long as they shrink to that size, so the design ratio is 1:1.5, for every inch in the horizontal, go vertical 1.5.  We will worry about printing when designs are closer to completion.

Final deposition (ie. printing) will be decided later, closer to completion.

Voting officially over, 22 card deck with no theme.

See later posts for size and other info.

So are there any cards left to be had still? Nicole sent me if that helps... :o)

I was thinking the same type of border we had before.  Small border, with numeral on top, title on bottom.  I thought it tied all the cards together very nicely, don't you?

Below is the jpg of the tcf first deck, just for reference.  But rather than the white border, a dark one.

To starlightexp, yes there are 14 minors left.  See the first page of this thread to see the list.  we'd love to have you join in!

I'm finished with the Queen of Swords but embarrassed to post it because it's quite shallow. :D But anyway, is it still possible to sign up for another card?

If no one objects, I'd like to have 8 of Wands. :)

I hope she relents this time. :) I tried bribing her earlier with my slot for the Star, but it didn't work.

Ok I'm not sure if it's 100% the correct place to ask it but :cs...

I would like to incorporate dear Pixie (the dear one really deserves it ) in one of my cards I'm creating but I was wondering how it's with the copyright on het photo's/portrait and where to find a good quality image....

Mary Greer has a good one on her website, if you search for it with google you'll be able to click the 'show full sized image' link at the top of the page and save the large size. As for copyright, I'm sure I've seen that photo on handmade boxes and in all sorts of places (apart from online), and it's perfectly possible that the photographer has been dead for long enough for the copyright to have expired. Pixie died in 1951 and looks about 20 in the photo, so it's a reasonable assumption. In any case, using part of the image to make a new work of art in a tiny edition is a fairly safe bet I'd say.

How silly of me, for some reason the TCF deck was borderless in my mind :f. Anyway, well... yes, a border and title like that would be nice again. Simple, yet elegant.:ok

With the latest additions we are down to 10 minors,  Debra better hurry up and choose one before it's too late. Well, I'll give her one of mine, but you don't have to tell her.

We also missing our forum host, Mr Adam.  And no Spuds.  But it's a wonderful turnout!

See first page of this thread for updated list, it has a updated date on it, so you can tell when I updated it last.

Edited to correct post.  I don't know how it got so messed up.
