The world.
The center of the card shows the Nebra sky disk, a bronze disk with astronomic symbols on it from c. 1600 B.C. It contains sort of the first scientific theory in human history, answering the question how the sun manages to disappear behind the western horizon and show up again at the eastern horizon. The idea is that the sun is being put on a boat (depicted at the bottom of the disk) and carried around the outer edge of the world, that was still flat at the time.
The rest of the card was meant to be drawn in the tradition of alchemical symbolism. But that didn't work too well. It ended up as a riddle made from pictograms about various other scientific attempts to make sense of what we observe about the structure of the world as a whole, or, as David Deutsch has put it, the fabric of reality.

Cool stuff again, Ly. I also liked Marcias cards a lot. Is anybody else still here instead of doing facebook only?
Well, whatever, I made a simpler version of my world card. Perferences anybody, of those still looking at TCF?

I am ONLY here, but chose not to post my cards ahead of publication; I sent them to Sherry
Given that some are here and some are there, I didn't see much point in posting them now, as they'll never be all together till they are printed .

trzes - I like the simpler one better, myself. There are some bits on the other that I don't get, and that sort of clutters it for me. If that makes sense.

That does make sense. I also have a text version of the cards with some very brief hints to the meaning of the pictograms. Does that help?
I have more detailed explanations as well, that I am planning to put on a website. A link follows as soon as I managed to put it online.
I actually think that the simplified version simply looks nicer and cleaner, although it loses most of it's message.

Well, sure it's great to see the explanations - but I fear I would want to look at them every time I drew the card.
I do agree about the cluttered look though; it takes away from your rather fine image. How about selecting SOME of the pictograms, which would make it less cluttered but still remind people that science is what makes sense of nonsense ? I was glad to see the identification of Boltzmann, though - I was vaguely aware of him, but hadn't recognised his face !

Agreed, a little less icons might do the job with my image.
Some brief notes about the remaining icons to be added to the LWB bit
- Aristotle and the relativity of up end down: spherical earth
- Galilei and the relativity of positions in space: heliocentric model
- Eiinstein and the relativity of space and time: determinism, matter is energy
- Boltzmann and the relativity of the arrow of time: anthropic bias
- Everett and the relativity of destiny: many worlds
Here is anonther attempt:

MUCH better, I think. Less like the back of an envelope doodling in a cafe, as they say (not to be rude; just - you know how it is when we are FULL of ideas and want to get them ALL out there !) Now each one looks important enough to LOOK at.

You must have been looking straight into my heart
The back of the envelope full of ideas has now got its own web page ( http://reality.spiorad.net/iconsummary.htm ) and the card stays clear. Image and LWB text will soon go to skad1.

trezs, I like them both, but agree the first has alittle tooo much on it. I think it's the sky disk I like seeing on a card.
Updated list on first post. There is a little over a month to go, and there are only 13 cards completed. The cards are not considered complete until the high resolution version is sent to me.

The Devil
The journey of Seven offered by the Devil’s travel agency
I’ll give you a wand promised Pan, use it to succumb to the seven deadly sins or to learn the seven liberal arts. Drink from my cup and you will sail the seven seas to see the seven wonders of the ancient world. I’ll give you a sword to cut the seven pure notes from the seven colors of the rainbow, on seven continents collect the seven planetary metals, forge them into seven pentacles and use them to buy all of the world or use them to buy back your soul…

First card ready:
The Hierophant
This card is in memory of Chris Asselin. He used the image of a mother with her children for the Hierophant in the Patchwork Tarot. I have always found this a powerful image, as our mothers are the first and most important teachers in our lives. So I have adopted his original image and made it into a black&white drawing.Attached Image (viewed 139 times):

Hi Gregory,
Yes, they are totally new. The minors were not illustrated in the Pippa Tarot. They were pip cards. These are illustrated minors, just like I did last year.
I have been making the photographs this last week and edited them yesterday and today.
Also, there are actually some new dolls in there .Last edited on Sun Jul 9th, 2017 05:44 pm by truelighth

That is ok. And you haven't seen them before. But some elements you have, like the church arch on the 3 of pentacles. I have used that before. But then slightly different.
And the Fool is making an appearance again in the 3 of pentacles, same doll and outfit from the original card.Last edited on Sun Jul 9th, 2017 07:27 pm by truelighth

Latest update, two weeks, still many missing. I usually seem to always extend the deadline, which isn't fait to the people who got their cards in, but oh well. So deadline extended to August 31 st. Â
If you don't feel you can make that deadline, or are no longer interested in participating, let me know so I can get someone else to work on your cards.

Hi folks. Sorry I've become a bit of a stranger here, but I just wanted to say I've finished my card for this year's deck
However, I've only got a phone to do the digitizing these days, and if you can believe it, my fancy pants new phone cannot produce a file small enough to upload here!!!
It is up on the FB page though (Sorry Gregory, although I note you choose not to share your card here)
Toodle ooo

I did indeed. Don't worry :) I don't really see the point when we aren't all sharing in the same place - may as well keep it all a surprise !

Yeah but that means there's not that much point trying to see the whole - or even most of the deck before it's done, so it may as well be be more of a surprise.

No changes to main listing, so I created on with just the missing cards. Remember that you're not done until you send the final high resolution to me. Plus the card info and your bio.
I haven't heard anything from Eric Brookens. How long should I wait? He was going to do the Knight of WandsLast edited on Sat Aug 26th, 2017 11:04 pm by skad1

I'd reassign the lot if I were you. I would have done earlier. Unless ANYONE there is in the path of Irma - but that's no excuse really - the deadline was ages ago.
