A great deal has happened with my work over the last few months. Perhaps the main development is that I have purchased a shop only 200 yards from my home which I am now converting into an art gallery. This will enable me to give some exposure to emblematic material, such as in alchemy and tarot, and to some extent embed this within the world of fine art.

The first exhibition is entitled 'Astronomy in pictures' :-
Humanity has, from the earliest times, looked at the stars and planets and puzzled over their movements across the heavens. In European culture from the 15th century onwards, artists have tried to illustrate the mysteries of astronomy, astrology and cosmology, using woodcuts and engravings in many hundreds of books. Adam McLean has coloured a selection of over
one hundred of these emblems to provide a survey of how our ancestors depicted astronomers, their astronomical instruments, the zodiac and astrology as well as the different theories of how the universe came into being.
By researching this material and sensitively colouring these images, McLean has breathed new life into these neglected woodcuts and engravings.

You can see details on

http://www.weekendgallery.co.uk

I intend to have occasional exhibitions of tarot art, especially using the larger images, as it is very difficult to display small cards. I have plenty of material for this purpose.

The Astronomy poster is stunning. So much detail, it deserves to be stared at for a very long time.

Congratulations on the gallery! I hope it's a huge success.

I am planning a Tarot exhibition for later this year using large art tarots, rather than small cards which are difficult to display. Immediately coming to mind are

The Taylor McCall
Gruyere poster
Association IAIA proof page
Dali deck as poster
Jacquot
Crisse portfolio
Tarocchi Genovesi
Non-Etre Supreme
Clizia
Gambedotti
Rene Marcel Riviere large prints
and many others I have in my collection.

It sounds like this could need more than one exhibition !
