On one of my explorations on etsy I found an interesting large sized B&W deck from Australia, created by Jahne Hope-Williams, a woman with many interests and talents it seems among other tarot and yoga disciplines she combines in this deck apparently. The whole comes packed in a nice lidded box with an organdy bag and a LWB.

Oh, that's cool. It looks almost like it was etched on black film.
I popped over to get one (of course) and she says "I have produced the cards, black and white reverse negative using the medium "scratchboard"

I went to the website, but the shop wasn't working. So I mailed. Or is there another way to order one of these beauty's?

Ok, I panicked. Her EBay listing said there was one left, so I chewed my fingernails for a minute then bought it. Anyone know how many of these were produced?

Got it today. I have to agree with gregory, the laminating isn't what I was expecting. It's got 1/4" borders all around the cards of the clear laminating sheet. Shame they didn't have Adam produce the deck, although the cards are larger than normal.
I did have a bit of trouble with the ordering process and in my communications with them, they did mention a 78-card version is in the works. Jahne is designing the minors now, apparently. Just thought some of you might like to know.

I suspect these were done with black pen on white paper, and the image reversed in photoshop.
The "light source" in paintings and drawings is conventionally (ie, often) upper-right and slightly forward of the image, with shadows therefore falling on the left. In this, the light source seems to be upper right (sun, for example) but the "shadow" on the left is white, rather than dark.

Honestly, for what they turned out to be like, I think they're overpriced. The images are interesting, and although it's hard to tell for sure with the paper sandwiched between the lamination sheets, they almost look like they're just photocopied. The blacks are not real solid. I can try to upload photos later when I get home, I don't have them with me. Also, the cards have a warp to them, they don't lie really flat.

Here are a couple photos of what I talked about earlier. I'm wondering now if the quality of the black is due to issues with the lamination? Maybe it just didn't make good solid contact with the paper?

It's sad whatever the issue is -
An almost - takes away so much from what looks like an amazing piece of art!

I still like the artwork, but as I said for the quality of the cards I do think they are overpriced. But that's me. If you feel like they're worth it, please don't let me stop you from acquiring them. :)
I'll still be very interested in seeing the full 78-card deck when it's available, too.

I have found that when laminating larger pieces, you have to put the lamination thru the machine twice. The second time upside down. That conteracts the curling you see. Maybe with large industrial sized laminators it doesn't work that way, but with smaller commerical ones it does.

She said she used scraperboard – and that does come out like that; you scratch away the black to revel the white behind, rather than drawing in black on white.
I wish I could convince myself mine weren’t laminated….

A little upset with my purchase.
The packaging was a joke - just put into a bubble envelope.
The box the cards come in was a little crushed on the corners.
I sent the seller a message 3 days ago & no reply???
I guess I'll wait another 2 days & then complain in a different manner.

I think they're away a lot. When I placed my order (either a Thurs. or a Fri.) they said they were going to be away until the following Tuesday but would mail it when they returned. Then there was a problem with the payment, somehow they didn't get it, but were able to 'cancel' the PayPal transaction, so I had to resend the payment. In all fairness, I haven't been around ebay and PayPal long enough to know how often that sort of thing happens, it may be fairly common?
Apart from issues with the packaging, how are the cards? Is the copy you got laminated the way mine is?

The cards are laminated just like yours.
I really like the art work - it is really a very interesting tarot deck.
Seems a shame they didn't go the extra step to make it a nice deck.
Not a cheap set of cards & for the price it would of been better if they had
made them like most other tarot decks.
I like it very much & am not unhappy with my purchase,
just wish they had boxed it instead of shipping it in an envelope.
I'm hoping they can ship me another box???
