yes, you are right. i have professional art/design training, where we critique, critique, critique each others work with the intention to bring it to the highest level of expression.
my own deck? honestly, i lack the imagination. i am not nearly as imaginative and creative as most of the card makers in this forum.
and sometimes i get an image in my head, but i lack the technical skills to draw or paint what i see in my head. very frustrating! so i am always researching art technique.
if you, nicky or anyone else would ever like to describe their card making process, approach, materials,i would welcome the info.

Mine involves thinking what I want to get across and then doing photocollage from my own photos (as a rule; this time I had to make an exception to get a night sky !) with Photoshop and/or Paintshop Pro. OR I go out and take additional photos (like this time I had to find some MONEY !) So - materials - digital camera and computer !
I have also done computer collage with royalty free images from a book I happen to own, and some CDs I bought of royalty free images. But my own photos are more fun. :)
Oh - I have also been involved with a collaborative where we drew cards on actual blanks with sharpies.....
Nicky - the last I heard - did amazing things using only a web browser to edit. I never did work out how. And I am a bit of a geek that way....

I'm getting really muddled between the Card Posting thread and the Sign-up thread, as there are lists and cards on both but only one has been updated recently.
I've been trying to work out how many people are doing cards and who (if anyone) has dropped out, but come to a different answer every time...

I think she posted that there to see if it was fit to use as a sign-up, sort of. In other words - possibly not a done card so not fit for here.
Skad posted a chart with where we are in the first post of the other thread. She does update it.
Though I see she still has you on Hanged Man from the other day.

Wonderful works so far guys! Here's my own work-in-progress. Got it scanned just today. Will do some cleaning up and maybe flat colours, but, well, here she is so far. It's the Death card. She's Mebuyan, a Philippine death goddess. She's supposed to have breasts or at least nipples all over her skin (dead babies suckle on them), so I'll add that with the colouring. She's sitting on a mortar that spins slowly to the earth, and that big log beside her's the pestle (women used to pound rice with these huge things).

I've to agree. Knowing how near you are to the deadline puts your creativity on overdrive. That's wonderful Truelight. The colours are just right - not too strong or anything. Plus I appreciate the subtle rays detail you put. :)

Great cards everyone!
Love the natural leafy feel of Truelighth's pentacle hanging among the leaves.
And Ly's goddess is gorgeous, nipples and all. And amazingly I do like the signature - mostly I don't and feel they're intrusive, but this one is more of a monogram (like Pam's).

It's rice grains. And you actually noticed it! I think she throws them to the ground when she wants people to die/thinks it's time for them to die - though I'll have to check my resources first if this is indeed true.

Yes. I saw them as drops of milk...rice makes more sense in a mythology-of-death kind of way. It is beautifully done and compelling to look at --what a complex and disturbing death.

Yes.  I wanted to go to India from when I was three years old and saw a photo of the Taj Mahal.
I went - and to Nepal - and it was everything I had ever thought it would be - which is so often not what happens !
I did take a LOT of photos !

You wanted to visit India from age of 3??
thats too early...that age a child just thinks about milk, cerelac etc.
But why did u just visit nepal...why not beautiful palaces of Rajasthan, or lovely wildlife/forest of kerala or beaches of Goa. They are much better then Nepal.

No - I went to INDIA - and Nepal afterwards. I did go to Rajasthan (Jaipur, in particular) - not to Goa - there is only so much you can do when you get 2 1/2 weeks off work ! I was in the "Golden Triangle" - Khajuraho was a highlight; and Varanasi, Fatehpur Sikri, Bhaktapur - do you feel better yet ??
It was also a guided trip - I am glad of that; I think if I had landed in Delhi alone, I would have spent the whole time in the airport wondering where to start ! NEXT TIME I will know !
We had many students from all over the world in the house when I was little. I got to talk to many of them - and I also looked at books. I could read by the time I was four...

 feeling much better now.thats a wonderful tour even i have not been to khajuraho or varanasi.
next time you should try out kerala...lot of historical stuff there in kerala
its amazing you could read by four....i think i was busy with my bottles and nappies at that age
