Thank you for having me! Iβve been a collector for 12 years. I have a small problem with collecting decks, thankfully curbed by limited funding. π Thankfully, Iβm also pretty particular about the decks I keep, which makes me more discriminating about those I do buy. I almost exclusively purchase decks that I will use, with some exceptions. I enjoy using tarot as a secular tool and for purely aesthetic purposes. I recently inherited 3 vintage decks from an elderly male relative that I was close to before he passed. The tragedy is that he never felt comfortable enough to so much as admit knowing anything about tarot. The decks are clearly well-worn. π I have 7 or 8 and possibly more decks to trade or sell right now. I look forward to learning more about tarot decks and their care, meeting like-minded peeps and seeing whatβs out there. :) |

Hello, Welcome to the forum! When it comes to tarot collecting, I have found that being "particular" is the first line of defense against bankruptcy. If you are interested in the physical care of tarot decks, I am hoping to create some posts in the not-too-distant future about some of the restoration techniques I have used to resolve issues such as foxing, stains, musty odors, and so on. For now, I would say that one of the best things that any tarot collector can do is to invest in a good dehumidifier to consistently keep the card environment at 40% relative humidity. This will help prevent issues such as foxing, mildew, and musty odors, especially on older, uncoated cards and book paper. Last edited on Sun Aug 29th, 2021 11:09 pm by Marcus |
