I saw the deck at taroteca and fell in love but found out it wasn't available anywhere, even eBay. So I did some detective work and found out that a company in Sweden by name of Fischer was selling the book that goes with the deck. I wrote and asked about the deck itself and got an email back saying this:

From: Kajsa Willén < kajsa@lindco.se>
Date: 14 Dec 2007 02:20
Subject: SV: Where might I purchase the Jolanda den Tredges, Swedish Witch Tarot deck, you publish?

We have not got the rights to sell this deck in the US. However, it will soon be made available in an English version made by AG Muller.

If you want more information regarding this, please email Rosie Bjorkman at

rosakraxa@hotmail.com

Regards,

Fischer & Co

The next step is to write to AG Mueller and find out when Swedish Witch is coming out by them.

Wheeeeeee

WOW. It is an EXCELLENT deck. And nice to see AGM are putting out something of quality (the Angels they just brought out is almost as bad as that Power Animal one.... indeed, I know someone who thinks it's worse )

I've just written my contact at A.G. Müller, Silvia, who wrote me about Stella's Simple bieng published there in March,, 2008, and asked her if she knows when The Swedish Witch Tarot will be available. I'll be sure and let anyone interested about this deck, know what I find out.

I wrote to Rosie Bjorkman, too. Some useful info should be forthcoming.

I'm told that A.G. Mueller is going to, is in the process of publishing Swedish Witch and I sent off an email to AGM to ask a contact there if that's true. As soon as I get word back I'll post the info.

you could get someone to buy it for you in the eu and send it to you, then just pay them via paypal. someone in deviantart was kind enough to offer me this scenario though i have no idea how i'd send the money to her. having it with the original swedish text somehow makes it seem more appealing to me (in that cultural way) of course, this would also mean staring into a whole unintelligible bunch of characters when attempting to read the book.

Thank you, Blue Toy, about the idea of having someone in Europe buy Swedish Witch and then pay them through Paypal.
I'm still going to hold out for the AGMueller edition. This will probably make it buyable through Amazon or Tarot Garden and these places are set up with reasonable shipping charges since the deck will already be in the US and shipping not air mail from Europe, say.
Who at deviantart were you using, anyway? Do people on Deviantart solicit themselves for this kind of service or is it someone you know personally?

Thanks again.

p.s. it's already 4 days since I emailed AGM, I may think about following up about an answer. Then again, it's the holidays, so maybe I'll wait a little longer.

oh no, actually it was me who asked around for people who can do this for me since i really like the deck. though now i'd prefer the wait too, as it would probably cost me twice to have it bought in the EU than when it's bought from a bookstore in the US.

What great news! I adore the Swedish Witch :) I have a 1st edition copy I got for $35 a few months ago....a great find! I will for sure pick up an AGM reprint in English. I'm looking froward to hearing more on it. Any word if the book would be translated as well? I found the deck is very Thoth-based.

I just got the Drogi a week ago from Tarot Garden....I was waiting forever for them to get it back in stock. They still have some....$70. It's a stunning and very spiritual deck, I'm really loving it!

thanks, Adam. I went and checked it out at eBay. The starting bid is $34 which, considering it still would need shipping to US, and thats just starting bid, is likely to make this deck a little step for my budget. But thank you for the heads up. Im going to hold out for March and AGM and there will probably be sources here in the states that can ship relatively locally.
Thanks again for the info though. And while Im on the subject if you know of any copies of the William Blake Tarot of the Imagination that are available in the neighborhood of $30, would be nice. Ive looked around and so far the cheapest out there using google shopping search is $50, which probably isnt bad but more than I want to spend, too. Maybe I should contact USGames and see if theyre going to do a reprint of this deck beings its so popular (I've read).
Do you have favorite decks from among your huge collection?

Im a fan of the Pomo deck and managed to find a second copy of the deck a few years ago, which is probably a good buy since Brians untimely death in 2002.

I'm pretty sure the creator Burns still has copies/sets he's selling for either $39 or $49. He certainly was a few months ago. I got my copy from him. I really doubt you'll find a $30 copy.

I doubt USG would print this deck, I can't recall who was the original publisher.

The Swedish Witch was recently reissued in English by AGM/Urania. It is fairly easily available - one reliable source is tarotchest.co.uk.

Interestingly the cards are a different, more standard SHAPE - and manage to show MORE of the images than the originals did.

TG doesn't even have the new English version in stock yet, how can they be sold out?? I only see a listing for the 1st edition on TG's site.

I ordered the new AGM English version tonight from Tarot Chest as well! I have the 1st edition, but very excited to get the titles in English and see the new printing. It says now there is 1 left in stock.

I'm wondering if the colours will be more vibrant?? Size different?

I just adore my Swedish Witch to pieces so I'm so happy to be getting this new version. Though I do think the Swedish language titles in my original lend it a very mystical and mysterious occult ambience

I also ordered the Magic Manga from TarotChest last week, and it arrived today.....I love it!!

The colours are a good deal more vibrant; the borders are noticeably purple, and the proportions are different - which has - strangely - meant that we can see fractionally MORE of the images widthwise than in the original. This surprised me; I'd been afraid the narrower cards AGM uses would mean they were cut off - but it is quite the contrary. (The new printing is in AGM's standard size and shape.)

Well, my new Jolanda arrived in the mail today, so you can't say Tarot Chest isn't prompt to ship or UK air mail to the US isn't cheap.
I am a bit disappointed, though. I knew I wouldn't like the purple borders but I didn't realize the deck would be so crudely recolored from the original. Much of the charm of the Jolanda den Tredjes was its muted coloring and unassuming size. This deck is larger (mostly or maybe entirely from the fat borders), the keywords are gone and the coloring tends toward the garish. Maybe I'll get used to it in time. Those unfamiliar with the original may like it just fine.

My new copy arrived today!

I am neyond pleased with this reprint, it's stunning! I took out my 1st edition and compared each card side by side. Awesome that on so many cards you can see so much more! It really makes the image in so many cases. The images themselves appear larger and more complete.

Now as far as the colours, I LOVE them!!!! Comparing them side by side was a real eye-opener. Frankly the 1st edition looks like a bad print job when seen next to the new AGM print. I always thought so many of the colours were weak and very washed out looking. The detail on each card was hazy and indistinct.

It's completely amazing how the new decks colours just pop and burst with energy and life. The art is all deftly outlined in a deepened black, and I can see ALL the details! I love it. Every colour is deeper and richer, the skies more nuanced and breathtaking. I tell you, on seeing so many of the cards side by side I was taken aback how wishy-washy, blah and weak the old version looked. The colours to me don't look garish or harsh, they're vibrant and jewel toned. Very lush! The new printing looks like what the artist actually intended and drew it as. I've seen his work online and in books and it's all that gorgeous deep and rich colouring.

And the topper though is the extra images we get to see, so much of the 1st was chopped off and cut up, what a shame. The only thing I don't like is the backs, I wish they'd kept it borderless!

I think I am actually going to be drawn to use these more in readings, the new colours give it so much life, movement and beauty.
