On 21st November 2006 Adam wrote in his tarot weblog about an unknown Black and White deck he received in the mail, without any information about it anywhere to be found (he tried also on AT if there was someone who knew it but nothing)
Now almost 2 years later the Faiths or dame Fortune (or more correctly but less poetic eBay) has brought the same deck into my possession. I wrote Adam but also there no information about it.
The only thing we know now is that there are at least 2 in existence but besides that...

That looks really great. Especially that judgment card. Actually all of them look great. What did the advertisment on Ebay call the deck?

Are there 22 cards or 78? The titles are in Spanish and it has numeric correspondences for the Hebrew letters which seems to put it in the Spanish school of Tarots. If it has minors, check to see if the Swords correspond to to Water, if so it is definitely Spanish.
I looked through Kaplan, Volumes 3 & 4, which seemed to me the most likely place to find it, but with no luck. You could get out a magnifying glass and go through it bit by bit and see if there are any hidden clues.

I think this Tarot Collectors Forum is named incorrectly... it should be the Tarot Coveting Forum... I see then I covet (am I a deadly sinner?)

It's a majors only deck - the amiges follow classical tarot images in a style that I could describe as doodle-isch
No box or anything that could give any clues about it (they came wrapped in a off-white paper)
Seller had no info about it
Numbering is also a bit strange namely:
- Loco - 0
- Prestidigitador - 1
- Sacerdotisa - 2
- Emperatriz - 3
- Emperador - 4
- Pontifice - 5
- Enamorados - 6
- Carro - 7
- Justicia - 8
- l'Eremita - 9
- Rueda Fortuna - 10
- Fuerza - 20
- Ahorcado - 30
- Muete - 40
- Templanza - 50
- Diablo - 60
- Torre - 70
- Estrella - 80
- Luna - 90
- Sol - 100
- Juicio - 200
- Mondo - 400

The numbers represent Hebrew letters.

And it's mine... yippie!
I am glad I can add this one to my collection, especially because I love the black and white decks. Ok, I am sure I paid more then you or Adam did, but oh well...
Now if only we could find out more about it.

Oops... so it was you who I outbid. It was just too good to resist.

Uh oh, now I find out who it all was that I outbid... ouchie... I guess that is what happens if all of us collectors are on the same forum
Just out of curiousity and because Ebay won't show it anymore, who was the second runner up bidder?

I bid on it too, but I am always happy when a deck goes to one of us. Then there is the panic I would have felt if I had won because the cost would have had to come out of my 'I-need-a-new-carburettor' account. So, not just happy for you truelighth, but relieved as well ... though I do want one ... eventually.

A lady from Spain contacted me and said that this tarot was issued as a free gift with a Spanish popular esoteric magazine, possibly Mas Alla or Año Cero. It dates back to the early 1990s.
I tried to find a reference to it within a back issue of these magazines but with no success so far.Last edited on Thu Aug 1st, 2013 01:54 pm by AdamMcLean

I have a copy as well. I just listed it in my collection as "Unknown Spanish Tarot".

Mr. LaLuna et al, this is a very beautiful deck. Congratulations to those who own it. The BWs are a special category. I particularly like the Death card.
