Herein madness lies, but for some inexplicable reason I'm tempted by the black-bordered Chinese version of Pam's designs and need de-enabling - they're incredibly cheap but might get me started again.
So... I'm wondering if anyone here has succumbed and can provide more info. Are they horrible between the fingers? Do the colours rub off and cause the eyes to bleed? Does a strange and odious miasma escape to swirl around the head when one opens the box/packet, whatever? Help...!

The seller states in the listing that the coIours may not be exactly as in the pics due to differences in monitor displays, but it looks to me as if they could be reflections from coloured lights rather than an integral part pf the cards themselves. Notice how colour seems to be reflected from parts of what looks like the gold? panels/markings underneath the images as well as that strange green - is it a flare? - on the box. This is what I like about about the pics of the cards - not so much the backs or the lettering etc. So if the images are just a straight Pamela reprint/rip off without the weird colours I wouldn't be tempted. I rather hoped someone here might have one and could let me know.
Anyway, I sent the seller a question but got an automatic reply saying they were away for the weekend but would reply on Monday. Will post when I get a reply...

A new listing for the same tarot with different photographs seems to answer my question - just straight RWS images with no psychedelic colouring...

Disappointed but de-enabled.

I like the pics in the second link better but personally I wouldn't buy from either seller. They have a lot of positive feedback but also a relatively high number of negatives. I get a bad feeling and usually in that case I steer clear. It might just be me though, they could be fine.

Hi Abrac, I'm quite glad to be deterred - I don't like the word 'Tarot' on the backs or the Chinese characters on the fronts but I really liked those crazy splashes of colour...
Edited to add that there are a few listings for this tarot that charge a bit more, and state the location as UK, but when one looks at the seller's profile one finds they are based in China.Last edited on Mon May 21st, 2018 05:58 pm by goldenweb

It was all over Facebook. It's not, like, 3D, but it attempts it. It is interesting from a collector's viewpoint, I suppose.

Thanks Reece, I can't call myself a collector as I only used to buy decks for the artwork and haven't bought anything for ages, but this one seemed to zing out at me. I don't belong to Facebook but perhaps I'll google 'holographic tarot' and see what comes up.

It's getting to the point I'm about to get rid of all the cards groups I'm in. The stupidity is astounding.
And it really is for people in real life for me, anyway to keep up locally.

Do stay with T.C. though Reece...
The Chinese Pixie Tarot (my name for it) arrived this morning. The cards came out of the inner cellophane shrink wrap in a total muddle, almost as if they'd all shot out of the cutting machine and had to be gathered up from the floor. The Queen of Pentacles had been creased across one corner and straightened out again, but at less than £5 including postage from China I'm not complaining...
The little blackish book is in Chinese.
They have soft matte backs and very shiny laminate on the front that seems to be prismatic and at certain angles bounces rainbows and splashes of bright colour back, but if the light isn't at the right angle the light areas of the image look flat and metallic - rather as if they'd been printed on silver foil.
Size is 6cm x 11cm. IMO they shouldn't be described as holographic but prismatic. They're very very slippery - after sorting them out to make sure all were present and correct I ended up mixing them up in a pile on the table as they have a tendency to slip and fly from fingers that are less than expert at shuffling. I don't normally do reversals, but I cut for three cards and got... well it was accurate anyway... :)
Edited to add that some of the card backs are paler than others.Last edited on Thu Jun 21st, 2018 04:56 pm by goldenweb
