I saw an old rerun of the Andy Griffith Show yesterday, and Barney bought a used fortune telling kit at an auction and was trying it out. It came with a deck of cards that looked like a tarot deck based on the thickness. They never did show the faces. Two cards were mentioned, a "flaming torch" and a "unicorn." It had tartan backs. What deck during that time period had those backs and cards? I can't think of any.

Thanks for all that nicole.
According to Wikipedia it originally aired Dec. 21, 1964.

Hey Debra. Good possibility. That's kinda what I was thinking but I wasn't sure if there might have been some deck with a flaming torch and unicorn. They could've just made up that bit for TV. Sounds more arcane than a "club" or a "horse."

Like this. The Devil. Move away from the screen a few feet (or take off your glasses LOL) and squint.

Thanks Debra. I see what you're saying. It's hard to say for sure, but it could definitely be possible. I don't think it can be ruled out at least.

That is definitely an ijj Devil.
Here are two versions of Debra's image distorted to be a bit closer.
I could match it exactly if I tried, but I don't see the need...

There's a visual parallel between the Devil and Barney's posture at 7:02 in the first part. Those Mayberry folks were more sophisticated than they let on.
I can't figure out how to get a screenshot.
And Barney's reading a book entitled "Psyhic Phenomena" yep spelled just that way.
