I had every intention of barrelling along doing a card per week at least, but I found it was too little time to be reflective. It takes time to find an art reference to sketch or in one case, for me to press leaves and birch bark for the art that I'm doing on the page.
There is calligraphy--I am using a modern interpretation called Pen Script Bold (capitals and miniscules.) From the book "The Calligrapher's Bible" by David Harris. He says it's good for beginners to calligraphy, which I am. I've copied a sheet and put it under plastic to carry around to do inking--flip it over to do capitals.
I refer to it my interpretation as "wonky" calligraphy as I tend to slant it every way. Still good practice, another reason for the journal. Not asking questions, just doing intuitive interpretation, maybe you could call it that? Just my own little world.
I have a couple more pictures on my web site under (Books/Journals), and if you get the ATA newsletter in print form, I had an article in there recently about this journal.

Oh, and back to avatars, I changed mine in my current fervour for all things Templar.
My wish for figurines to go with decks seems to have rocketed in price. (I blame Papageno and his Dr. Strange figurine myself.)
This is a hand painted metal soldier in conventional 54 mm (2.25 inch) size. $50 USD for the metal base and at least $90 and up to get someone to paint it--but the guys who paint these are real artists--this one is breathtaking.
Just in case anyone NEEDS one to go with the Grail Tarot. VBG

I don't believe that's my page you are referring to. Maybe Papageno's? He's got a fab-o series of photographs of decks and related stuff at Photobucket I think it is.
But in any case, whatever page it was, it got you to buy the Dante!
That's a good one. Now I do have a snap of that with some of my Dante books on my web site. It's a sentimental favourite of mine.

will clarify.....went on an internet tour last nite....
first i viewed quidlimit's home gallery page, showing some wonderful creations along with her dante spread, laid out in front of books relating to dante (dore engravings, etc)....
back to TCF...i looked at collector's figurines, and the marvel comics deck... inspired, i did a search for the marvel comics tarot....that lead me to the marvel web site
....next i went to alida store....the dante was $$$
in the beginning, i started collecting only art decks that were painterly and well designed and well colored...my collection and appreciation has grown and expanded with input from collectors like yourselves, who share information about your collections....
decks have been the ACE... the beginning energy which has stimulated further exploration of topics, such as the writings of dante, the victorian period, gothic tales, mythology, the mock heroic poem, THE RAPE OF THE LOCK, by alexander pope, the purchase of alchemical prints (from adam), etc...

...by the way if anyone is interested in looking at the RAPE OF THE LOCK, the first canto contains many references to a card game, which i thought was tarot... the poem refers to PAGES, DEATH, CHARIOT....but actually the game is called OMBRE.... there are further links formore info about this card game. There are many beautiful and poetic descriptions and symbols of the four elements in the RAPE OF THE LOCK.

[Nodding, nodding.] The Ace, I like the way you phrased that.
I see another go 'round on having too many decks over at AT. We've all traded decks at one time or another, so that is meaningless as a benchmark for seriousness or scholarly dedication, and the insistence that people have little intellect, depth, or reading ability because they collect decks is misinformation at best and ignorance at worst.
I'm not quite sure why some cannot parse this connection to exploration and its concomitant vitality. If I had the money, I'd take all of Adam's courses on Tarot Art and History; not because it will make me a better reader, but because it will make me a better human.
However, I am quite excited to see you have bought the Dante! The art on that is exquisite.
And thank you for your comments on my web site--my reconnection to art and creativity is a direct result of tarot cards.

A general forum with generalized information.
Many people enjoy it, but I find it lacking in genuine interest and effort in study, originality, and depth of discussion.
It's good for beginners until you find your own path. After that you'll need to look elsewhere for challenges, and learning.
[Edited: forgot to say that it's good for trading decks--I've met several nice people that way.]

Aeclectic Tarot--I'm there -- same name -- as are quite a few others here. It's a complex site, been around quite a while, with many sections -- as with any library, you may have to search to find what you're looking for and perhaps you won't, but I recommend it highly.

tarot collecting has stimulated me to explore new techniques and materials and i am bringing forth new and different kinds of art...so if. the tarot is the ACE, the finished art work is the TEN....with all the cards inbetween, being the artistic process itself....

i look at ACELECTIC TAROT....probably other members do also... when you go there, click on COMMUNITY...i read a tarot review there, or i follow a thread or a conversation about a deck, and i become curious about the deck....and so the collecting continues...and my collection expands

In real life I am incredibly judgmental so this is an appropriate avatar all year 'round (well, maybe Justice is better....)

My current avatar isn't from a deck, but from a piece of mail art I did, in a style they call "zetti"(or zettiology!)
I am involved in making a collaborative deck with a bunch of wacky artists, who are doing it in this style.
But...I bet you can guess who it depicts!
