The TAROT OF THE NEW MOON is an artwork painted by italian artist MARIA TERESA MONTI (Loiano 1957 - Bologna 1991).
The 78 illustrations was realized between 1981 and 1983 by Maria Teresa Monti (known to her friends as “Terry”) and was inspired by the Tarot de Marseille.
In those years, the Tarot historian GIORDANO BERTI collaborated with Terry, providing indications on symbolism and imposing the title.
The deck was displayed in various exhibitions between 1985 and 1990, including the great Tarot exhibit at the Estense Castle in Ferrara in 1987 (organized by Giordano Berti and Andrea Vitali).
A page dedicate to the Tarot of the New Moon appears in the third volume of Kaplan’s ENCYCLOPEDIA OF TAROT (1990).
After the death of the Artist, the deck remained in the house of the Monti family until 2007, when it was loaned to the MUSEO DEI TAROCCHI a RIOLA (near Bologna - Italy), where it is still exposed.
In 2008 the Museum made this limited edition of 300 NUMBERED COPIES but with a simple black box.
In 2014 Giordano Berti decided to give the deck a new package, coherent with Terry’s artwork.
The gorgeous box was created by the Italian art designer Letizia Rivetti and has been handcrafted in Italy by “RINASCIMENTO: Italian Style Art”.
ONLY 88 NUMBERED COPIES OF THIS SPECIAL PACKAGE has been realized. So, it is an authentic rarity.
Of course, EACH DECK HAS THE ORIGINAL WARRANT of the Museo dei Tarocchi, with the progressive number handwritten.
Inside the box there's the EXTRA WARRANT of RINASCIMENTO that explain:
“ Box handmade in only 88 copies, exclusively for the Tarot of the new Moon. This copy has the number ..../ 88 "
The box also contains a fold (in Italian and English) with a synthetic presentation of the deck and a brief biography of Maria Teresa Monti.

If I didn't have the original one they put out (and Terry's prototype deck !) - I would buy this in a heartbeat - but I cannot justify it for just the box, beautiful though it is. But the deck is gorgeous. Well done you for honouring it like this.

Many people prefer the Tarot without a particular box.
Others prefer a box fine.
Since the Tarot of the New Moon are reserved to few admirers, being printed in only 300 copies, I thought was nice give to some collectors the opportunity to keep this special in a really special box: a true work of art, instead of the sad and poor black box.
The box art was produced by an Italian craftsman in only 88 copies.
Therefore, it is an object very rare whose value will increase over time, together with the cards that the box contains.Attached Image (viewed 44 times):
