I do readings and collect for art work. However, the art work must carry some discernible imagery related to classic and traditional tarot imagery to catch and hold my interest enough to buy it. Many 'collector' tarot decks are simply an avenue for an artist to promote their work and the work does not genuinely relate to true tarot symbolism. The symbolism is important for accurate divination as well as ritual practice. Most of these collector decks are merely art card packs in my opinion.

I collect for the artwork and the symbolism. I also do read tarot, but I have to admit that I only use the Rider Waite for that. All the other decks do give me more insights though. But art is very important too.

I collect most of my decks to read with at some point. I absolutely love being able to get that surge of interest in a deck for studying or reading and know I have it and just have to dig in my collection : )

I also have quite a few decks I have bought tho just for the artwork. I love both aspects quite dearly! If I had more cash I would for sure buy oodles just for the art and the viewing pleasures.

That is perhaps why I have a fairly small amount in my collection (320 decks) than many others here......limited funds and their readability for me is pretty important!

My newest aquisition (last night!) was the Anna K Tarot and this deck for me has both qualities in spades! Evocative, expressive art and the images speak to me so clearly right out of the box.

I also got the OOp Original Hallowquest (Arthurian) deck, the Hallowquest yearlong Tarot Course book (pretty expensive on the 2nd hand market as it's OOP, usually goes for around $50-70), the smaller red book that came with the original deck I believe and Virtue's Fairy deck....ALL for only .....drumroll.....18.50 on Ebay! Pretty happy about that! lol I've been really wanting the 1st edition Hallowquest and that thick yearlong Tarot Course for a long time.....I am dying to do an intensive study with the deck, but it was always just way too expensive to buy a used book for $60!
