Hey everyone

I am on the lookout for Pam decks. We have a small tarot foundation created for educational use. We have serious students all over the world. I am on the look out at the moment for a Pam C or D to be able to show to students and educate them on the intricacies of these versions. If you have one you would not mind selling to a good home, where it will be used exclusively for education, research, and preservation of history please email me, PM me, or post here. Also, should you happen across a Pam A or B that you would consider donating to the cause (for a price you consider reasonable of course) it would be well treated, used to help future generations understand history, printing techniques, and the art and history of the modern tarot.

Also looking for old PKtT's to show to students. Again, we respect your time and investment - if you are ready to give them the best possible home for the future your price will be met without haggling. This is for posterity.

This is a serious global research project and we would be more than happy to include you in the history books should you like inclusion. Happy to answer any questions. Thank you for reading this.

Dusty White

I cannot help but be a bit cynical about this wish to
collect multiple copies of this early deck.

These are very collectable and a very good investment.

I would hesitate about selling these to a 'small tarot foundation
created for educational use'. Is this established as a non profit
making body with a proper boards of trustees? Or will these be
held in your own name and you be able to sell these whenever
you want and at whatever price you want. Who will
ultimately own these and benefit from the increasing value over
the years ?

Why should one need multiple copies of this deck in
order to study it ? There are many good reproductions and
studies of the variations between the different printings.
In any case it would not be wise to have many people handling
a 100 year old deck. Most collectors will treasure their copies
of this deck and only bring it out to show to a few colleagues,
not pass it around to be handled.

So excuse me for being a bit cynical about your project. There
are too many unanswered questions. I would not want to part with
my own copy without it being totally clear what are the realities of
ownership, and who would benefit from the future sale of these items.

Adam, don't even NOT be skeptical. In fact, if you feel the need to publicly voice it so vociferously you should get on a plane and come talk to us in person. I respect a healthy skepticism, and if you feel that your decks are worth more money in a vault hidden from view then via con Dios.

There are a billion collectible items. Cars, boats, whatnot, and there are TONS of ebay sellers buying and flipping decks and books. You **should** be skeptical. So be skeptical. I put out a message. I made it clear that I was not someone trying to wrangle a deck for "half off" or something. Decks come and go every week on ebay (and other sites and locations), so there is no shortage of them.

But the research and findings we have made have already increased the value of YOUR decks. No thanks are necessary--this is what we do every day. As to how we go about this, well you can see our work in museums and galleries. I can get you tickets when we have a showing in your local area.

As to many good reproductions--that is laughable. If you have examined what is published with a serious eye you know that the original decks have been recreated in various people's eyes. You seem to have a deck - look at it closely and compare it to what is published by the top corporate deck publishers. We have.

As to having people putting their hands on decks, obviously not every deck should be pawed to death, but there are several ways to allow serious students to experience the tarot. If some people want to hide their "treasures" in a vault then so be it. Why should we have museums and galleries anyway? Why don't we all just lock up the Mona Lisa, and Statue of David behind walls so that peasants never tarnish them by looking at them with their unclean eyeballs?

Skepticism is one thing. Hiding history is another. Anyway, I have no desire to argue, nor to answer baseless allegations. Thank you for the constructive parts of your post. Keep being skeptical and remember to hide the treasures from those not worthy to see them. My post has been hijacked.

Grr... I really should let this go -- but just so you know, the findings my research team has made already has INCREASED the value of your decks. It would seem pretty stupid of us to RAISE THE PRICE of your decks before we tried to sucker you into selling them to us. There are a lot of collectors out there, but very few researchers. We have picked up where Holly has left off. "Thank you" is a term you might consider when you approach us with a bit more consideration and politeness, and come to realize that we have already increased the value of your investments.

Nonetheless, I will continue to do research and promote awareness of these old decks -- which will increase public demand, which will drive the value of your decks UP. I will continue to do this whether you remain skeptical or not. We are doing this for history that is fading and simultaneously being overwritten. If you care to help then step up to the plate. If you are just interested in hoarding treasures, then consider yourself lucky to have us working to make you money.

Searching online, I see Adam's lecture and exhibit of Japanese Tarot at the Glasgow School of Art https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn6Uz9o1guI

but I'm not finding Dusty White's gallery or museum exhibits. Are there links to these and to information about this foundation?

Actually I'm not that happy about everyone trying to raise (or even succeeding in raising) the prices of decks by their research or whatever. If serious students want to study them - many decks are already well out of their reach.

I didn't build up my collection as an investment, and I would not be passing anything on from it to make a profit. I find that area rather sad when raised in a thread dealing with a foundation which allegedly wants to teach. In any event - if the students are all over the world - they will have to work from scans; they are hardly going to fly to view these things, so...

I feel I at least have to jump in here. As many know, I am doing a project into research to the old Pam decks and I have registered them. As well as lot of information about the decks. And I have been working closely with Dusty on this for about two years now (and Frank Jensen too). We have been corresponding about new finds and information.

The main goal of the foundation is to find out the history, trying to finally establish a timeline and find out what happened, which deck came first, where what was printed etc. And not to just raise the value of the decks. That is just a side effect that seems to have happened.

By studying the decks closely, and yes, that also includes scans, a lot of information has already been uncovered. To be honest, the reproductions really don't help with that at all. There is absolutely no comparison between the original Pam decks and any reproductions.

The reason for multiple copies is simply that apart from the differences between the A,B,C, D and Roses&Lilies, there are small differences between decks too, From printing processes. Any high resolution scans actually also really help a lot with the study.

Anyway, just had to voice this. I know this is not just a way to try and get people to part with their decks. Any high resolution scans are also welcome.

Even so - on the whole, students WILL need to work with scans.
