Hello,

I have a 1920 Pamela-B deck and I am hoping to obtain a 1909 or 1910 deck (Pamela-A) to compare to. I spend most of my time teaching and so I have my eyes on the art constantly. I would like to be able to do a lengthy side by side examination of the two decks. If you have a Pamela-A deck you would sell to a worthy cause (me--tarot researcher) who will give it the best home, please pm me, or reply.

If you know of someone who might be interested in passing on their Pamela-A deck please let them know that I would love to buy it (Roses and Lilies or Cracked mud--the backing is not my concern).

And finally, if you have a Pam-A or Pam-B deck and do NOT wish to sell it, but would be interested in trading image scans for historical research purposes please let me know. I am working on archiving image-specific information for future collectors.

But just for the record. If you really want to compare these decks, then you should know that there is a significant difference between the Roses&Lilies Pam-A and the crackled back Pam-A. Both in the colouring of the cards as in the actual cut images. So it probably will make a difference for your research

UPDATE:

Hollywoodkat (the same lady who sold me the B deck a few months ago) has another one on ebay:

$1895 seems a bit steep, but I nabbed mine for $1495, so due to the pristine quality of this deck she may think she can get more. No book, it looks like. My concern is that I have noticed differences in the line work. This deck comes in a blue box (not a red one) and the black line work is different. Keep in mind that these are both B decks. But one had definite lines not seen in the other. Also, the sun card ink is badly smudged. It looks as if the black was applied over the spot color, and then smudged while still wet.

Thanks to the people (and you know who you are) who have helped me further my research. I am still documenting the cards, the history, and the changes.

UPDATE: We have picked up two A decks, one is a "Presentation copy." It was either the deck given to Waite by the printer (doubtful) or a review copy of the newly minted 1910 decks with the thicker stock. Conducting research to figure out which it is by the stamps on it. Will detail all of this in my future research.
