As far as I've been able to discover, the Bestiárium, Azaz Tarot was a deck and book set created by Miskolczi Noémi Martina as an entry in the 2005 Hungarian Design Award competition. Ms. Miskolczi was a student at the Hungarian University of Arts and Design and ended up winning the award in the student category.
I don't know if there was originally more than the single copy submitted to the competition, but if the funky Hungarian translater I use can be trusted, copies may soon be availble from Ms. Miskolczi. Unfortunately, while I've found the web page of the Hungarian card printing company that appears to be the source of the cards (and sent them an email inquiry which has not gotten a response), I've been unable to find any contact info for Ms. Miskolczi.

I wonder whether contacting the Hungarian University of Arts and Design (as mentioned in the information in Mr la-Luna's link, would be a good starting point? I haven't the time nor the energy to do it myself, but maybe there is someone here who might pursue this for us? Any takers?

I've got an asnwer from Janoska Antal, he says that there going to be an expozition in Budapest in February, when is going to be decided if this deck/book set is going to be printed/published or not (he doesn't know the price yet). He also asked me about how many people would be interested in it -so if somebody is please post it here-it is just an informative inquiry-

Hi all, I'll stick my hand up too! These look fascinating.
I have two other decks from Hungary; Eredeti Magyar Kartya a 32 card non Tarot pack, and the beautiful Ludvig Tarot...
...but this Bestiarium Azaz tarot appears to be in another league altogether.

Dear Collectors!
I am happy to hear about your interest in my Tarot deck and book set.
I am planning to issue a series of 10 sets, however I am a bit concerned about the preparation method.
In the original version the cards were printed using two different techiques: polymer block of engraving (etching based on photo method) and a manual relief printing process. The book was leather covered.
According to my preliminary calculations the same quality would cost roughly 200-250 USD per set.

Martina, welcome to the forum! What a delight to see you here.
To me, the great appeal of your set is the consistent design language and execution of all the elements. So, personally, I would prefer a set that was the same quality as the original. (I.e., sign me up!)
(And again, what a testament to the value of Adam's forum. Two months ago I found mention of Martina's tarot online, but could find no other info. Today the artist and designer is here discussing her planned limited edition. How cool is that?)

Wow, that's a bit of money, but for the quality you mention...sign me up too. You'lll probably have all ten copies sold long before production time. How cool is that!
Let us know details as they become available, and when the 10 copies are sold out. It looks like I'm either the 4th or 5th person to confirm after knowing the price.
It's really a neat looking decks and I look forward to adding it to my collection.

Here is some description:
A deck of Tarot Cards and its Book of Explanations:
The Tarot symbols appear on the cards as Creatures evoked by dream controlling and conscious dreaming.
The hand-made leather-bound book is modelled on the Bestiaries of the Middle Ages (Bestiary is a book written in the Middle Ages containing descriptions of real and imaginary animals and creatures which was intended to teach morals and to entertain) It is a collection of imaginary creatures portraying the different stages of human life.
Archaic and modern methods are combined in the technical realisation of the Book.
The cards were prepared using two different techiques: polymer block of engraving (etching based on photo method) and manual relief printing process.
The size of the cards is 8x12,5 cm, 1mm thick, 22+1 cards.
The book is A/5 sized , 48 sheets, 1 side printed.

I haven't had a chance to comment on this before (was busy), but:
Those are just really wonderful (even if they're out of my price range)! The designs are just gorgeous, like medieval meets lovecaft, and the fact that they're hand made makes them even more special (adds to the medieval feel?).
How did you make the sides look worn and yellow? That looks really effective and it works very well with the look of the deck.

Dear Debra! I put you on the list of course :)
For sure I am working on this project, the last week I was busy with organizing an exhibition at "studio of young desginers assotiation" (http://www.fise.hu/).
Just to say a few words about the status, I will start the work in the binder workshop next week, the books will be finished whithin 3 weeks approximately.
In paralell I am also working on the cards, but they take a little more time than the books.
If anyone among the readers of this forum happens to be in Budapest in the upcoming days, please visit my exhibition and check out the set personally :)

Hello!
You were interested how I made the cards looking antique.
First I stongly pressed the cards together, with this I could chisel them as a piece of wood, this is how I rounded the corners.
Then I used a special paste which gives the antique look manually on each card.
I hope it helped,
