The first group of decks were shipped today.

Unfortunately, the costs that I got from the Post Office online calculator, were wrong! Sheesh, wouldn't cha know!

So see the sheet for the new updated costs, the Priority Mail box stayed the same, but the envelope costs were pretty far off, especially International. I thought they were going to be $11.40USD, but the shipping cost was actually $14.90USD. Which I guess is still cheaper than the 23.95 the box costs, but still 3.50 more than I thought.

2 decks need to go in box, they will not fit in the envelope!

Card size and ratio.  (Same as last year.)

This diagram is the actual card size and dimensions.  The dashed area is the border which will be done by someone else, your design area is 2 1/2 by 3 3/4 inches.  To make the final design look as good as possible, it is always recommended to work at a larger scale.  Then when the final design is scaled down at the end, it minimizes any little imperfections.  It just looks better.  The second diagram is the the card sized up twice size, just to give you good working dimensions.  You can work any scale you want, as long as the final ratio is 1:1.5.  In other words, 1 inch in the horizontal equals 1 1/2 inch in the vertical.

All dimensions are in inches

OK, proper 2013 thread...

I've already said I'll take the Aces, and I still will, but for the Trump I'll bag The World please.

On we go...

Are we ready to do another?
Obviously crazy, that I am.

Ok sure :-)
I'll take the aces please.
Hoping my 2012 deck will arrive soon .

I can't wait to do another one either
May i have the moon?

Wan't we 2013 do a full deck or a majors only again?
Can I have the Tower ?
(and in case of a full deck, i would like to do one of the queens)

Oh OK already; Lovers. (Has evil plan...)

Ok, I'm in. Not sure about which card yet... but I am in
I would like it if we could try for a full deck. See if maybe we can get enough people this year.

I think not if it is just a couple of dozen of us trying though....

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Eno

If we try a full deck with not so many people, I could do the Tower and all four Queens...

--------------------------------------------------------------------

gregory

I suppose that would be one way. One major and one - complete block of minors ?
ETA I just don't feel like a random load of minors. I could take the 5s, if we go that route....?
Decide fast; I picked them because I feel decidedly low and they sort of FIT just now

--------------------------------------------------------------------

If we should take that route (which I think is a good idea), I could do the 3's, unless anybody else wants them...

I did those once. They are fun !!

I'm in again. Could I have the magician? I'll do more if we decide to do a full deck.

May I have the Sun and the 4 Pages?

Have we decided on a major and a "number" set then ? It would work - and there would be 8 majors on their own for people who - couldn't face it.... Not that we got enough to do one each last time !!!!

Well,

I guess we are doing a 2013 deck.

If you decide to take a card, let me know your regular email (if I don't have it already).  it's alot easier to communicate thru email.

Ok, I have decided on my cards. I would like Temperance (I did Temperance before, but I got a great image for it, so Temperance it is again). And as minors the 6's.

Here's my rough draft of The Sun. Can I confirm that we do image only, no numbers or titles (those will be taken care of by skad1)?  Thanks.

I'm all for letting people have the ones they want.  5 cards is alot for some people,  and may turn them off the deck.  I'm hoping to get more people involved, so singletons will probably be appreciated.

If you don't want to take them all, that's cool.  I've got you down for all 4, but if change your mind later, let me know and I'll put them out for grabs.

Didn't see that the 10s were already taken. I can take the Fool or the High Priestess if they're still available.

I don't think we should go with a theme. It will just mean people will drop and it doesn't really work usually. We will have long discussions and end up with no theme anyway. So I vote for no theme!

I really, really like the idea of a theme, but I have been really, really outvoted on the subject.  And it wasn't worth it to me, so I am not going to push a theme, and I think I was the only one pushing the subject.  The thing that will take all the individual cards together into a cohesive deck will be the consistent border.  And the name and numbers on the border.

In my not in the very slightest, totally nonhumble opinion, a theme REALLY only works when it's one person doing the artwork. the blue line JUST made it. But - well, we all see things differently; I well recall the Chimera idea when we even disagreed about what one WAS....

LOOK at that chart filling up !!! Way to go us.

Ah, that's too bad, you're one of the people who have been involved since almost the beginning.  And like someone else who skipped, once it's done, you can never get that deck. Remeber you have until June to complete the card.

I sorted on who has been in each deck, and there were 56 people involved, of those so far there are 7 who have been involved in all the decks (including this one.) there are 4 with 6 decks to their credit, 3 people with 5 decks, 5 with 4 decks, 5 with 3 decks, 15 with 2 decks, and 17 with one deck.  How about that for a bit of statistics?)  The numbers include this years deck.

I've worked out a frame for this year.  Rather than the graphic ones from the last couple years, I went with a frame as the frame!  What 'cha think?  I put the Strenght in one so you can see what it'll lookk like.

Hello you all! I am new here, thanks for having me on the forum! gregory was so kind to invite me to participate, and i would love to! If it's ok I'd rather only do one card since it's the first time for me creating a tarot card ever - can I do The High Priestess? It might end up being more a "Papesse", since I am all about historic decks and TdM, but I hope that's ok :-)

I think this will be fun! Looking forward to it, and to being here on the forum in general!

I see a lot of cards are taken already and that is great! It will be wonderful to have a full deck again.. yah! :ce 7 majors and 3 sets of minors still to go.

I just want to throw a suggestion out there. Since there are not that many cards left and maybe some people are weary to do all 4 of a minors, we could also give just one or two minors to those who are willing instead of all 4. Or just wait a bit longer to see who else will participate.

Somehow it looses the "evileness" if you freely admit it, then giggle.  Now don't lie, I heard that giggle.

Rules up front say you can take 1 major and 2 minors, unless taking a group, so it has always been so.  There are just others lurking in the shadows who pop in once and awhile to have fun with some poor soul.

Hello! I started thinking about my card, but I am confused about inches and mms... So the actual design I have to do should be 2,5 x 3,75 inch, right? on the diagramm it's written that this equals 5,29 x 7,94 mm - but this should be cm, right? anyway, the values seem to be off, too, no? One inch is 2,54 cm, no? so 2,5 inch should be 6,35 cm and 3,75 inch should be 9,525 cm, no? or am i getting something totally wrong here... Thanks!

No, they haven't. (there's a chart in the first post in the thread.)

And to have YOU do some would be AWESOME.

Minors - 9s and Kings are still up for grabs; majors, Emperor, Hermit and Wheel - and the title card, which might be trickier for someone who hasn't been here that long ! Some of us (she said hopefully, and knowing of your talents) have taken a major and a full set of minors. but you don't have to. At the moment it is still limited to one major per person, but Sherry might always change her mind.

*mutters - must get on with those 5s... mutter mutter*

Dear Tarot Collectors Forum Collaborative Deck creators,
It is with much sadness, a very heavy heart, acute embarrassment and sincerest apologies that I must announce I am unable to complete any cards for this year's collaborative deck. I realise this is somewhat of a monstrous shabby, given that there is so little time left for anyone else to jump into the breech, but the pressures of life, and my abysmal time management, all require that I make this decision now and not procrastinate any longer.
Once again, I am truly sorry to leave you all in the lurch, and only hope that some artistic wizard with proverbial skates on undertakes to do my cards – The World and the four Aces.
Hopefully I may be allowed back into the circle again sometime in the future…
Best regards,
adamuS

I'm preparing to send you all my cards (all five). Do I need to put the title on them or will you do that? I am sending them in 2.5 x 3.75 format. Is that correct? I will also send them with a description. Please tell me if this is correct or if I need to do something different. I still have time to do it right:)
Thanks!

As of today, here is the status for the deck.

Of 80 cards
-26 are done!  (33% complete)  :ok
   - 8 still need a home (10% orphans)  :?

   -11 card descriptions (14% complete) :D

If you would like to do more cards, check the list and let me know.

I would adopt The Hermit. But I am not sure if I can have that card also ready before the end of June. The 6 of cups will be ready soon. The Hermit needs a bit of thought for me though (hehe.. like a true Hermit :bl).

Hi skad1,

I have sent the large version of my cards to you in two mails on June 15th. Had you got them?

Hi Skad1 and all the others.

I will probably finish my Moon card on time, but I will be late with the 3s. I hope to be able to finish them before mid July.

If I had more time for the 3s (say late August) they would probably end up a lot better. Would this delay be a problem? If you want to stay within the schedule, that's still fine by me. I'll post what's there by mid July and hope not to spoil the overall quality of the deck :?.

I have seen your cards on facebook and I don't think they are lame at all. Besides, I think it is important to just be a part of it and be as creative as you can be. No need for comparison.

Yea!

I will post the updated list in a little bit, there are still cards left.  I have put truelight down for the Hermit.

I really hoped I didn't have to do this, but there are only 30 cards in, so deadline has been put back to July 31........oh, what the heck, you know it'll happen anyway  :f.....deadline is August 15.  And that's final.  Really  :f :cc

I will update the list on the front page as I get the descriptions and the high resolution files.  There may be a day or 2 delay, but that's your best place to check if I've forgotten to let you know if I have you cards.

Remember it's not complete until I get the high resolution file! :D

Anyone know how to get hold of Palestrina?  I get error messages back on his email addresses, and he hasn't responded to a PM.

This is a list of people what have all or some of their cards missing.  Tarot Dance has completed his original 5 and taken another, plus he has completed all the descriptions.   I feel kinda guilty putting on the list, but what can I say....     For any questions see the main list on the first page.

acucent, Ambriel, atum, le_charior, Marcia959, MicheleJ2, Morwenna, palestrina, papoon, Quarkling, skad1, truelighth, Tarot Dance, Trzes

OK - so his last addy bounced (it may be his ISP actually; everyone I know with that one has moved on !) - I've gone in via another route... He still exists; the last thing I did some work for him on - only a couple of months ago - is up line as finished !

If there are any cards that will not be done by others, I can also adopt a few more. :hp

But I guess we won't know now until the new deadline approaches. And I am almost ready with my cards.

I have heard back from everyone but le_charior, and she still has tomorrow.  Only one person can't do their cards, so 5 cards are available, first come first gets.

The Chariot, Seven of Wands, Seven of Swords, Seven of Cups, Seven of Pentacles

See sign up sheet on first page, but watch posts to see who has taken any cards.

There was quite a few people interested in additional cards so take only acouple at this point.

Thanks  :tt

I haven't heard from lecharior so The High Priestess is available,

along with The Chariot, Seven of Wands, Seven of Swords

If you want it, grab it, first come, first get, no limits (sounds like I should be in Vegas (baby))

The Chariot is the only one left....usually the majors are the first to go.

Starting tomorrow I will only be checking in acouple times a week.  Hope you have no emergencies.  :cl

Remember, Sept 15 is final date,  and you are not complete until I get the high resolution copy.  See first post for table with who has sent in their cards, and descriptions, and bios...

Hello all, I'm back emerging from ...somewhere (not very pleasant to say the least).

This evening I will be posting the descriptions for my cards.

If still needed I cab take 'The Chariot' card ...I have the impression i could use some of it's energy and what better way to summon that than to create one

By the Way, If I haven't stated it, if you want to make changes or updates to your card, you can until I send them to the printer.  I needed to have the final cards to know who was really doing them, and to work on the frame and formatting, but the inside card can be updated relatively easily.

Ok, now I can agree with that!  If you are confused, do they call you Connie for your knickname? :cl

All cards present and accounted for.  Some bios and descriptions not in, but that's normal and i am not going to hassle people for them.  Check table on the first page of this thread so see if i have yours.

All I was saying (hmmm....wasn't there a song that said that?) was that, if you see your card in the frame and there is something you would like to change, you can do so.  If you would like to see the hig res version of your finished card, let me know and I'll send it to you for you to evaluate.

Well, I finally have the deck to the printers to get a quote!!
:ce:ok
There was a *slight* problem with the lwb which required a redo. then when I was getting the file ready for the printer I noticed there was no back card. And I had thought to redo the back to get it to better quality, but nooo-oo--yikes.
Oh well, done for now. finally

TA-DA !!!
:ce:ce:ce
Finally, they are done! Sorry for the picture quality, I took the pix with my phone and it isn't the best. The cost went up quite a bit this year, so the little white book turned into a 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. ($143 dollars versus $25 dollars-no brainer).
I need to finalize the numbers and let you know the final cost per deck, probably around $26 US dollars. I'll get that done this weekend and let you know.

I did get 5 extra decks this time, so if you want an extra let me know.

IF YOU DON'T WANT A DECK, LET ME KNOW, I can let someone else have it. Every year all the decks go.

I think I solved the riddle about german senders paying paypal fees:

Paypal's German terms and conditions state: "In Deutschland ist ggf. unter manchen Umständen und von manchen Endgeräten nur der Empfang von persönlichen Zahlungen möglich, nicht aber das Versenden" which roughly translates to : "In Germany possibly under some circumstances and with some sort of device you can only receive personal payments but not send them." Leaving out euphemistic talk that means: You can't. Full stop. Therefore payments from Germany can only be made non-personal, where the sender can't cover the fees.

If you do want to cover the fees, you have to add the fee (for non-personal payments!) manually. Payment fee for payment in dollars from Germany to US is 3.9% plus 0.30 USD. The Math: Final price = (Price + 0.3) / (1  - 0.039)  (not Price*(1 + 0.039) + 0.3 because the 3.9% are taken from the final price not from the original one). If (and only if) the payment is made in dollars then the sender pays the currency exchange fee automatically.

It took me a while to sort that out. Maybe others find it helpful too

Actually, a bit more to cover the shipping to either Adam or Museo. Ah well, I was feeling generous and I got something to celebrate today :ok:kt

Thanks people for your responses, I was alittle concerned it was a trend, but I should have known better.

I got my deck!!! Ohhhhhhhh!! Love it!

It's a taken a turn this year, don't you'll think?

It seems more perspicuous than years before.

I worried the humming bird cover card wouldn't fit well with the rest of the deck, but it seems okay...all the cards are wonderful.

I love the Fool card. The Empress is wonderful!

And, I adore the Hierophant. It gave me a grin to see the good Pop Francis waving at me. :)

The Three of Swords is sooo cute.

I am sending the second deck I ordered to the Tarot Museum in Belgium...unless anyone objects?
