I don't really "do tarot" myself other than occasional appreciation
of the artwork, but I am trying to help someone [my mom, in fact]
sell off a fairly extensive collection. She doesn't want to try
becoming a seller on any of the popular services due to various
risks and I certainly don't blame her, but I offered as someone a
little more aware of the security problems/mitigation to shoulder
some of those tasks. As it seems to be kosher to offer and sell
decks via this forum, a little notification here seems okay to do
and if it isn't, I apologize in advance.

So I've set up an Amazon account [still won't do ebay, no way] to
broker some of this, but it's not strictly necessary to go through
that and a private sale would probably work just as well and avoid
comission overhead. I don't expect to become some sort of high
volume seller; this is just to send some of these decks to a
good home at a fair price. It may be that the asking prices
seem high in some cases -- as others have said, this is a very
inexact science in terms of assigning value.

So far I've only listed five decks under the amazon seller "Startower":

+ Tarot of Wicca
+ Fantasy Showcase
+ Alchemical Tarot
+ Ansata Tarot
+ Servants of the Light

We also have an Egipcios Kier (spanish), a Greenwood Tarot, and a
Frown Strong. Hopefully that means something to someone. And quite a
few others on deck, so to speak, although I don't have a ready list
at the moment. This initial set is to gauge interest.

I'm in the Boston area. My contact with the net can get somewhat
sporadic during various spring events, so if an order via Amazon doesn't
get responded to in mere microseconds please understand that it may take
a few days before I even see it. Hopefully folks here are flexible
enough that they wouldn't go trashing a wet-behind-the-ears seller for
being new at the game and also trying to have a life. Only trying to
help.

I got two more pieces of data last night about all this...

1> We can nominally only ship within the US.

2> All decks are in pristine condition, including never having
been *shuffled* which I'm told is significant.

Take care with this person !

'Biscuit' has just emailed me to ask how he can get round the Javascript that runs the Forum. The only reason 'Biscuit' would want to do this is so that they can remain totally anonymous. I would advise against dealing with sellers who want to remain anonymous and uncontactable.

I'm sorry, Mr. McLean is incorrect, and I've asked him to retract
the above and issue an apology. Scripting has nothing to do with anonymity,
and I have it ENABLED when I visit here anyway. I wouldn't have
posted an Amazon storefront or use the forum from my own home network if
I was looking for anonymity -- what a ridiculous assumption.

I am, however, careful about how much information I drop in areas of
the internet I don't really control. So I tend to conveniently forget
to fill in things like profile information. But since such things can
be faked up anyway, how would that help?

Please decide for yourselves, and I welcome comments from those I've
already been PMing with about an exchange if they care to step in.
I hope you'll agree that Mr. McLean has gone way over the line here.
If his response is to ban me off here, well, so be it -- if he doesn't
want people to try and help the community, that's his lookout.

If buying through Amazon, I believe Amazon would deal with any issues, should they come up. And they ban marketplace sellers if they need to. So if people are interested - the Amazon account would be the way to go.

That said - there have been fraudsters trading in forums; we are all aware of them. Adam isn't wrong to suggest watchfulness.

Gregory -

I would say that we can thank Adam for running this forum in a respectful, professional manner. When he sends a warning, it is for a reason.

All he asked us to do was beware, and that is fair. We each then make our own decisions, with the information that we have at hand.

Back to regularly scheduled programming!

Blessings,
Bonnie

Oh yes, I agree. That was why I suggested only buying through amazon - then if there IS an issue, amazon should be able to fix it and block any duff seller. I have posted warnings aimed at - individuals who won't use paypal (which is perfectly safe but expensive) -  here myself in my time... :cl
