In the past week or two, something's changed when I type in this forum (both pms and posts). My keyboard lags. It's only on this forum. It causes me to mak many typos.
I checked with a fellow member who writes, "I notice some odd typing behavior here sometimes too. Just yesterday, my cursor disappeared, but I could still jump around blindly."

I've always had to wait until the Reply screen's done loading before it'll let me type anything. Then there's a 50/50 chance there will be a cursor. Was never sure why it does this. This is the only forum where I've experienced this as well.

I have noted the same problem with loss of cursor. It does not stop one entering text, but it is a bit unnerving when one is editing or making changes.
The forum works using java scripts. There can be problems with the new versions of java and it seems to get continually updated. I expect once the javascript aligns with some new update to java that this will resolve.

I think it must be the Java. It has only just started happening to me since I installed Java updates.

Bingo! Now that you mention it, I remember the automatic Java update preceded this wildly annoying development.

That's odd; I posted earlier saying that there is actually an advantage to being on rubbish dialup where nothing updates except my antivirus.... And it's not here any more. But thanks for the headsup - I don't allow automatic updates in the UK, so that's one I shall not be doing.

Mine's not automatic - it has to ask me first. It had been reminding me for weeks, if not months, and I'd have left things as they were except that the cursor kept 'sticking' to the blue bar at the top of the window, and sometimes the window itself would just jump to another position on the screen. So when I read this thread I thought that perhaps updating the Java would fix the problem - ha ha......
It's working fine at the mo though...

Updated to add that I uninstalled the Java update as my cursor seemed almost unusable yesterday. I had to turn the computer off at the mains twice as the cursor wouldn't allow me to click on 'start', and loading anything at all was incredibly slow, with no little green-block bar at the bottom of the screen to show you how it's going.
Uninstalling seems to have fixed those particular problem, but I was typing this 'blind' until I added the rabbit...

This problem seems to be affecting other board software. I saw some notices on the Internet analysing the problem as a problem in the way the latest version of Java handles a textfield. I am sure the engineers at Java will eventually issue a new version fixing this problem. They must be getting request for fixes from various people.
In the meantime, I am sorry but there is absolutely nothing I can do about this. I myself experience this problem on a number of boards. I have no way of adjusting the software to make it work with the recent Java update.

NO-one is blaming you, Adam. We just all always hope one of us has a fix for the problems others find .
I have just downloaded a no-scripts add on for firefox and no longer have issues, if anyone cares....

If the add-on leads to The Return of the Invisible Cursor, yep, I want it! Can you give us a link, Gregory?

Just go to get addons, and search :)
OR
http://noscript.net/?ver=1.9.9.81 (MIGHT work as a link; that's what I got AFTER I installed it !)
You DO have to make an effort to allow scripts where you WANT them (like here !)
