Just curious how many have interest in cards other than tarot (oracles, other cartomantic decks, artist-designed playing cards, etc.). For me, although my main focus is definitely tarot, I'm open to pretty much anything with art I find intriguing. So my collection does include a modest selection of oracles and playing cards.
How about everyone else? Oracles and/or playing cards, or tarot only?

I have a very modest number of cards that fall into the "other" category.....although some may be more "other" than others LOL........so I have no objections unless anybody else feels the focus should be on Tarot to the exclusion of all else.

Sorry, just to be clear, I didn't mean to imply that I was suggesting we broaden the range of discussion. I was just curious about how many of us collected other sorts of card art.

It's from the absolutely amazing mushroom-inspired Kinoko Tarot by Shigeo Otake. You can see all the cards on Otake's web site.
Unfortunately, despite the photo of an actual deck on the site, as far as I know it was only ever published as a book along with an essay by Shuji Terayama. I have the book and it is exquisite. Gorgeously printed on really nice stock. I highly recommend it. (But I would love to have it as a deck, if it ever existed as such.)Last edited on Tue Sep 11th, 2007 05:54 am by ahclem

I got mine from a bookstore in the UK. For some reason, there seem to be a lot of copies in the UK. Search Abebooks or wherever for ISBN 4894444305. I've seen it for as little as $19 (but watch the shipping).

My "shadow" collection of oracles has grown to include around 150 items (I have posted them with my Tarot list), most of them in card form, but also some runes and the like.
Not included are my playing cards ... only about 50 or so decks, I have to admit I never catalogued them. They just trickle in because I can't always resist a pretty deck when I see one.

I have about 25ish oracles, a few playing cards, and even some 'Collectable Card Game' role-playing cards - mainly the ICE Lord of the Rings cards.
Maybe I just like things that are flat and rectangular, but I'm not that bothered whether something is tarot or not, and a lot of decks sold as tarot aren't, so I just buy what I like and can afford.

Well I recently cleaned out my "tarot-collection-list" and putt all things that where tarot in name only in my list with oracles (list that has almost doubled as a result to around 25 decks). The result is that I now have 3-separated list of decks: Tarot – Oracles and playing cards.
So I came once again with the problem what makes a tarot into a tarot it must be more than just a title to me. If the structure isn’t there it goes under oracle.

Thanks, nice to be here .
I got the Mucha playing cards from http://www.playingcardsales.com. Couldn't decide whether to get the Ls or Piatnik so got both.

I tried this too, but ended up with a burgeoning Miscellaneous category as well as one for Playing Cards.

I am also collecting Playing-cards published by Philibert, Waddington, Dondorf and more.
I am collecting some fine Facsimile editions and Replicas of Renaissance Illuminated Manuscripts.
