These last months I have been busy creating a Majors Only deck, called the Pippa Tarot.
A little background: Pippa is a small doll (6,5") that was made by Palitoy in the UK and sold in the 1970's. Pippa is the main character/doll, but she had a bunch of friends with different names. But the dolls are usually referred to as Pippa dolls. In the US there was an equivalent of Pippa, called Dawn, produced by Topper.
But this tarot is featuring only Pippa dolls. I started collecting these next to tarot (still my main passion) about two years ago. And somewhere along the way the idea of making a tarot featuring the pippa dolls was born.
I am using my own dolls, have made the outfits, backgrounds etc etc and will be photographing these to make the cards. It will be a majors only deck, with a few extra cards.
I do plan on having them printed, probably by the Gamecrafter. Unless someone else wants to print them or I find another option. Anyway, I hope you all like them.
This is the first card that is ready (apart from the titles): The MagicianAttached Image (viewed 189 times):

We used to have Dawn dolls. I wonder where they are....
This is different and rather fun. Keep it up.

I have now finished most of the cards, apart from the titles. There are still 5 more cards to do. Possibly 4 more, if I do Aces as well. I am still thinking about that. And I will need to make a title card and back.
Anyway, so far I only posted cards that were more or less based on the RWS. So here are some that are not based on the RWS. The first one is the Moon:
The Moon features a Goddess from the Greek Mythology: Artemis, with her bow. Since she is connected to the Moon. And well, lobsters and towers just are not Pippa . She is accompanied by a wolf, that is howling to the Moon. To represent the uncertain path the Moon often shows.Attached Image (viewed 158 times):

The second also uses the Greek Mythology: here is The Wheel.
The Wheel features the Morai or Fates from Greek History. Clotho, she who spins the thread, is behind the spinning wheel of course. Lachesis, she who measures the thread, is holding a clock to represent the passing of time. And Atropos, she who cuts the thread, is holding scissors.
Traditionally the tree fates are represented by a young girl, a mature woman and a crone. This is a bit difficult to do with Pippa dolls. So I have used their clothes to represent this: baby blue for Clotho, darker blue for Lachesis and black for Atropos.Attached Image (viewed 159 times):

The third one is The Devil:
For the Devil I am using the concept of desires and addiction. The Devil is often connected to our more sinfull desires and pleasures, those of the flesh. So the card is featuring the following desires: sex (lingerie), sweets (cakes), alcohol and cigares. The handcuffs represent how one can be bound by these, for instance by addiction.
This was actually the very first card I worked out all the details for.Attached Image (viewed 158 times):

And lastly I have The Sun. For this card I used the Marseille imagery of two children, well, in this case, girls, dancing in the sun. I have adopted some elements of the RWS (sunflowers, wall behind them). Attached Image (viewed 159 times):

Hi Truelight.
It really has a very nice atmosphere.
I really like all of the props that you've come up with.
Well done!

Thanks OnePotato. Glad you like it
I spend a lot of time just thinking out the cards and how I could give them shape. And then hunting down the props or making them. But it is a lot of fun.
I have now finished the titles with the cards (the majors). And so I decided to post the next card: The Tower! This one was one that gave me headaches. How to give this shape and still have a doll in there. I came up with the following solution. I think it works.Attached Image (viewed 142 times):

Also, I want to reveal one of the surprises I planned in this deck. It will not exist of 78 cards, but there will be a few extra cards.
Among the extra cards, there will be alternate versions of the Lovers. I choose the concept of choice for the Lovers cards. And it will be up to the user to decide which of the Lovers cards they want to choose Attached Image (viewed 131 times):

This deck strikes me as extremely clever - especially evident in the Lovers Card.
Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, Niclas :). I have used my own knowledge of many decks and interpretations and I see it as a compliment that you say that this deck is clever.

Thanks, BlueToy! The Tower was especially difficult to me to think of something that would work. And then I suddenly had a 'strike of lightning' so to say.. hahaha.

Hi Sebille,
Thank you for your comments! I am glad you like it. I made this tarot deck last year.
I guess you found my photobucket account, since the whole deck is on there in a special folder. .
The alternate Fool, Strength and Temperance cards I made are not on there though. Last edited on Mon Aug 8th, 2016 07:58 pm by truelighth

Well, two years after finishing the original Pippa Tarot, I decided to make illustrated minors after all. At the time, I felt that it was too much work to also do the minors. So I opted for pip cards. But after making 8 cards with Pippa dolls for collaborative decks, I suddenly got the urge to make the illustrated minors.
So here is the very first new card for the Pippa Tarot:
P.S. Yes, I do plan to find a way to get these printed as wellAttached Image (viewed 32 times):
