This deck appears to be sold out now, but you can see pictures of the full decks (there's a Dark deck and a Light deck) at http:boltcutterdesign.net/tarot.html.
I purchased the Dark deck and liked it so much I wanted to order the Light deck. I've e-mailed him to see about the possibility of a second print run; the first run was 100 each.

Someone over at AT reported communicating with someone at Bolt Cutter and being told that they'd sold a bit less than half of the edition (not clear if that's half of the editions of each of the two decks) to a "distributor." So there's at least some chance that some of those will be showing up for sale somewhere. I'm actually kind of curious to know which distributor this is.
They presented the decks as limited editions of 100 each (plus 10 each of "Deluxe" versions), so a reprint would be a bit squirrely.Last edited on Thu Dec 17th, 2009 01:41 am by papoon

Kimber, have you received your deck? I am curious about the card stock.

Yes, it came today. The card stock is #110, so it feels kind of like thinner playing card stock or heavier photo stock (if that makes any sense). The presentation is nicely done, and although many of the cards are RWS clone-ish, there are many which are not. I need to spend some more time with the cards this weekend.
That's greta news if they've sold them to TG or some other resource where they'll be accessible once again. The $35 price is very reasonable.

I received a very prompt response from Mike, who indicated that they are working on a new deck...I didn't write back to ask about the distributor rumor though.
I DID, however, manage to snag a leftover Light deck!! BwwahaahaahHHaaaaAA!!!

Congrats Kimber, on getting the Light deck. I am still awaiting my copies of both the Dark and the Light one. Hopefully this weekend. And great news that they are working on a new deck... I will keep this on my radar.
But eh... ok, curiousity just got the better of me. I was wondering about the title of this thread... Oblivion Tarot. Is that the official name? Or what? So far, I have only seen it been called BoltCutter Dark and Light on AT.

I received mine today and am quite happy with the card stock... It is not laminated or very thick but I think it can be used quite well if one is careful
and let's be honest... I rarely use any of my decks besides the RWS and Thoth anyway..
Truelighth ... the deck says it is the Dark Tarot... I believe the Oblivion is the name they use as in Oblivion Press.

I purchased the Dark deck on Ebay from the artists, and it was listed as The Oblivion Tarot. Tarot I is the Dark deck, and Tarot II is the Light deck.
Always happy to further confuse things!!

You'd a thought with a 100 copies I would have heard about them soon enough to get one.

So what's the deal? Other than they are not taking any new orders and to be gentle with their artists? Like we'd take them out and rough them up. Well, if they were in Dallas, and I had the time...
Edited to add: .... and if they were cute.

Basically they were SWAMPED - as soon as the info was up on AT they sold within 21 hours.... I await both. I don't think they are printing more; it said limited, so....

These decks are fabulous, but I have a question on the description at their page. It says they are "genetically signed." Can someone explain to me what that means? I've never heard that before.
Thanks.

The Dark and Light are sold out entirely. The other is new and not finished. When I get my Dark and Light I'll see if I can detect anything genetic.....

I am SO with you, girl! Um, except that I'm married, and it's a husband and wife team that did the deck. DAMN the luck!!
Are you really in Dallas?? I lived there for 5 years and had no kindred souls!!

I've got a respond from the "Bolt Cutter Design-people" on mail about the new deck, this is what hey had to say:
"Thank you for you interest in our decks.
This deck came about as a direct result of the Oblivion decks. What is included in those
decks is a fraction of the work that was produced. In an effort to let some of that other
work see the light of day, we decided to incorporate elements into a new deck, using the
Oblivion decks as a starting point. There will be similarities, and shared imagery. However,
while the Oblivion decks were graphic in nature, the Magna Veritas deck will be more "painterly",
& moodier. The new deck will have a new format, added features & a whole different "feel" to the images.
I believe it premature to accept pre-orders at this time. There are only 11 cards done, after all.
We may not even have the resources to produce it as a multiple when the time comes. Creating a
deck is a time and labor intensive project. Who can say what may happen between now & its
completion. Stay tuned, when we get further along to within 5 cards of completion,
I will have a better idea of where we stand, and will post the info on the website.
Thank you again for your support of BoltCutterDesign and our work.
Regards,
Mike M."

Thanks Kimber, ok, that clears that up! It was just that the website didn't give any name of the deck. Fortunally I also managed to order the Dark and Light. Now, if only the Dutch postal services would be faster... grrr...

I got the exact same response, although when I checked the site they are displaying 21 cards, so it seems they've been sending out the same response for some time.
I wonder if they're taking votes on which of the four possible card backs they'll use? I would vote for B, I thought it was the most striking (although D is nearly identical).

Well, unfortunately, the "distributor" who picked up the balance of the Boltcutter Light/Dark Oblivion decks is bunny410, who sells on Ebay for unreasonably high prices. Check out Item # 380196816607 - starting bid is $99.00.

I've actually been correcte via e-mail; apparently, this auction is a (to borrow an English term) one-off; this party is not the "distributor" mentioned.

Actually, I am the person selling my deck on ebay.
I'm not any distributor, I just bought it and didn't like
it. Nothing unusual. I didn't even know there was
any distributor for that deck. I thought they were
all sold directly from the artist.
I saw that you recently sold a Boho gothic regular
deck for $300 and that deck was $18 new so I
figure that a $30 deck, limited to only 100 copies
would go for $99 at least. I got my deck
and to be honest, I'm not that thrilled with it
so I would rather sell it than hold on to it.
Sorry that you all think I'm a 'dick'.
From all the people on ebay reselling out of
print decks for higher than issue price, I guess
we are all dicks then.
There are over 14,000 decks on ebay on any given
day, more than half of them are out of print.

^ Aww, I just sold my Dark Deck, and actually bought the Light Deck via another Tarot forum (Aeclectic) today. I ended up liking the Light a lot better, but sadly only bought the Dark back when they were available.
I bought the Dark deck as soon as I read about it, and as gregory said in this thread, they sold out in 1 day - crazy.
Check eBay as well, you never know.
And, at the very least, you can buy the Magna Veritas Tarot once they release the details about that (hopefully soon).
