Someone from Italy has contacted me about an unidentified
deck that they say is of Romanian origin.
There are, to my mind, a few problems with this item.
The colour of the print seems still quite strong and
almost fresh, yet the cards appear to be very old,
almost like surviving examples of mid 19th century decks.
I am unconvinced of its age and yet cannot see how a
deck produced say in recent times could have naturally
aged in this way.
The cards are untitled so one cannot identify its
country of origin. The imagery looks familiar to me
from somewhere, but I cannot remember where I have seen
it. The distinctive top border on the Majors should
