Hi!

I'm trying really hard not to collect tarot decks, so I joined this forum in hopes that I might have better access at enjoying others' decks. Possibly that was not a good idea— sort of like shopping on an empty stomach. I have purchased an inordinate amount of decks in the past month or two or three. I made up great excuses for each of them. The best excuse is "I will soon run out of money, so I should get this deck while I still have some cash." Totally logical.

My original reason for collecting tarot was because I was drawing my own deck and I wanted inspiration. (google "Tarot of the Absurd" or "barefootfool" for my site & pictures if you like) I finished drawing. My new excuse is that I want to support other tarot artists. Same reason waitresses tip well.

Hmm. Luckily, I have no idea when you are serious and when you are not. My deck isn't "supposed" to make you do anything, especially not gag. Sorry for the discomfort if you do. Thanks for looking, tho.

It started out as an illustration project. The title is a working title; I make no attempt to hide that I am the fool. I think everybody who enjoys tarot has their own reason. I like comparative mythology. I read Mesopotamian, Indian, Native American, Christian, Hindu, Greek, Evolutionary, Norse, etc. with delight, unfortunately only in English. I enjoy following the evolution of the dozens of versions of Cinderella. I like linguistics. I learn about myself and the world from all of these. I rarely enjoy reading the works of commentators and critics, tho I enjoy the historians (more myth). I see tarot in the vein of faerie tale and myth and beliefs and words that change as society's needs change. I enjoy the beauty of all of it. That's just me.

One of my favorite books is Salaman Rushdie's "Haroun and the Sea of Stories." I found it brilliant, accessible, light, and delicious. He wrote it after getting in trouble for writing "The Satanic Verses," which I also found brilliant, tho a bit more difficult to read. Again, that's me.

Peace,
B. Fool

Thank you all! I am currently working with a printer and I'm going to self-publish it in a run of probably 500 decks. I just had a baby, tho, so there's a 7-pound setback at the moment. It'll be soon.
