New version of deck check list. Now it shows the resolution size of the file I have, and file date. I suspect there are a few higher resolution versions out there, but I don't really have the time to go chase them right now, so check your cards and the resolution. If you want the deck to have a higher resolution version, send it over to me.

OK, posting this in the right place!
This is a first draft of my Devil but the blue line here is part of the real deal graph that lost so many people their retirements, jobs, hopes and dreams. It's just an example. Let me know what you guys think. The economy is that train wreck we can't look away from. So many people were "hooked" on the stock market and so suddenly said, If only I had hit the "sell" button.
Thought I would add that the snake is just a little cutie-pie honey-bunch from the Monterey Aquarium. Since the glass between the snake and me was very thick, the view is a little distorted, which seemed to echo the false promises of the Dot Com boom and bust.

The Sun.
This card is inspired by my 12 year old son, Nail, who was diagnosed with Attention Deficient Disorder-Hyperactivity and Conduct Defiant Disorder in 2008. Getting him help has been, is and will be a long hard road, but somehow out of his darkness he manages to shine a light of enlightenment and joy on others which sets him apart from the average child. At his worst, he's a tyrant that I wouln't wish on my worst enemy. At his best, he's a charming, loving, inuitive, empathetic little man who will steal your heart with his simple grin and big brown eyes.

Hi Stefan! I'm glad to see your card! :)
I am interested in how people refine their work. So anyway, here's a bunch of my sketches--it started with a post-it note. It's been about six hours of drawing and I can't tell if I'm any closer to doing the actual card.

I painted this on one evening + 1 hour on the next morning. And I only made one smaller sketch. The first thing I need, when I do a painting is an image in my head. After that I try it on paper. Normaly that is enough. I never make different outlines (right word?) The important process is happening in my head. It needs a big "YES", and that´s it ;-)

I'm not good at drawing and sketching, so I tend to trace things I like and alter and/or layer it.
I am finding great joy lately in working with gel pens and magic markers....
I can only wish I could just draw some of the images I have in my head...

Hello Ambriel....if you are up to playing with another version of the SUN, you might enjoy experimenting with the image of the boy's face, (your son, right)?
Here is my esoteric theory...if you move the eyes a bit closer together, your son's eyes will appear very focused...like he is concentrating. We will all receive the impression of a very focused son(sun).
Your son will receive and be influenced by our perception of his image,each time we view the card.

Thank you acucent. I will keep that in mind. Yes, he is my son, and my sun! :) I took a picture of his face and traced it best I could onto the drawing. It's really frustrating for me because I want to be able to draw free hand so badly, but find it very difficult, even when I am trying to follow a block of instruction...so I have to get very creative with my tracing. I may go back to the original and see if I can set the eyes closer.

The Queen of Cups. This card was created in Powerpoint using a copyright free Victorian Risque image. I created the tattoo on her shoulder and added the cup with the crown. Isn't she lovely? According to my research, Victorian era photographers often hired burlesque actresses and models for nude and semi-nude photographs. The market for "erotic postcards" was huge and people enrolled in subscriptions to received the postcards in the mail. Isn't she so naturally beautiful? The Queen of Cups does represent a natural innocence and the infinite patience it must have taken to takes photographs of this nature. I wondered, as I explored the images termed "Victorian Risque", how old some of these young women (or girls) may have been? Were they treated well? Were they paid a fair wage and afforded the opportunity to participate in the project as a person, or just as an object? Were they abused physically, mentally, or emotionally thru the experience? A thought...That which does not kill us only make us stronger, allowing us to trust our inner sense of what is true. These are the things which have the makings of a emotionally strong, stable woman. The King of Cups man is said to be wise, caring, tolerant and most of all in touch with their emotions. For a woman, this is a dream come true, right? Of course it is, but with this luxury comes the a deep, complicated thinker who may have a side to him which, at times, may be hard to understand. As the water flows, this man seeks to understand it down to the molecular level. He looks deep into the chalice well, hoping to find answers to questions not even the universe can provide. He seeks to unmask the soul of others, but neglects to reveal his soul to himself, leaving a aura around his spirits which draws the darkest of thoughts. But, somehow, his special energy manages to inspire those around him...leaving them longing for his presence and yearning for his touch. He cannot be tamed, but he can be loved.
This card was created using a photo I took of my King of Cups and Powerpoint. This is one of the more "simplistic" cards I created, but in a complicated world...a little simplicity seems to do me good.

Hi Ambriel. I like this portrait, too. Your cards show your thoughtful love for each subject.
I hope you don't mind a suggestion. In the Sun card, I think your son's eyes look disturbing. Maybe this is because they need a little spot of white in the pupil. Just some thoughts....i never know whether or not to offer any type of suggestion or card design critique in this forum....don't want to offend or step on toes.
those of us who are professional artists/designers welcome constructive design criticism...we are used to it. others may be offended.
sometimes another person's eye is able to envision an enhancement that can bring the design to a higher level. on the other hand, is it OK to critique 'visionary' art?

The Devil and Three of Cups....wouldn't change a thing. Great graphics, color and composition,PERFECT...Nice cards to look at.
Ace of Cups....might try another version, where the Calla lily is slightly smaller. The spadix (yellow thing in the middle), could be interpreted as a bit phallic. Is it supposed to be? Not sure about the blue line....is there another way it can be incorporated?

ohhh....and i think i mentioned before that the stock market is such a brilliant metaphor for The Devil and the nature of addiction...the card is brilliant! Unless one has unlimited resources, The Market is a very risky playground....for some it might feed a type of gambling addiction.

I like colored pencils. Crayons for grown-ups. Ambriel, I appreciate the tip! I'm not tech-savvy--I visited Ahclem and his scanner, and he did the heavy lifting for me.

Here's my Fool:
I wanted to see if I could create a traditional Fool from a different perspective, which is why he’s viewed from below, making him seem almost monumental and highlighting his importance as he sets out on the Tarot Journey. His movements are awkward and his head seems to be in the clouds, or at least level with them, and, trustful and innocent of the hurts one can sustain in this world, his feet are bare. The string of his butterfly kite forms the blue line that is the theme of the deck and perhaps his only slender hold on reality. The bells, the bells...

Knight of Wands:
The blue line is a lightning bolt that shoots from the tip of the Knight’s wand, punching a hole through the flames of his element to leap into new realms of knowledge and wisdom. Volatile and exuberant, imagination created his strange hybrid mount, a cross perhaps between a horse and a dragon, and supreme self-confidence will carry him onwards on his quest.

Knight of Pentacles:
The knight holds aloft a pentacle that seems almost to replace the sun in the sky. His great horse is made of oak, its tether trailing along the ground and providing one more link with his element of Earth, as well as forming the blue line that is the theme of the deck. Like this knight, an oak tree moves slowly and quietly, but reaches enormous size and strength.
