the only printrun I know about was the one published in 2007as a limited edition - of only 40 decks - containing only the majors.
When looking online I found some minors but never a buy it option, and I'm not all that sure they have been printed.
But you can download the cards at lulu http://www.lulu.com/content/3989348Last edited on Fri Feb 27th, 2009 07:57 am by Mr. la-luna

I managed to buy a copy of this last year. It is rather rare and I suspect there are few copies in the tarot collecting community as most of these will remain in the hands of the magical group within which it was devised.

As far as I know, the edition of 40 that Mr. la-luna mentions is the only extant edition. Since it appears that the artist never completed the courts, it's unlikely that they were ever printed.
For reference, the limited edition was initially distributed by Ixaxaar, a dealer and distributor of occult literature in Finland. At the time, they told me that they hadn't produced the edition, but were not forthcoming about who actually had (the edition is numbered but not signed). A small number of decks made their way to Ixaxaar's US distributor, House of Ravenoir in Portland, Oregon (I eventually bought my copy from them). Like Adam, I imagine all 40 copies are in the hands either of tarot collectors or followers of the Order of the Nine Angles.

Thank you everyone for that detailed info!
What a bummer Oh well. It will be the lifelong search deck for me I guess!
I just find the cards so haunting and beautiful. I don't follow that path, I don't even know the ins & outs of it, but when I was on their site last year I read a bit on it. Seems definately not my thing.
I think I will print them all out when I can, just for personal use and meditation. I'm sure I can make them quite something. It'll be a great project.
But yes, the cards *sigh* At least I know now, thanks to all of you!

I might be way off, but would this be the same with the Naos Deck Sinister Tarot?
"Description:
During the creation of the Naos Deck Sinister Tarot, penciled versions of each image were photocopied to be used as templates for the finished paintings. The prerequisites given in the handbook “Naos” specified that each Sphere required three different colours relating to the Unconscious, the Conscious and the Self (or the Ego, Self and Adept). Owing to this, many of the original colours and in some cases, details in the penciled versions, were changed, lost or obscured as they were painted over. For the first time in five years, these master pencil sketches have been released from THEM’s archives inc. an additional version of the Dark Gate Card. "

even if not, I just wanted to share....

Hmm... Interesting. I'm kind of curious about the provenance of this copy. As those of us lucky enough to have gotten a copy know, the limited edition came in a black lidded box with a title card and the booklet and the cards (wrapped in black paper) inside. This listing doesn't mention or picture the box (or the card wrapping).
Furthermore, the listing includes a picture of the title page of the booklet. On my copy, that's where the edition numbering is (in my case, 19/40). The listing says, "Only 40 of these decks were ever made - this is one of them," but doesn't mention which number it is. I'd be curious to know if it's numbered somewhere else.
A few months ago, I saw a copy of The Sinister show up on ebay at a Buy It Now price of $115.00 (its original price from Ixaxaar). That listing was also vague about whether it included the packaging and whether it was an actual numbered copy of the original edition. I sent the seller a message asking, but it was snapped up a few minutes later and I never got an answer.

Do artists do that? I've never heard of a set numbered in different places--isn't it normally either on the book or the cover card (but not both)?
Awfully pricey.

I find these cards very haunting (and disturbing) as well. Even if I had the means, I'm not sure I'd want to own a copy...but they are definitely something that stays with you. (It's funny, I just happened to run across a mention of them in a thread over on AT yesterday, then today I saw the listing on eBay!)

My copy is numbered 24/40 on the title page of the booklet.
I initially confused this with another Sinister Tarot also issued by the Order of Nine Angles, called The NAOS Deck : A limited edition Sinister Tarot. This one has the 22 Majors plus 48 'Minors', and was created by a different artist and is a limited edition of only 18 decks.

Ah yes - I love that one, the one by Christos Beest ? - it is very weird - but does it not have only 21 cards ? No world, as I recall. Or shock horror - is my deck MISSING A CARD ??????

The one currently offered on ebay is the one by Christos Beest (and has 21 cards). The other one Adam mentioned (The NAOS Deck) is by Ryan Anschauung from Australia. It is confusing.

Good god - so it is. I hadn't actually looked at it before; I thought we were talking about the one with images in this thread.. OK in THAT case..... I paid £60 for mine two years ago.... so that does seem a mite steep for price.
Mine is no 25.
ETA But LOOK!
THIS shows many more cards - and includes the ones in this thread. So they are all from the same deck.
Just - we can't actually GET the rest, it seems !

So it looks to me like the deck up on e-bay now is probably the same one that someone bought on e-bay a few months ago for $115, the same price as when originally issued, but this deck without the box or the edition number on the booklet. Hard to figure that out--could be a "bootleg" or who knows what. Its reappearance on e-bay started as a "buy it now for $850" but today the price was reduced to $475, and the mention of the "one of forty only" in the seller's description is gone (although it's still mentioned in Adam's description, which is included in the listing).
Oh man, e-bay......... ........

This is my fault. When I saw the initial auction I mistakenly thought she was selling the very rare Ryan Anschauung deck, and gave her some consequently erroneous advice on the price. She has now returned the price to the one she originally set. It might seem quite high, but this tarot was issued in only 40 copies and essentially not to the tarot community, but more to people associated with this magical group. Consequently, most copies will probably be held indefinitely, and few will appear on the second hand market. So it is reasonable that the price can be as high as a Minotarot (which was, after all, issued in a massive edition)! Beest is, after moving away from magic, unlikely to produce any further magical tarot decks, so this is probably a one-off item.
Those of us who managed to get copies at the relatively low retail price, are sitting on an appreciating asset. I paid GBP60 (about $100) for this in March 2007. I believe it sold out only a few weeks later.
Regarding the lack of a number on the title page of the booklet - this could be an error on the part of the person packing them up for publication, or it may be a spare, review, or gift deck issued outside the edition. The item is so rare, if a collector wants a copy, this will probably not deter them.
The seller seems to me to be entirely honest and straightforward. When I told her about the missing number she removed the reference to "40 copies" in her description. She does not want to mislead people. It was my fault initially in suggesting the wrong price to her. I expect the current price is more realistic, even without the box and with the lack of a number. Not many of these will appear on sale over the next years.

Ah, that explains it. It's true, probably someone with deep pockets will find this appealing on magickal grounds.

Most of the original art-work for Christos Beest's Sinister Tarot is kept by the ONA, as are the few sets of the Major Arcana he produced from them for the use of ONA members.
The Ixaxaar limited edition of the Major Arcana was in fact authorized by Christos Beest (real name, Richard Moult, composer and artist) himself and was to be the only commercial version ever to be made available. A conidtion of this publication was that it was to be publicly "anonymous".
Moult did in fact produce many of the Minor Arcana, but the majority of these were never made public in any form, although a few of his Minor Arcana cards have been reproduced as jpeg's on the Internet. The originals remain with the ONA, except for around 4 or 5 of these Minor Arcana of his which have gone to collectors of esoterica and Tarot cards (I understand that an academic in the Netherlands has two of them, framed).
The art-work of many of these Minor Arcana cards is much better than that of the Major Arcana.
As many of the cognoscenti here will probably already know, the ONA Sinister Tarot re-named many of the cards of the Major Arcana, with some of the Minor Arcana names also being changed - the four Court cards are High Priest, High Priestess, Warrior and Maiden.
As for the "Naos" Tarot deck - this was never an official ONA deck, and the art-work is in no way comparable with the work of Richard Moult.

For those interested, here are the descriptions and names of the Major Arcana from the Sinister Tarot, although in painting them, Beest/Moult often used some or a lot of artistic license.
The Major Arcana:
0 – The Fool
Brightly clad young man stand on the edge of a cliff, looking upwards. He is holding a flute as if ready to play and a dog is biting at his heel. Above his head a beautiful butterfly hovers. A crescent moon is in the twilight sky.
1 – The Magickian
A young man wearing a black cloak stands beside an altar from which incense is rising. On the altar are a golden chalice and a tetrahedron. Around him are flowers (some of which are trampled) and in the background, stars – the constellations of Leo and Virgo. His left hand is held down, pointing to Earth while his right is raised and holds a wooden wand, carved (in runes) with the word ‘Desire’. Around his neck is an inverted pentagram.
2 - The High Priestess
A beautiful young woman who is naked stands beside a tetrahedron on a mountain ledge. Behind her is a small entrance to a cave which is suffused with a violet light. She wears a crescent moon headdress. Small flowers cling to the bare rock. In the valley below the ledge is a river, while cirrus clouds fleck the blue sky.
3 – Mistress of Earth
A mature woman of beauty, naked from the waist up. She is seated on a rock and in one hand holds a hazel wand whose upper end grows a flower. On her right side sits a swan which is piercing its own breast from which blood drips to feed its three young who gather round. On the other side sits an eagle, while around, human skulls lie with flowers growing through them. To the left are trees, their limbs like arms, and in the distance, a valley and mountains.
4 – Lord of the Earth
A man in crimson robes lined with purple stands overlooking a forest and the distant sea over which the sun rises. He rests his left foot on the body of a man in a white, bloodstained cloak from whose chest a sword is protruding. The dead man has the same face as the standing figure. A wolf is sitting beside the dead man, looking up at the standing figure above whose head flies an eagle. In his right hand the standing figure holds a tetrahedron which is glowing indigo and red.
5 – The Master
A man dressed in black wearing a scarlet cloak fastened by a silver chain stands beside a large tetrahedron. Inside the tetrahedron a young man and a young woman, both naked, are kneeling and embracing. The background is dark, except for a high archway through which a dim light enters the chamber – the tetrahedron being in the center of the chamber. The man is bearded and smiling slightly.
6 – The Lovers
A young man and a young woman, both naked, stand facing each other holding hands. They stand in a glade of trees within a circle of stones. The woman wears on her head a garland of flowers. Outside the circle of stones, a sword, dagger, robes and chalice lie as if discarded – while in the center a small wood fire burns. In the sky is a full moon. Around one of the stones, a snake lies coiled.
7 – Azoth
A strong man dressed in animal skins stands grimly beside a plinth on which is a large, glowing sphere. In the center of the sphere is a blackness where stars shine. The man is guarding the plinth, and carries an axe and a club. He holds a wolf on a chain which is snarling at the white-robed woman walking toward the plinth bearing an offering of incense in a thurifer. In the distance, the sun is setting and a crescent moon hangs in the sky. The ground is like red, stony desert and behind the woman is the faint outline of a green dragon.
8 – Change
A masked woman dressed in green (flecked with blue) stands beside a large Septenary Star Game. She is holding one of the pieces in her hand as if to place it on a higher board. To the left is a verdant garden; to the right, a desolate plain baked dry by the yellow sun – the Star game lies on the boundary. The woman is smiling. One of the pieces of the game has fallen onto the plain and from it a butterfly is emerging.
9 – The Hermit
A bearded man dressed in brown with a leather belt from which hangs a purse, stands on a ledge among snowy mountains. He looks into the distance. In one hand he holds a staff, and in the other a crystal which is glowing. At his feet a wolf lies asleep.
10 - Wyrd
A large ash tree whose branches make a canopy. Three women in long green dresses stand around a small pool of bubbling liquid. One of the women is smiling and throwing small glowing spheres into the liquid. Another holds a snake which is coiled around her hand, while the third looks intently into the crystal tetrahedron she holds in her hands. Behind the tree a hooded figure stands, shielding his face with his sleeve and hand.
11 - Desire
A naked woman stands beside a lion. Her hand rests on its head; her other hand holds a golden chalice from which drops of white liquid fall to the ground. Where they touch the earth, flowers grow, while around is a red-orange rocky desert. The sky above is a deep blue, except for the distant horizon, which is red-yellow, as before sunrise. Near this horizon, a brilliant star is visible.
12 – The Hanged Man
A young man lies upside down, hanging from the branch of an oak tree by one foot. His clothes are green, and from a leather purse which is attached to his belt small spheres are falling to the ground. One of his eyes is closed, and from it a few drops of blood fall. A serpent lies near the base of the tree, and a raven flies nearby. The earth around is flat and barren – orange-brown in color.
13 - Death
A pile of human skulls, forming a pyramid, lie near the edge of a cliff. Below, is a valley with a river and beyond, a forest burning, darkening the sky with smoke. The sky near the cliff is bright blue. Near the skulls, a torn black flag bearing an inverted pentagram flutters in the breeze. Beside the banner, a tall beautiful woman with flowing blonde hair stands with her arms folded looking toward the burning forest. She wears light Greek armor and a bow is slung across her back, while a quiver of arrows is attached to her belt. Beside her squats a dwarf dressed in bright clothes. He is grinning and wiping his blood-stained knife on his sleeves.
14 - Hel
A stern faced woman, pretty except that one of her eyes is shriveled, stands beside a dark lake enclosed by trees. She wears an almost transparent white robe which emphasizes her beauty of body. She is throwing small multi-colored crystal spheres into the lake at whose far end is a man’s head, just visible above the surface. An expression of horror is on the face. In the sky is a rainbow and a hovering bird of prey.
15 - Lucifer
A handsome man is standing naked on a dais below which stand a young man and a young woman embracing. They are both naked. The handsome man holds a broken chain in on hand, and flames of fire in the other. Beside him is a snarling wolf, and on the other side an older bearded man holding an animal horn. An inverted pentagram is inscribed on the dais, while beside it lies a broken human skull out of which a beautiful flower is growing. Above the flower is a butterfly.
16 – The Tower
A castle rears up among rocks. One of the higher towers is struck by lightning and from it falls a man. The lightening has shattered some of the stone of the tower which falls toward the ground. The sky is dark. A young woman, dressed in white, stands near the gate to the castle, looking toward the tower and smiling.
17 – The Star
A beautiful naked woman with long flowing hair is crouched beside a stream, pouring liquid from the chalice in her hand. The stream is in a valley, surrounded by mountains. Downstream, it is fertile with trees, flowers and shrubs. Upstream, all is rocky and barren. The sky is bright blue containing a pattern of seven stars which form an inverted septagon.
18 – The Moon
A yellowish desert path leads toward two crumbling, ornate towers. Desolate mountains are in the distance. Inside the towers, are two indistinct hunched shapes with glowing eyes. Between the towers, and on the path, a large book lies half-buried in sand. Several scorpions are on and around it. In the foreground is a dried-up water hole beside which is a camel’s skull, and from one of the cracks a snake is slithering.
19 – The Sun
A brilliant, golden sun is rising behind snow-capped mountains around which an eagle swoops. In the foreground is a plain containing a circle of nine stones in which black robed figures dance around a fire. Near the circle is a hole in the ground from which the head of an imp is visible, watching the dancers and smiling. Beyond the stones is a path toward the mountains on which a bearded man is walking, holding a staff. His back is almost to the dancers.
20 – The Aeon
A bearded man sits at a table opposite a woman in a semi-transparent red robe. The man is dressed in black. On the table is the Septenary Star Game. To the left are the crumbling remains of a stone building, some areas of which are covered by ivy and grass. To the right is a tall, jagged stone. The man and the woman are looking toward the distance where a full moon and some stars are visible above the horizon. A burning city is indistinct on the horizon. A rent has appeared in part of the night sky and through it Dagon-like shapes are emerging.

Yes, thank you Japer for all the information! I know my chances of ever owning a copy of the Sinister Tarot are .001% aa in never gonna happen...I still love it in an obsessive and dark way.
And I do agree just the few minors I have ever seen of this deck are in many respects far more rich than the majors.

Actually, Ryan posted about it a bit ago over at AT and said it's not his auction. But yeah, a lot of sellers will ship to other countries if asked.

Ah ok - well either way it's someone close to Ryan , or someone (formerly) from ONA ...
About WYRDACTIC
Welcome to WYRDACTIC. All items listed are part of a private occult collection owned by “Tnepres Ra” / “Ryan Anschauung” formerly associated with the Order of Nine Angles. I’m waiting on another shipment containing the Stargame set Ryan made, a box of his tarot, Dragyn, The Book of Wyrd, Grimoire of the Dark Gods and other manuscripts and items accumulated from various other Orders/Temples. Kindly note that while some of the materials are mint or near mint condition, others have obviously suffered from being well-thumbed or moved in and out of storage. I don’t mind being asked questions about condition but generally what you see in the images is what you get. Also this is easily the largest collection of ONA items I’ve ever seen so get in quick because it’s not likely there’ll be another one anytime soon, and I’m probably going to be selling goth boots after this. Noc9.

Earlier this year it could be downloaded from Lulu.com, however it is no longer listed. There is a NAOS Sinister Tarot Calendar listed now,

japer9 wrote: Most of the original art-work for Christos Beest's Sinister Tarot is kept by the ONA, as are the few sets of the Major Arcana he produced from them for the use of ONA members.
+O+ One of the images is entitled 'Dream' and is featured in one of the folder's mentioned in the current auction someone mentioned. Another is in a second folder, unsure of the name, but was also by CB.
The Ixaxaar limited edition of the Major Arcana was in fact authorized by Christos Beest (real name, Richard Moult, composer and artist) himself and was to be the only commercial version ever to be made available. A conidtion of this publication was that it was to be publicly "anonymous".
+O+ There was also an edition produced briefly by Ansuz Transmissions of New Zealand around 2004, now defunct, but again only the Major Arcana and nothing special, just cardboard printouts.
+O+ Further to this, I wrote a piece called 'A Very Brief History of the Sinister Tarot' since taken down but shortly to be put back up on our temple wordpress.
Will let people know when its back. The Minor Arcana was rumoured to contain still living members of ONA and so never published to maintain anonymity and preserve identies - my understanding is that it was entitled 'Tarot X' or 'Tarot Phi'.
+O+ True. CB has produced the only official ONA deck, assuming the Order still recognizes him as an official artist having disavowed other works by CB. There was efforts by Hagur, Shablor my girlfriend (still in progress) and a few others but none of these have been published. The now somewhat famous E. A Koetting was intending to create a deck for ONA inspired Tempel ov Blood but never got around to it due to artistic differences between the TOB and Koetting formerly known under another name. THe Naos Deck was produced by Ryan Anschauung, me, for the ONA. Whether it was recognized as official - it has carved a mythos of its own and been of great use to many sinister initiates. however, only my first attempt I have been working on another.
Adam, nice to see you again :)

Actually it is a coincidence. I sold two sets to the House of Ismaelta earlier this year but their page doesn't appear to be working as I said in the other forum. He was auctioning them for 200 pounds. but who the fella selling it for 400 pounds is I don't know. All the stuff I sent to Wyrd was mine, and I told him to set the price low.
The Naos Deck has been sold to people all over the world, brazil, NZ, Aust, Canada, Texas, Finland, England, even Korea and many of them for a thousand bucks a deck so its not surprising to see more than one from different corners. just one of those weird items that creates it own market.

PS,
We (THEM) recently updated Naos to a new edition called Crux. We sold a set of CB's major arcana with each book. You can manage to get a great deck of CB"s cards by uploading the images to rabbitphoto or kinkos and have them print them out. Note that CB's tarot, being incomplete, was the reason for the Naos Deck which, while suffering in some artistic aspects, is nevertheless complete and was done with the best of Sinister intentions and knowledge. So you don't actually use CB's tarot for readings but for meditation and archetypal exploration. basically visualizing yourself inside the card having a journey with the characters, scenes etc... moving from 0-20. Fool to Wyrd.

Adam and all, the following is a rare ONA ms supplied to me during the creation of the Naos Deck. It was written by Brenna of the ONA and gives further details and depth regarding CB's tarot project. ISS.
Notes on the creation of Sinister Tarot [These recollections have been recorded following a request by ED.]
The first 'emanations' were created by "CB" over a two year period, during his six month stage of Initiate, and following his External Adept rite. The guidelines in Naos perfectly illustrate archetypal sinister magick: taking existing recognised and established symbolism and then subtly distorting/transforming it along sinister lines. The guidelines themselves - whether or not a deck is actually created - serve to describe the nature of sinister magick.
CB decided to attempt another but equally sinister approach: to create an entirely new set of images, replete with unique and self-contained symbolism as befits the tradition of the ONA - and to further contribute to an evolving tradition.
In order to avoid simple solipsism, CB decided to take information direct from his Dark Sphere and Pathworkings. These workings were undertaken at three different stages during this two year period. [The last working resulted in the publication of Caelethi, a rite which is a particular ordering of the pathways, the final aim of which is the creation of a 'wraith'(1)]. The results were recorded in a diary and formed the foundations for the designs.
In an attempt to further the uniqueness of the project, CB decided to create an entirely new symbolism re-presenting the Dark Gods, Spheres and associated forms. This he did by constructing an helilical numerical system based on seven: from this structure, the symbols were derived. In 'Azoth' for example, the silver structure/symbol relates to Luna energies - menstruation, in particular; in 'Magus of Chalices' the entire image is seen through the prism of a symbol - this symbol representing a dark god of female aspect. This system also proved useful in encoding additional information not recorded elsewhere, concerning the Tradition and its histories. The symbols hold much potential, beyond the confines of the Tarot.
Another important factor in the imagery is the depiction of areas associated with the Tradition; mostly places in the Welsh Marches - although there are some interesting exceptions (these depictions become increasingly significant to the creative process in the Second Emanations). In the 'The Magickian', CB painted the image of the squatter's cottage without knowing of its actual existence - a fact later confirmed by his guide when the card was completed. In some cases, the landscape is a combination of two or more locations.
The Second Emanations span a longer period, being energies earthed via other experiences - such as several arduous Insight Roles. The Magus and Mousa cards were created in the first few years following his completion of the ordeal of Internal Adept. The 'Magus of Chalices' card was the final image to be completed, after which CB had felt he had said all he could say within that framework.
CB's Sinister Tarot was not intended to be an 'official' creation, but merely one attempt by one adherent to manifest the infinite emanations of the Sinister. It is hoped other collections by other individuals will follow.

1. The orginal MS of Caelethi differed to the published version, containing additional information concerning the rite. This version was in limited circulation during the early 1990's. The original MS is now lost.

I note that this is another copy of the CB Sinister without box or edition number. It kind of makes me wonder if people are printing their own copies from the files that used to be available on lulu.com and selling them. Last edited on Wed Nov 11th, 2009 01:59 am by papoon

They must have a helluva printer to make the bootlegs THIS good.
In my opinion, there may be more than the 40 numbered copies in circulation.
Ixxaar never claimed on their website for these to have been numbered, or the Sinister by Beest being a limited edition.
Same with NAOS - these are merely the claims of the creators and I would take these claims with .... a grain of salt.
However I doubt that there are many of these floating around.

I think making a fake copy would be a waaay too much trouble only to end up selling it for $44 in an auction (along with the LE Naos deck).
And it's commonly known that those files have been available for a long time - why would anyone bother making copies to sell on Ebay?
And it could potentially happen with any deck (well - some, at least).

Wow - what a skeptic. lol
I assure you there are only 18 decks, though obviously you don't know me or my reputation so that assurance is worthless.
There are certain distinctions in the Naos Deck, like the laminate used to cover the cards. The box they come in. The cards themselves are an unusual size - and have rounded corners. It would be a hell of a lot of effort to go to for the price.
I think I know the individual that sold these two sets too. But his/her reasons for selling them - may be just as simple as not liking them, change of path, wanting someone else to use them since the Sinister Tarot only play a small part in the Septenary Way they were designed for, and then it moves into study of the Star Game, or something like that. Not everything is as valuable to one person as it is to another. I wish I'd known about the auction because I'd have liked a copy of CB's cards professionally done like that.
PS - the red manual you see with it, is not the original, the original manual was printed and came in a crimson folder with clips. Its content was different too - much more informative. The manual above was created with lulu.com about two years ago and sold from the now closed Black Glyph Society. The CD the Glyph produced was probably the most informative - i.e. the one you can see in the 400 pound auction.

I hope it is OK for me to add the below quote from a post by Ryan on AT. I thought it added well to this thread. Ryan being the author of the NOAS Sinister Deck.
A Very Very Brief History of the Sinister Tarot:
Around 1980, a U.K. based Satanic group called the Order of Nine Angles [ONA] surfaced into the public view with its teachings forming a strong reaction against the practice of modern Satanism as was then being espoused by the Church of Satan and the Temple of Set.
The Primary difference between the groups was that a) the ONA held that a Septenary-Based Cosmology was at the heart of the Sinister/Satanic Tradition as opposed to later Jewish Corruptions via Qabllah and systems that relied on different numbers and distorted this original tradition beyond recognition. And b) that the nature of Satanism according to the ONA was truly evil, heretical, and much more than what the public groups of COS/ToS had been teaching it was – in effect, terrifying the latter with their powerful exposition of the “Sinister Tradition”.
The Sinister Tarot was conceived by an individual who joined the Order in the 80’s using the pseudonym ‘Christos Beest’ [CB]. As is the function of all Initiates, CB added to the Sinister Tradition by introducing a variety of new mediums to share what was originally shared via a private oral tradition. Just one of these mediums involved music – another, the Sinister Tarot. During his involvement with the ONA, CB produced 21 Major Arcana cards over a number of years based on his insights and experiences – incorporating much of the Sinister Tradition within them. Later he produced a series of Court Cards but a full set remained unfinished. It was rumoured that his small number cards, if they existed, contained images of still living members of ONA [a notoriously secretive group] and for that reason were a risk to produce to the public eye. The Sinister Tarot of CB remains unfinished – or at least, unpublished.
And so the Sinister Tarot remained incomplete. Not – a problem – insofar as the Major Arcana were considered to be the crux required for meditation on archetypes and a full deck unnecessary. That was until another young individual named R. Anschauung [That’s me] joined the ONA in 2000 and decided to undertake a project [creating one’s own Sinister Tarot is part of the Tradition] to complete a full deck of cards and bring to life the depictions given in NAOS, the magical guide of the Order. Departing from his familiar occult style [which was more similar to Archetypia] – an attempt was made to paint and depict 69 cards and to self-publish them for the use by future adherents of the Order. The NAOS DECK as it came to be called – was completed around 2003 when 18 decks were printed up for private distribution.
To date [2008] – it remains the only known completed [Full Deck] Sinister Tarot designed for the ONA.
