The artist has disappeared with all the kickstarter money he got. There was a long story about a printer cheating him which had the ring of truth at the time - but - well, people have tried on facebook and everywhere. Sad, but...

Yes,i thought it was so, it is spreading this evil!
Another strange case i have seen these days during my tarot
internet travel.Ordering a deck titled "Singing Serpent "(it too in preorder,ha,ha!!!!)on the website found on Aeclectic Tarot Forum,i have discovered another beautiful deck really similar to "The Symbolist Tarot",but really very similar.Title is "Decadent Dream",this one too in pre order.in the photos of website ,at the voice Companion Book there is a photo that is the same of the symbolist t. and many of images are the same, only more long, see you too of this Forum.i find all very very strange

That is odd. I shall go look and if the art IS the same... as a Symbolist backer, I would rather like to post that on his kickstarter page, where many are threatening court action...
Though actually the other two show an artist in the UK, and Fox is in Oregon. Unless he is REALLY hiding out...
I see what you mean - but both decks DO say they are using the art of others, so...

Gregory thanks for these valuable links, I know they were pictorial images of some artist, probably also be booking the bunch although I do not like those images so stretched than the originals and I do not like the pre-orders , but my nose says that some link between the two clusters in question there is.

Well, I just preordered one, and got a nice email from the artist who is a lady person in the UK, and this one will be pay-pal protected, so....
Kickstarter isn't preorder in the same way, though.

It seems to be rather a long pre-order period. She is apparently not
supplying till May 2015 - seven months ! A lot can go wrong
in seven months.

If he can't provide the deck to the backers at least he could made it available to them on the net (or send the pictures by email). Collectors should at least look at all the cards - and non collectors may even choose to print the cards out for themselves; so at least give me something (so I won't feel fooled).

The problem with Kickstarter and similar crowdfunding, is that there no
explicit sales contract. Thus you will little chance of getting your
money back from Amazon or any other intermediary.
It is all outlined, I expect, in the very small print ! These people
have expensive lawyers to write the conditions to protect them against
claims.

Actually Kickstarter now have a form to fill out to try and get our money back: backers can go to the comments page and a backer has posted a link... Last edited on Wed Nov 5th, 2014 11:17 pm by gregory

For the record - my Singing Serpent (preordered ages ago and in which some here had no faith !) is here - and I like it a lot. I am sure the Decadent Dream will follow.
Still NOTHING on the Symbolist

A footnote to Gregory's comment about the Singing Serpent. I had misgivings about the long preorder time for this and the Decadent Dream, but I did recently purchase this seller/creator's wonderful Sidney Sime tarot, and my positive experience in a swift transaction and my correspondence with her give me full confidence that faith is well-placed in buying from her. (And I second the unhappy face re the Symbolist.)

I got Sime as soon as I ordered it - no pre-order stuff at all. That's part of why I trusted her with my money !

I received the Singing Serpent just yesterday. And the Sime was there very quick. So I am also confident the Decadent Dreams Tarot will be done and send too.

I am only noticing some moving backs and jumping legs :-) (of truelight) and smiles (gregory) in the 2 posts above. They look nice :-) - but pls don't keep me in suspense!!!
I understand that the Decadent Dream deck is 'perfectly lovely' - I'd just love some more details: what deck can be compared to? Maybe to the Golden tarot of Klimt? (without the gold leaves). How big is the deck? Like a regular size tarot? How are the images? too dark? too light ? (I guess the 'perfectly lovely' answers that). Is the size of the cards big enough for the artwork to be enjoyable? According to my understanding the work of many different artists were used; do the cards maintain some sense of uniformity throughout the deck? (or does it look as if some different artwork/cards were just put together to make up a deck?)
What do you think: could it make a good reading deck?
THANK YOU !Last edited on Wed Apr 29th, 2015 11:37 pm by rylla

Since you ask - I can't actually recommend it now that I have spent more time with it. The image choice is very good. If it were perfect, I am sure it would read as well as the Delphi, for instance (it does read well.)
But BUT - several of the images have been distorted to "fit" into the card - some vertically, some horizontally. Why she didn't use cropping better I will never know. I have posted about this on AT.
I will try reading with it when my disappointment settles down, and I am still glad I have it - and it did arrive, which is more than can be said for the Symbolist, after all - but I suspect the distortions will be rather off-putting. SUCH a shame. I wish I thought it was a publisher error (like that deck of Stacy Mendoza's, which was later republished NOT squashed !)
The card stock and packaging are excellent - oh, one other SMALL thing - the booklet credits the artists - but does not identify the individual images. I found this annoying, though they are easily found using google !

I hoped that those image distortions are not at random, that they make some sense (i.e. it's related to the meaning of the cards). Somehow I get the impression (from your post Gregory - thank you) that they don't. I could've lived with the distortions if I could've make some sense to them.
And I agree, I expected the descriptions to include the reference to the artists (specific to each card). (That's a disappointment, but would not be a turn off by itself for me). Hm.
Thank you for your input.
