Here is a pretty early version of a very commonly reproduced deck. This one has a piece of the tax stamp , along with the obvious copyright date on the "LWB" has helped with the dating.

I have the same deck. I found it on Ebay a few years back and paid $4.00 for it.

I love it.:ok

I've often wondered if this was the very first version of this deck. I've got the same one and it has a Sears & Roebuck price tag on the box for 49ยข.

The fronts on all of them, old and new, are virtually the same but I like this older version for the back design. :ok

I am pretty sure it is as 1904 is the first year of publication. The info/LWB page that comes with mine has just the one Copyright, and that is 1903.

Still a good deal for this deck at 50.00 so you did well Moonraven.

How cool! I just bought an old deck of these, too, but they aren't as old as yours - I was actually thinking of asking on here if anyone knew how to figure out the publication year. They're in a little box with a nicely worn brown velveteen cover, stamped "The U.S. Playing Card Co., Cincinnati, OH". The backs are the newer purple version with the witch by the campfire. Any ideas?

I love these cards, they smell like an old bookstore! They're in great shape, too, though I think they were used a lot.
