Hey thanks skad, Gregory, et al. I shall begin in earnest.

All the astonishing work that has been sent in already has me a bit nervous; just hoping mine approaches other people's vision and technical expertise.

Don't quite know what it all means just yet, but I very recently broke my leg, and find it interesting that I now face convalescence with the task of producing a Tower card.

Anon, Sumada

Okay, here's the latest info on the possible printer we have found (thanks Mike).  the card stock would be the same as rickeif's Tarot of the Master, for those of you who have that deck.

The amazing part is we can get the entire 78 card deck (plus a title card) for $24.00-$26.00 dollars (US) each, plus shipping.  That includes rounded corners, a printed back, a carton (box) and a lwb.

:ce:ce:ce:ce:ce:ce

I know some are having a tough time of it now, if there are any who can not afford to do that, let know via PM.

Ok, Nicole, you are Knighted!

Would there be any problems with no card pictures in the lwb?  Because of the 78 cards, I am running into a size problem.  Even with only having the text, it's still looking to be a large document.  The text size is going to have to be fairly small.  Ok, really small.

How about pictures with the majors and the rest text only?  Or I could have a document file that you can print out that has text and pix.  Too many options, none really great.

Blue Toy has agreed to do the final formatting for the printer.  So you should send your final high resolution scans to him (but keep a copy!)  His email is lynyrd_narciso(at)yahoo(dot)com remember to keep a copy of the card, just in case!  I can't tell you how much his agreeing to do the work means to me.  I was really concerned about that part of the deck, because I don't have the skills, and it's alot of work to ask someone.

We have two months left to finish the cards, May and June.  Seems like a long time, but how much you want to bet I am turning one in at the last moment? :D

That's wonderful - heartfelt thanks Ly. Two questions:

1. What resolution is needed? 300dpi should easily be enough - I'm not sure I can scan much higher than that.

2. What was decided for the final size of the images we're to send? And I'm assuming they should be pdf rather than jpg?

I think no card pictures is ok. Pictures for the majors only would be unfair to those who weren't able to snag a Major early on. Or maybe everyone has a major card?

Maybe what we can do is there'd be a "box" version with streamlined text. we can focus more on the bio and the card description (but keep these short as well!) and just use keywords for the card meanings. And then there'd be a longer, expanded, for-home-printing version.

1. 300dpi is good. Actually, hopefully, no one should scan in less than 300 dpi.

2. To quote Skad on this, "Estimating a 1/4 inch for sides and 3/8 inch for top/bottom would make the actual window for the picture 2.5 x 3.75." Tiff actually is preferred. But (very) high quality jpeg is ok.

Sounds absolutely great, Skad1. Thanks for doing so much work. And BlueToy for wanting to format everything for the printer.

I think just text LWB will be just fine.

Ehmm.. just to be sure again, the dimensions are still 1 by 1.5? Or have they changed?

I hope I can finally get started on some of my cards. I got the ideas, but the time to do them is another matter.:f

Ok, now I just have to translate it to centimeters and all. I think this is indeed 1:1.5 ratio. I am not sure with the paper here if I can really get it on 2.5 by 3.75 inches, but if the ratio is ok, then I guess that can be adjusted? or at least, that is what I hope...

Yes, the ratio's the same, so the image can be adjusted fairly easily in Photoshop or another programme. It'd be best/easier to keep the ratio and work in a larger format - say 6" x 9" and adjust afterwards. I can do it for you when you've finished if it helps.

My High Priestess is done...I don't have a way to upload it yet...but this will probably change in a few days!

Can I ask the Powers That Be...if I can try the five of cups as well?

I have noticed when I get notifications of new posts from the threads on this forum, it depends who has written them. From LaLuna I get them in Dutch, from Stephan I get them in German.. quite funny. Maybe it depends on which language you got your computer set up in? Just wondering, since mine always says 'wrote' and I have the English Windows installed (blame the English Boyfriend.. lol!:cl)

I have Windows in English; when I get PMs about Stefan's posts they are in English (I think; I shall have to watch now...) and so is the "posted by" in the thread,  but laluna's come in in Dutch and so does the "posted by" note in the threads... I like a bit of excitement..... (what a sad life I lead....)

Ok, the list has been updated and there are FOUR, yes only FOUR cards left.  In other words, FOUR more need a home!  Wow, FOUR to go!  And only a month to finish.  Where does the time go?  :?

I do apologise for not getting the list updated sooner.  I don't usually check the internet on weekend (very slow home connection/very fast work connection), and then I was out Monday.  I have been concentrating on getting my cards done.  It's amazing how much time they can eat up!  Plus the way I was going to do acouple cards has changed radically.  I don't know if they'll be better or not, but boy are they different than I planned originally.

ETA yup - 3" x 4.75". And if they make an issue - the IMAGE part is 2.5 x 4.24. Maybe they can't bleed to the edges ? But mine is from the first printing, too...

My second edition measures the same.
Joe is working on the card and says he'll be done in about a week.. He won't show it too me until he's finished .. But we'll be on time..

Is the Happy Squirrel taken? Or would you rather have some other Jolly Animal card? Weirdly enough, there is at least one instance of a "the Hedgehog" tarot card (in Marseilles style no less!) from 90s TV. I just can't manage to get a screencap off the dvd.

AN IDEA... Why don't we have a new card (in effect, a new animal card...!) called(wait for it...):

The Tarot Collector?

The imagination runs riot...:m

It would make this deck extra special to have something completely different from all other decks out there AND it would tie in with the name!!!

Sounds like you are volunteering.  Considering this forum can easily degrade into the silly, how about the Tarot Miser, or Tarot Horder, or Tarot Joker?

I though BlueToy was volunteering - it was just an alternative to the Happy Squirrel for the extra card...:D

Well, he's already doing the title card, so it's up to him if he wants to do another, in addition to the formatting of all our cards, and work on his own deck....

Which deck had the original Happy Squirrel?

But I have to admit a Jolly Animal sounds fun.  But ya know, it would turn into an annual thing with the rest of the deck!

I think it was originally a fictional deck in an episode of The Simpsons before turning up in other decks.

And yes, an extra card would almost certainly turn into an annual event - like the full deck - we probably won't ever be able to go back to majors only after this...

Or, maybe we could tie the two things together. Like the Obsessive Collector And Incidentally Also Happy Squirrel Card, given that squirrels do hoard their nuts...
