I was browsing the Somerville catalogue yesterday for playing cards and I've been wanting some of the small patience-sized decks for a while. They are good for playing solitaire and I have an old spinnet desk with a fold out shelf that doesn't have a lot of room--thought if I got a patience deck I could lay cards out there for working with the Personal Prophecy method of Deborah Leigh.
I noticed some interest in the retro Tavenol Tarot deck and I thought I'd point out a couple of the same sort of thing at Somerville in playing cards.
Correspondances (52 stations of the Paris metro) #10193 - kind of artsy with biographical mysteries.

[Note to Mythos: you really must try some playing cards in your collection. I use them as clarifying cards--amazing what comes up in asociation with a tarot deck. Think of the excitement you're missing. Today the Eisbergfreistadt, tomorrow the world of transformation decks. . . !]

Me, too. I never realized that Patience had a special card size, and it makes sense--always running off the edge of the table. I wonder if the Iceberg deck that I'm waiting for (Well, it's a longer name in German) will be good for solitaire. Anyway, I have determined that it's my game and I'll cheat if I want to.

It's me, I messed up my password and I guess Adam didn't get my message to try to fix it so I just rejoined but shortened my name.
Had to post this hot news.
I did eventually decide on a Patience deck and it is in the mail now. I got one of the bigger decks--well, bigger widthwise as they all seem to be 2 inches tall or so. I was worried my eyes wouldn't be able to see anything smaller.
Will show scans with size comparison when I get them.

A few snaps. I loved the way the Ace of Spades from one of my new playing card decks emulated the 9 of Pents in the R-W deck, so I used that in the visual.
Disraeli is one of my favourite politicians in history, so I was pleased he showed up here.

HI there. I have playing cards but not got to grips with them. I have seen minature playing card decks. I came across a large deck of cards recently with the word angel on the back and regret not buying them. They were unopened factory sealed and the backs were golden in colour. I didnt know of the maker so left them.
I have a lot of playing cards in my collection and bridge sets. I just dont have the patience to sit down and try with them. I admire that you want to do this.
I like the strauss ones

Angel is a Japanese company that produces very nice playing cards with a variety of themes. Don't hesitate again!
If you ever want to trade 5 playing card decks in good condition, I have the Circle Deck, a new oracular publication, up for trade in the Trading Forum.
Seriously, I love playing cards. Not into Bridge decks, I like illustrated playing cards, so if you feel like refreshing your card collection, I'm open to a trade.
[Edited--can only do North American trades due to high postage costs to Europe.]

Im not keen on the circle deck but appreciate the offer. My decks are really old and a rare lenormand and similar so I can't let them go.I dont even know the value. one is a bridge set with 2 decks one sealed cased in leather.victorian.
I have one deck I was handed sealed I think many would curl up in a ball and giggle at this one.
Narnia carta mundai. some spanish tarot cards. nature animals cards.
I'll head down their tomorrow and see if the Angel deck is still there.it was weird as I believe in Angels and the deck was right there looking at me. I had said I dont believe in you lot anymore you neevr help me.
If only I'd grabbed them there and then. there were also minature playing cards.weeny ones and other decks. many of which the names evaded me. shame I cant ship you over here with me youd have the time of your life there.

Managed to get the sealed angel playing cards, I was tempted to open them but decided not to. Theyare presented sealed in a platic case with Angel japan on them. Inside is a gold box and a deck of gold back playing cards with cherubs on them. can;t see the front of the cards. I like the design on the back. I need to get some pics of my decks. I'll sort that out at the weekend.
