The new tarot from the pen of Pen - The Pen Tarot...! - is ready at last. The felt squares have been cut, the ribbons measured and the cards tucked up in their little black boxes with their little white booklets. You can see them all at the Fig Tree Press website by clicking on the link below. Off now to lie down... ...or maybe I'll walk the dog instead - it's been a hectic few weeks.

Congratulations, Pen!  Very very interesting! I like the consistent and unusual approach-- tarot portraits!  I did not hesitate.

When you wake up from your nap, run mine right over to the Post Office will you, my friend?

I'll just wait here.

WOW! just WOW! All of them are wonderful. I love the fact that you made some parts of the images less detailed, and of course the spot colouring's a nice touch. And that Lovers card is just brilliant!

So glad you like them! The first orders are packed and ready to go - I'll be off to the Post Office as soon as it opens.

This means one thing for me : off to save cents again to buy it .

(being broke isn't great - but makes the longing even greater as the satisfaction when finally holding it in my hands)

Very intense images not by brute force or special effects but by simplicity and openness (and craftsmanship).:ro

Good hearing that gives me (and others like dear gregory ) the time to get the financial side in ordder.

But could you give us the heads up when you're down to let's say 10 or so - we woulden't like to miss out on it ...

Mythos, just got back from posting yours and a few others. Not sure how long airmail takes to Oz, but hopefully no longer than to the US, which seems to take about a week. Fingers crossed for the continuing road-worthiness of the van. And a beard can be very fetching...:D

Edited to say a great big THANKS! to everyone who's bought a set - your support will make the next one possible...:ro

Forgot to say also that I've included a few little extras with the cards, and extra extras for buyers in the UK -  to make up for the difference in postage with the rest of the world.

I can't believe how quickly this truly remarkable and 'tears-running-down-the-cheeks' invoking tarot arrived.  The quotes were pure Dad ... hence the tears.  The images invoke awe.  Pen, you have stunned me.... and so have our mutual postal systems - 4 days in total inclusive of postal and arrival days.:ok

O mythos - you've made my day - and I'm knocked over by our respective postal services too. We have a programme here called 'Nothing to Declare' - it's about the Australian customs. I imagined them undoing the parcel and taking the box apart. So glad it arrived safely, and delighted that you're happy.

The group loved it.. I am forwarding your URL to the members as some of them began to drool near my cards ;)

Let them scurry to get their own I say!

Truly this is a special deck :)

Thanks Nicole - as long as they don't drool ON the cards I'm very happy...!  I've had heartwarming feedback on the deck so far, and hopefully I'll find out in time how/if it works for readings too.

I received my deck yesterday and it is wonderful. I pulled out the Pallfy Tarot, Goblin, and Tarot de Madrid for comparison, since these decks also feature faces for the archetypes. Well, there is no comparison and these decks were quickly returned to their spaces. Just outstanding!!

Forest, Quarkling, thank you! I'm so happy with all the wonderful encouragement and feedback - first the breath-holding to see if my first real tarot would be liked, then suddenly I'm air-walking for days on end. Don't want to come down just yet...!

Well, stay up there! Floating is good!

I love it too.  Lots and lots and lots!  I liked the Fool before I got the deck, but actually having it in my hands made me like it even more.  There is such an innocent happiness with the butterfly.  the eyes on all the cards that are looking out are wonderful.  They grab your attention like when you're seeing real people talking to you.  And the Tower, how perfect, how absolutely original!  then the Lovers, that imagery is so perfect and evocative of the Lovers card.  Just wonderful.

The Mystic Rubyat was a wonderful deck, but the Pen Tarot is one I enjoy more, and will spend more time with, just looking at the wonderful cards.

Thanks for creating such a wonderful deck.

And to everyone else, this is a deck definitely worth raiding the piggy bank for.

I'll second that emotion.  I picked it up today and am totally delighted with the visual images, the quality and presentation.  Now I must read more about the words on the cards and see how they feel to me.

Thank you so much Pen--well done. A gem.

Pen, I saw your deck on Adam's blog this morning and it was ordered within 20 minutes. Thank you for making it available at such a reasonable price - I was sure that I'd get to the bottom of your site and it would say something like £70-£100 for such an amazing, limited edition tarot.

I'm really looking forward to getting it. It looks fantastic. I especially love the Empress - it was only on the third look that I noticed the baby! - but I'm in awe of all the cards.

Really, really beautiful work.

(Hello everyone, I'm new here )

Hi Archer,

Thanks for the thumbs up (and the lovely compliments), and welcome to the Tarot Collectors Forum! I'll post your Pen Tarot first thing on Monday and hopefully it'll arrive Tuesday or Wednesday, so you won't have long to wait.

Thanks due to Adam too for the super review on his weblob - link below - scroll down a bit...:D

Well Pen I must tell you--Last week I had a phone call with another member who had just received your deck. I asked, "What do you think of it?" and he said, "It's fantastic, it's wonderful."  A few days later I met in person (wow!) another member here--I brought my copy along, but he'd already received his.  Again I asked, "What do you think?" His words were exactly the same.  These are two very discriminating collectors giving you the thumbs up, my dear, and little ole' me, too.

I want to add that now I have read the comments explaining the quotes on the cards in the lwb. I am a word person (and wordy I know). I read captions before looking at the picture, can't help it.

Although in a few cases learning the context rubbed me a bit wrong at first, the words and the meaning and feel conveyed by the images work so well together--it was a good choice, I think.  At this point I would have to go back and make myself remember which quotes, when put into context, seemed iffy.

Because they seem exactly right on the cards, which is where they belong, the upshot of this rambling is:  I like the words, too.

:ktDebra, sorry, I somehow managed to miss answering your post earlier. Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad the quotes add rather than detract.

A note for anyone thinking of ordering the deck.

I'll be away and offline from next Friday (12th September) for two weeks. Orders can still be placed on the Fig Tree Press website, and will be sent out the day after I get back (on 27th September). I'll put a note to this effect next to the 'BUY NOW' button. Any orders placed before next Thursday will be sent out before I leave.

Love and light,

Pen

I'm down to the last 18 decks now. I''ve already put three aside - one for myself and a couple of extras, but unless I'm in dire straits these won't be sold in my lifetime. Thanks to everyone who's bought a deck so far - your support will make the next Fig Tree tarot  possible.

Love and light,

It will be a hard act to follow ...that deck is so incredible. :)

When people ask me what I mean when I say an art deck, I show them yours.

Thanks so much for the lovely words, Nicky. :tt

I'm not sure if the next one will  be either as original or as well-received as The Pen has been, but if it isn't it won't be for lack of love or time spent eating, sleeping and dreaming it on my part...

Thank you so much Marcia, I'm really glad you have one - it's lovely that the work is  so appreciated. The Pen Tarot is now officially OOP - I just sold the last one.
