The 78-card version of the deck is out from Schiffer Publishing, available from them and from Amazon.com. It was voted one of Aeclectic Tarot's "top ten" in 2005 as a trumps-only printing of 50 copies.
I'm curious if anyone has the new version and if so, your reaction to the quality, pips, back design, etc.
I am quite interested in variations and modifications on Marseille and Marseille-style decks (don't even know the right way to say it!).

This deck was first published during the 2005 International Tarot Conference here in Melbourne Australia. Major Tom (Tom Schick) brought the copy he had created during the 78 week study of tarot on Aeclectic Tarot with him to the conference. Jean-Michel David, who is the organiser of the Association for Tarot Studies (http://association.tarotstudies.org/deckMajorTom.html) here in Melbourne, responsible for the conference, the re-print of O'Neill's Tarot Symbolism, and the publishing of Jensen's the Story of the Waite-Smith Tarot, took it from Tom's hot little hands and had a printing done during the 5 day conference. Talk about a fast worker.
No box. Shrink-wrapped. No facing card. Print quality is excellent. The card stock is firm, but not a solid as I prefer. Square corners. Slightly smaller in size than a regular deck ... but not much. I got my hot little hands on one immediately at the end of the conference. Only 50 copies were printed. The price was a ridiculously low AUD$28. But then everything from the association is because it is not-for-profit, but the love-child of a group of truly remarkable people whose desire is to encourage the serious study and production of tarot.
It is quite a cute little deck
I know nothing about the second edition. The association is also the driving force behind Tarotpedia http://www.tarotpedia.com/wiki/Main_Page
The picture here is from: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/major-tom-marseilles/ which also has a review of the deck.

The Schiffer Books editiion of Major Tom's, just out, saw a price reduction just recently on Amazon.com (at least the US site) to $19 and change. I've ordered it.

I received the new Schiffer edition today from amazon.com. The cards are lovely--good size for shuffling, sturdy cardstock, light matte finish and not stinky. The colors and images are wonderful. Packaged in a very nice hinged cardboard box with a ribbon hinge and magnetic closure. Unfortunately the 96-page booklet that's supposed to be in the box was missing so I'm returning it to the seller and hoping the next one they send will be intact.

Fortunately the booklet was included with my order (from Overstock.com). Nice booklet, with full color images of all the cards. I liked the summaries on the colours and numbers keywords. I particularly like how the pips are shown, with each numerical group (for example, the Two's) displayed on facing pages so you can see them all together.
